Morning & Evening -- Psalms 107:7 and Song of Solomon 1:16

MORNING:

"He led them forth by the right way."
-- Psalms 107:7

Changeful experience often leads the anxious believer to enquire "Why
is it thus with me?" I looked for light, but lo, darkness came; for
peace, but behold trouble. I said in my heart, my mountain standeth
firm, I shall never be moved. Lord, thou dost hide thy face, and I am
troubled. It was but yesterday that I could read my title clear; to-day
my evidences are bedimmed, and my hopes are clouded. Yesterday I could
climb to Pisgah's top, and view the landscape o'er, and rejoice with
confidence in my future inheritance; to-day, my spirit has no hopes,
but many fears; no joys, but much distress. Is this part of God's plan
with me? Can this be the way in which God would bring me to heaven?
Yes, it is even so. The eclipse of your faith, the darkness of your
mind, the fainting of your hope, all these things are but parts of
God's method of making you ripe for the great inheritance upon which
you shall soon enter. These trials are for the testing and
strengthening of your faith-they are waves that wash you further upon
the rock-they are winds which waft your ship the more swiftly towards
the desired haven. According to David's words, so it might be said of
you, "so he bringeth them to their desired haven." By honour and
dishonour, by evil report and by good report, by plenty and by poverty,
by joy and by distress, by persecution and by peace, by all these
things is the life of your souls maintained, and by each of these are
you helped on your way. Oh, think not, believer, that your sorrows are
out of God's plan; they are necessary parts of it. "We must, through
much tribulation, enter the kingdom." Learn, then, even to "count it
all joy when ye fall into divers temptations."

"O let my trembling soul be still,
And wait thy wise, thy holy will!
I cannot, Lord, thy purpose see,
Yet all is well since ruled by thee."

EVENING:

"Behold, thou art fair, my Beloved."
-- Song of Solomon 1:16

From every point our Well-beloved is most fair. Our various experiences
are meant by our heavenly Father to furnish fresh standpoints from
which we may view the loveliness of Jesus; how amiable are our trials
when they carry us aloft where we may gain clearer views of Jesus than
ordinary life could afford us! We have seen him from the top of Amana,
from the top of Shenir and Hermon, and he has shone upon us as the sun
in his strength; but we have seen him also "from the lions' dens, from
the mountains of the leopards," and he has lost none of his loveliness.
From the languishing of a sick bed, from the borders of the grave, have
we turned our eyes to our soul's spouse, and he has never been
otherwise than "all fair." Many of his saints have looked upon him from
the gloom of dungeons, and from the red flames of the stake, yet have
they never uttered an ill word of him, but have died extolling his
surpassing charms. Oh, noble and pleasant employment to be for ever
gazing at our sweet Lord Jesus! Is it not unspeakably delightful to
view the Saviour in all his offices, and to perceive him matchless in
each?-to shift the kaleidoscope, as it were, and to find fresh
combinations of peerless graces? In the manger and in eternity, on the
cross and on his throne, in the garden and in his kingdom, among
thieves or in the midst of cherubim, he is everywhere "altogether
lovely." Examine carefully every little act of his life, and every
trait of his character, and he is as lovely in the minute as in the
majestic. Judge him as you will, you cannot censure; weigh him as you
please, and he will not be found wanting. Eternity shall not discover
the shadow of a spot in our Beloved, but rather, as ages revolve, his
hidden glories shall shine forth with yet more inconceivable splendour,
and his unutterable loveliness shall more and more ravish all celestial
minds.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Now This Explains It"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

May 22, 2008

NOW THIS EXPLAINS IT

That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me,
and I in thee, that they also may be one in us.

John 17:21

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+17:21&sr=1

If you are going through a solitary way, read John 17, it will
explain exactly why you are where you are - Jesus has prayed that you
may be one with the Father as He is. Are you helping God to answer
that prayer, or have you some other end for your life? Since you
became a disciple you cannot be as independent as you used to be.

The purpose of God is not to answer our prayers, but by our prayers
we come to discern the mind of God, and this is revealed in John 17.
There is one prayer God must answer, and that is the prayer of Jesus
- "that they may be one, even as We are One." Are we as close to
Jesus Christ as that?

God is not concerned about our plans; He does not say - Do you want
to go through this bereavement; this upset? He allows these things
for His own purpose. The things we are going through are either
making us sweeter, better, nobler men and women; or they are making
us more captious and fault-finding, more insistent upon our own way.
The things that happen either make us fiends, or they make us saints;
it depends entirely upon the relationship we are in to God. If we say
- "Thy will be done," we get the consolation of John 17, the
consolation of knowing that our Father is working according to His
own wisdom. When we understand what God is after we will not get mean
and cynical. Jesus has prayed nothing less for us than absolute
oneness with Himself as He was one with the Father. Some of us are
far off it, and yet God will not leave us alone until we are one with
Him, because Jesus has prayed that we may be.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Heaven Four

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Heaven Four
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night....So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled....Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit's fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:2, 6,16-23 NIV

Paul has just concluded a look at the fact that Jesus will come again to bring His children Home. He then leaves us with some instruction for living until that glorious day appears. What do we do until we get to Heaven? To answer that question, let's review todays verses.

We are to be alert and self-controlled. We are to be joyful always . We are to pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances. Paul says this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus. Hes saying that you can live this way when you are allowing Christ to live His live through you. Does that describe your life?

Paul continues, encouraging us to allow Gods spirit to work in us, study the prophecies, and to test everything, or in other words, see how it compares to the truth of Gods Word. In a world of relativity today, when everything is assumed true based on a persons individual belief system, we need Gods standard to judge what is true.

We are to hold on to the good and avoid the evil. I think Paul knew this was a broad statement, but after the previous instruction, when comparing everything to Gods Word, there is a clear distinction between good and evil. Finally, Paul encourages us to continue in the process of sanctification; which is the process of a Christian being molded into the image of Christ.

W ell, how are you doing waiting for Heaven? Are you more like Jesus today than you were one year ago? Will you be further along in the journey by this time next year? I have received numerous replies that basically said they were anxious for Heaven, but not ready yet because there was still much work to be done. Isn't that why we have to be all the more "about our Father's business"?

Paul gives one more concluding remark. Perhaps this will be of comfort to you. In 1 Thessalonians 5:24, The One who calls you is faithful and He will do it. If you are a Christian, and you truly desire to be like Jesus, God will finish the work! Rest in Him!

CHRIST'S LOVE LETTER

2 Corinthians 2:17-3:3

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2+Corinthians+2:17-3:3

Dear Father,

Thank you, Father, that I am not just a peddler of your word, but
that I am commissioned by you and that I speak in Christ.

Let everyone who comes to a knowledge of your will through what I
teach be a living letter of recommendation, written on that
person's heart, to be known and read by everyone.

Let that person be a letter from Christ to the world, delivered by
me, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not
on tablets of stone, but on the tablets of the human heart.

In the name of Jesus I give thanks and make these requests. Amen.

One of the Prophets?

Jesus and his followers went to the towns in the area of
Caesarea Philippi. While they were traveling, Jesus asked the
followers, "Who do people say I am?" The followers answered,
"Some people say you are John the Baptizer. Other people say
you are Elijah. And other people say that you are one of the
prophets."

-- Mark 8:27-28 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Jesus is recognized as a significant religious leader and a powerful
teacher by many of the world's religions. However, Christians see Jesus
as so much more than a prophet, a great teacher, or the founder of a
new religion. He is the Christ, the Son of God. He is Lord. He is the
Savior of the world. Let's help the world know just who Jesus truly is!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O God, please bless the efforts of your children who are trying to let
the world know who Jesus is. In Jesus name. Amen

THOUGHT:
Where the Holy Spirit lives, human character is changed and
spiritual fruit can be seen. Certainly this maturity isn't found
overnight! It is, however, noticeable over the long haul of life.
What fruit is the Spirit bearing in your life? In what ways have
you matured? In what areas do you want the Spirit to exercise
greater control? Why not take a moment and consciously yield those
areas in which you struggle to him now, as you pray?

PRAYER:
Almighty and ever-present Father, thank you for empowering
positive changes in my life as I seek to be more like Jesus. Please
bring to full maturity the fruit the Holy Spirit is growing in my
life. You know very well that I continue to struggle with __ in my
