Mustard Seed Thoughts: Cross Roads Three

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Cross Roads Three
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 NIV

And then the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST!

Yes God loves you!

Yes you are a sinner!

Yes your sin has condemned you to Hell!

Oh, but YES, God did love you enough to send His Son to die on a cross!

And, yes, Jesus rose from the grave!

Yes, in Jesus is the redemption from sin!

Yes, He is the perfect sacrifice, Holy and acceptable to God! His death on the cross was an acceptable price for our sins to a Holy God.

Yes, if you believe in Him (Jesus) you will have eternal life! (Read John 6:29, Romans 10:9, 13)

Yes, that is why we celebrate Easter!

Happy Easter! Jesus is Alive! Praise God!

Hallelujah to the risen Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Hosanna to the King of kings.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

There's More to Come, by Steve Higginbotham

In the year 1815, Napoleon gathered his French forces at Waterloo to
battle against the Duke of Wellington. Of course, history informs us
that Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo, but how did the people living
in 1815 learn of the news?

To carry the news of the Battle of Waterloo to England, an English ship
signaled to a man on shore, who then relayed the word to a man on
another hill, and so on across England. The first word that was
signaled was "Wellington." The next word that was signaled was
"defeated." Then a fog rolled in, and the message stopped.

Friday contained only a portion of the message.

As you can image, all across England people wept and were disheartened
by the two word message, "Wellington defeated." But when the fog
lifted, the message continued with two additional words, "the enemy."
Hope arose out of despair!

Now here's my point. What do you think the world and even the disciples
of Jesus thought when the saw the events that transpired on the Friday
of the crucifixion? But, Friday contained only a portion of the
message. The rest of the message was shared on Sunday through an empty
tomb. Hope arose out of despair!

[Jesus] said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be delivered over
to human hands. He will be killed, and after three days he will
rise." But they did not understand what he meant and were afraid to
ask him about it (Mark 9:31-32 TNIV).

Morning & Evening -- Luke 23:33 and Acts 27:23

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday, April 10, 2009

MORNING:

"The place which is called Calvary."
-- Luke 23:33

The hill of comfort is the hill of Calvary; the house of consolation is
built with the wood of the cross; the temple of heavenly blessing is
founded upon the riven rock-riven by the spear which pierced his side.
No scene in sacred history ever gladdens the soul like Calvary's
tragedy.

"Is it not strange, the darkest hour
That ever dawned on sinful earth,
Should touch the heart with softer power,
For comfort, than an angel's mirth?
That to the Cross the mourner's eye should turn,
Sooner than where the stars of Bethlehem burn?"

Light springs from the midday-midnight of Golgotha, and every herb of
the field blooms sweetly beneath the shadow of the once accursed tree.
In that place of thirst, grace hath dug a fountain which ever gusheth
with waters pure as crystal, each drop capable of alleviating the woes
of mankind. You who have had your seasons of conflict, will confess
that it was not at Olivet that you ever found comfort, not on the hill
of Sinai, nor on Tabor; but Gethsemane, Gabbatha, and Golgotha have
been a means of comfort to you. The bitter herbs of Gethsemane have
often taken away the bitters of your life; the scourge of Gabbatha has
often scourged away your cares, and the groans of Calvary yields us
comfort rare and rich. We never should have known Christ's love in all
its heights and depths if he had not died; nor could we guess the
Father's deep affection if he had not given his Son to die. The common
mercies we enjoy all sing of love, just as the sea-shell, when we put
it to our ears, whispers of the deep sea whence it came; but if we
desire to hear the ocean itself, we must not look at every-day
blessings, but at the transactions of the crucifixion. He who would
know love, let him retire to Calvary and see the Man of sorrows die.

EVENING:

"For there stood by me this night the angel of God."
-- Acts 27:23

Tempest and long darkness, coupled with imminent risk of shipwreck, had
brought the crew of the vessel into a sad case; one man alone among
them remained perfectly calm, and by his word the rest were reassured.
Paul was the only man who had heart enough to say, "Sirs, be of good
cheer." There were veteran Roman legionaries on board, and brave old
mariners, and yet their poor Jewish prisoner had more spirit than they
all. He had a secret Friend who kept his courage up. The Lord Jesus
despatched a heavenly messenger to whisper words of consolation in the
ear of his faithful servant, therefore he wore a shining countenance
and spake like a man at ease.

If we fear the Lord, we may look for timely interpositions when our
case is at its worst. Angels are not kept from us by storms, or
hindered by darkness. Seraphs think it no humiliation to visit the
poorest of the heavenly family. If angel's visits are few and far
between at ordinary times, they shall be frequent in our nights of
tempest and tossing. Friends may drop from us when we are under
pressure, but our intercourse with the inhabitants of the angelic world
shall be more abundant; and in the strength of love-words, brought to
us from the throne by the way of Jacob's ladder, we shall be strong to
do exploits. Dear reader, is this an hour of distress with you? then
ask for peculiar help. Jesus is the angel of the covenant, and if his
presence be now earnestly sought, it will not be denied. What that
presence brings in heart-cheer those remember who, like Paul, have had
the angel of God standing by them in a night of storm, when anchors
would no longer hold, and rocks were nigh.

"O angel of my God, be near,
Amid the darkness hush my fear;
Loud roars the wild tempestuous sea,
Thy presence, Lord, shall comfort me."

My Utmost For His Highest : "Moral Decision About Sin"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 10, 2009

MORAL DECISION ABOUT SIN

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth
we should not serve sin.

Romans 6:6
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=ro+6:6&sr=1

Co-Crucifixion. Have I made this decision about sin - that it must be
killed right out in me? It takes a long time to come to a moral
decision about sin, but it is the great moment in my life when I do
decide that just as Jesus Christ died for the sin of the world, so
sin must die out in me, not be curbed or suppressed or counteracted,
but crucified. No one can bring anyone else to this decision. We may
be earnestly convinced, and religiously convinced, but what we need
to do is to come to the decision which Paul forces here.

Haul yourself up, take a time alone with God, make the moral decision
and say - "Lord, identify me with Thy death until I know that sin is
dead in me." Make the moral decision that sin in you must be put to
death.

It was not a divine anticipation on the part of Paul, but a very
radical and definite experience. Am I prepared to let the Spirit of
God search me until I know what the disposition of sin is - the thing
that lusts against the Spirit of God in me? Then if so, will I agree
with God's verdict on that disposition of sin - that it should be
identified with the death of Jesus? I cannot reckon myself "dead
indeed unto sin" unless I have been through this radical issue of
will before God.

Have I entered into the glorious privilege of being crucified with
Christ until all that is left is the life of Christ in my flesh and
blood? "I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I,
but Christ liveth in me."

Praying with Paul : "Love above Knowledge"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

LOVE ABOVE KNOWLEDGE

1 Corinthians 8:1-13
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+8:1-13

Dear Father, the one real and only God,

Give me more love and humility than knowledge, for "Knowledge
puffs up but love builds up."

People know lots of things, but they let it go to their heads.
Help me, Father, never to imagine that I know everything, because I
know that I do not yet know as I ought to know. What I want is to
love you as I should, for if I love you, then I am loved and known
by you. All the things that men and women pursue, O God, seem to
have no real existence when compared to you. There is no God but
you, the one God.

The world is full of "gods." But for us Christians there is just
one God, you, from whom all things come and for whom they exist,
and there is just one Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are
all things and through whom we exist.

In the name of Jesus and by his authority I ask these things
according to his will. Amen.

WJD! -- What Kind of Man? -- Matthew 8:26-27

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / WHAT JESUS DID! -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday, April 10, 2009

What Kind of Man?

Jesus answered, "Why are you afraid? You don't have enough
faith." Then Jesus stood and gave a command to the wind and
the waves. The wind stopped, and the lake became very calm.
The men were amazed. They said, "What kind of man is this?
Even the wind and the water obey him!"

-- Matthew 8:26-27 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
There is nothing that can stand in the way of Jesus. No enemy has the
power -- he simply casts out the demons. No teacher or skeptic can
stump him with a question. No disease can withstand his call for
healing. Not even nature can baffle or threaten him. He is not just a
man. He is God's Son. He is Immanuel, God with us. But until we can
fully understand who he is, we can be secure that he will care for us
and bring us to his home! Fear is not just being troubled with
circumstances; it also is the uncertainty about what will ultimately
happen to us. Jesus shows his disciples that their safety, their
destiny, is under his command and nothing can withstand his grace
offered to bless his disciples.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
My God, Almighty Lord, please act with your strong power to still the
storm in the hearts of those I love. Give them peace and calm and lead
them to know that Jesus is not only their source of help, but that he
is so much more than a mere mortal man. In the name of Jesus my Lord I
pray. Amen.

Today's Verse : 1 Corinthians 15:3-5

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 10, 2009

VERSE:
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance:
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he
was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the
Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.
-- 1 Corinthians 15:3-5
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+15:3-5

THOUGHT:
Some things are "first importance" things. They lie at the heart
of the matter and are central to the issue at hand. For us as
Christians, we don't have to doubt what those "first importance"
things are. The Gospel of our salvation is built on one simple
foundation: Jesus died, Jesus was buried, Jesus rose from the
grave, and Jesus appeared to his disciples who were never the same
after witnessing their resurrected Savior. Let's not let anyone
distract us from these core truths or crowd out their simplicity
with other matters they may claim to be essential. Our salvation is
rooted in our faith and our participation in this simple, yet
powerful Gospel.

PRAYER:
Dear God, I confess my faith in your work for me in Jesus. I
believe that your Son and my Savior, Jesus, was crucified by wicked
men just as you had said long ago in your Word. I believe his dead
and lifeless body was placed in the tomb. I believe that on the
third day, you brought him back to life, just as you promised. I
believe that those most destroyed by his death, those who knew him
best, saw him alive again. I believe their lives were never the
same. I believe, dear Father, that as I have confessed my faith in
Jesus and shared with him in his death, burial, and resurrection
through baptism that my life is caught up with him in your
salvation and victory over death. I praise you for this grace. I
thank you for this assurance. I look forward to sharing in your
glory when he returns for me. Thank you for my salvation, in Jesus'
name. Amen.

Today's KJV Verse : 1 Corinthians 15:3-5

April 10, 2009

VERSE:
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also
received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the
third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of
Cephas, then of the twelve...

Thank you for my salvation, in Jesus'
name. Amen.
