The Kingdom of God Being a Person

The Kingdom of God Being a Person
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luke 17:20 And when He was questioned by the Pharisees as to
when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said,
The kingdom of God does not come with observation; (21) Nor
will they say, Behold, here it is! or, There! For behold, the
kingdom of God is in the midst of you. (22) And He said to the
disciples, The days will come when you will long to see one of
the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. (23) And
they will say to you, Behold, there! Behold, here! Do not go
away, nor run after them. (24) For just as lightning flashing
from one end of heaven shines to the other end of heaven, so
will the Son of Man be in His day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the Pharisees questioned the Lord about the coming of the
kingdom of God, He answered that the kingdom of God does not
come with observation. This means that the kingdom of God is
not visible or observable. Rather, the kingdom of God is
invisible; it is something that cannot be seen with physical
eyes.

In the Lord's answer to the Pharisees, there is a strong
indication that the kingdom of God is actually the Savior
Himself. The Lord seems to be saying to them, "You cannot see
the kingdom of God, but right now it is among you. Although the
kingdom of God is here now, you do not have the spiritual
perception to see it. You need spiritual eyes to see spiritual
things, to see the kingdom of God. Actually, this kingdom is a
wonderful Person. With your physical eyes you can see the
material existence of this Person. But you do not have
spiritual sight to perceive His spiritual reality. The
spiritual reality of this Person is actually the kingdom of
God. Therefore, I say that the kingdom of God is now here among
you. You, however, cannot perceive this spiritual reality."

Verses 22 through 24 prove that the kingdom of God is the
Savior Himself, who was among the Pharisees when He was asked
by them regarding the kingdom. Wherever the Savior is, there is
the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is with Him, and He
brings it to His disciples. He is the seed of the kingdom of
God to be sown into God's chosen people to develop into God's
ruling realm. Since His resurrection, He is within His
believers (John 14:20). Hence, the kingdom of God is within the
church today (Rom. 14:17).

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Missing It, by Tom Norvell

In John's gospel there are two stories that haunt me as they remind me
of how easy it is to miss what God is doing in our lives and miss His
power. The first is the story of the man who had been an invalid for
thirty-eight years (John 5:1-15) who is healed by Jesus, and the second
is the blind man who is given sight (John 9). In both stories a miracle
takes place. One man is allowed to walk and the other is healed of his
blindness. Both are appropriately amazed at what happened and go to
their religious leaders to share their experience. Both are met with
criticism and skepticism. In both cases the religious leaders missed
the point and missed God.

How often do we miss the point of what God is doing in our lives or in
the lives of others because we are wrapped up in the business of church
and making sure that we keep the rules? How often do we miss the
opportunity to celebrate God because the circumstances do not fit our
theology?

Here are a few examples ...

A friend calls to tell us how they were desperate for cash. Bills were
overdue, the car needed repairs, and the kids needed clothes for the
new school year. They prayed, "God help us." Unexplained and unexpected
an envelope arrives in the mail with no return address and no note
containing the exact amount of money they needed to cover the bills,
plus a little extra. How do we respond? Do we join in their
celebration? Do we acknowledge that this could have only come from God?
Do we question and investigate how someone could have known what the
need was and wonder who could have come through for us in the pinch? Do
we silently wonder why things like this never happen to us?

One of our children greets us after school with a smile stretched
across their face because they believed what we had prayed with them
the night before when we asked God to help them deal with the teacher
who seemed to be unfair, or the classmate who never talked to them. On
this day, that prayer was answered. They are thrilled to know God
really does hear us when we pray. How did we respond? Did we rejoice
with them or did we play it down with a, "Oh wow! That's neat." Do we
ignore it completely by justifying it our minds that we don't want them
to grow up thinking that kind of stuff happens all the time?

During a Bible class someone stands up, unsolicited, saying, "I have a
praise to share with the class." For the next few minutes they struggle
to contain their emotions as they reveal a struggle they have been
experiencing and the victory they have now experienced. They use words
like "miracle" and "unbelievable" and "amazed" and they give credit
completely to the Lord. Though several show their agreement with an
"Amen" or a "Praise God," one wise brother reminds us that we should
not get too carried away with this sort of thing and reminds us that
miracles have ceased and that God really does not work like that any
more.

Let's not spoil the celebration!

In each case the person with the story says, "I don't know all the
details of what happened. All I know is this ... I got this envelope
full of money in the mail ... the relationship with the person at
school is better ... I have won the victory over this problem ... I was
crippled, now I walk ... I was blind, now I see."

Jesus seems to address this at the end of his encounter with a man he
healed who had been born blind. The Lord said to his critics, "For
judgment I have come into the world, so that the blind will see and
those who see will become blind" (John 9:39).

This week, let me challenge us not to spoil a celebration with our
explanations, with our analysis, or by discrediting it. Let the
celebrations flourish. Join in. Give God the glory, much like the
people did when Jesus forgave and healed a man who had been paralyzed:

This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, "We have never
seen anything like this!" (Mark 2:12).

Who knows? Maybe God has something planned for you. I hope you don't
miss it.

Morning & Evening -- Numbers 11:11 and Isaiah 36:5

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday, October 7, 2007

MORNING:

"Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant?"
-- Numbers 11:11

Our heavenly Father sends us frequent troubles to try our faith. If our
faith be worth anything, it will stand the test. Gilt is afraid of
fire, but gold is not: the paste gem dreads to be touched by the
diamond, but the true jewel fears no test. It is a poor faith which can
only trust God when friends are true, the body full of health, and the
business profitable; but that is true faith which holds by the Lord's
faithfulness when friends are gone, when the body is sick, when spirits
are depressed, and the light of our Father's countenance is hidden. A
faith which can say, in the direst trouble, "Though he slay me, yet
will I trust in him," is heaven-born faith. The Lord afflicts his
servants to glorify himself, for he is greatly glorified in the graces
of his people, which are his own handiwork. When "tribulation worketh
patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope," the Lord is
honoured by these growing virtues. We should never know the music of
the harp if the strings were left untouched; nor enjoy the juice of the
grape if it were not trodden in the winepress; nor discover the sweet
perfume of cinnamon if it were not pressed and beaten; nor feel the
warmth of fire if the coals were not utterly consumed. The wisdom and
power of the great Workman are discovered by the trials through which
his vessels of mercy are permitted to pass. Present afflictions tend
also to heighten future joy. There must be shades in the picture to
bring out the beauty of the lights. Could we be so supremely blessed in
heaven, if we had not known the curse of sin and the sorrow of earth?
Will not peace be sweeter after conflict, and rest more welcome after
toil? Will not the recollection of past sufferings enhance the bliss of
the glorified? There are many other comfortable answers to the question
with which we opened our brief meditation, let us muse upon it all day
long.

EVENING:

"Now on whom dost thou trust?"
-- Isaiah 36:5

Reader, this is an important question. Listen to the Christian's
answer, and see if it is yours. "On whom dost thou trust?" "I trust,"
says the Christian, "in a triune God. I trust the Father, believing
that he has chosen me from before the foundations of the world; I trust
him to provide for me in providence, to teach me, to guide me, to
correct me if need be, and to bring me home to his own house where the
many mansions are. I trust the Son. Very God of very God is he-the man
Christ Jesus. I trust in him to take away all my sins by his own
sacrifice, and to adorn me with his perfect righteousness. I trust him
to be my Intercessor, to present my prayers and desires before his
Father's throne, and I trust him to be my Advocate at the last great
day, to plead my cause, and to justify me. I trust him for what he is,
for what he has done, and for what he has promised yet to do. And I
trust the Holy Spirit-he has begun to save me from my inbred sins; I
trust him to drive them all out; I trust him to curb my temper, to
subdue my will, to enlighten my understanding, to check my passions, to
comfort my despondency, to help my weakness, to illuminate my darkness;
I trust him to dwell in me as my life, to reign in me as my King, to
sanctify me wholly, spirit, soul, and body, and then to take me up to
dwell with the saints in light for ever."

Oh, blessed trust! To trust him whose power will never be exhausted,
whose love will never wane, whose kindness will never change, whose
faithfulness will never fail, whose wisdom will never be nonplussed,
and whose perfect goodness can never know a diminution! Happy art thou,
reader, if this trust is thine! So trusting, thou shalt enjoy sweet
peace now, and glory hereafter, and the foundation of thy trust shall
never be removed.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Reconciliation"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

October 7, 2007

RECONCILIATION

For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:21

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2co+5:21&sr=1

Sin is a fundamental relationship; it is not wrong doing, it is wrong
being, deliberate and emphatic independence of God. The Christian
religion bases everything on the positive, radical nature of sin.
Other religions deal with sins; the Bible alone deals with sin. The
first thing Jesus Christ faced in men was the heredity of sin, and it
is because we have ignored this in our presentation of the Gospel
that the message of the Gospel has lost its sting and its blasting
power.

The revelation of the Bible is not that Jesus Christ took upon
Himself our fleshly sins, but that He took upon Himself the heredity
of sin which no man can touch. God made His own Son to be sin that He
might make the sinner a saint. All through the Bible it is revealed
that Our Lord bore the sin of the world by identification, not by
sympathy. He deliberately took upon His own shoulders, and bore in
His own Person, the whole massed sin of the human race - "He hath
made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin," and by so doing He put
the whole human race on the basis of Redemption. Jesus Christ
rehabilitated the human race; He put it back to where God designed it
to be, and anyone can enter into union with God on the ground of what
Our Lord has done on the Cross.

A man cannot redeem himself; Redemption is God's "bit," it is
absolutely finished and complete; its reference to individual men is
a question of their individual action. A distinction must always be
made between the revelation of Redemption and the conscious
experience of salvation in a man's life.

HOLY AND BLAMELESS

Ephesians 1:3-4

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Ephesians+1:3-4

Dear Father, King of an eternal kingdom,

Thank you for giving me the greatest motivation in life. You have
called me into your kingdom, the greatest blessing that can come to
any creature in heaven or on earth, in ages past, the present, or
time to come.

Blessed are you, O God, Creator of everything that is.

You have blessed us with every blessing of a spiritual nature in
the heavenly realms.

In fact, you chose us in Christ before you created the world, that
we should be specially dedicated to you, holy and blameless.
Continue your work in me, O Lord. Make me holy and blameless in
word and in deed.

In the name of Jesus and by his authority I pray. Amen.

The Blessings of Obedience

When Jesus saw the men, he said, "Go and show yourselves to
the priests." While the ten men were going to the priests,
they were healed.

-- Luke 17:14 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Jesus heals people in all sorts of ways. He told these ten with leprosy
to go show themselves to the priests just as the Law commanded them to
do if they were healed. Jesus didn't heal them before they left, but as
they were on their way to the priests. Healing happened after they
stepped out in faith and obeyed. So often, many of us will not follow
until the Lord does for us what we want. Like those with leprosy, we
call Jesus "Lord" or "Master," but we want him "to do for us" rather
than for us to submit to him as Lord. Let's be reminded today, that if
Jesus is our Lord, we will obey him whether or not we see the answers
to our prayers before, during, or after our obedience. Let's do what he
says and trust that he will dispense his mercy and grace in a way that
most blesses us for an eternity with him.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Father God, please give me the patience that comes from your Spirit's
presence. May the Spirit lead me to obey whether or not I see the
answers that I want for the wishes of my heart and my prayer requests.
I want Jesus to truly be my Lord and Master. Open my eyes so that I can
see where I need to obey him and follow his will. In Jesus' name I
pray. Amen.

Today's Verse : Exodus 15:11

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

October 7, 2007

VERSE:
Who among the gods is like you, O LORD? Who is like you --
majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?
-- Exodus 15:11

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Exodus+15:11

THOUGHT:
With whom do you compare the incomparable? How do you grasp the
infinite with a finite mind? When the quintessence of majesty is
the God you contemplate, how can you ever speak of majesty about
anything else? God exhausts our superlatives. God's glory bewilders
our imaginations. God's greatness exceeds our wildest dreams. He is
beyond what we can know or believe. Yet the Wonder of all his
wonders is simply this: he limited himself to a baby, swaddled by
loving parents in strips of cloth, and placed in a feed trough
because there was no room for them in the inn. Sometimes the
greatest of all wonders are not the ones that require our biggest
and best words. Sometimes the greatest of all wonders wrap their
tiny fingers around our own and capture our hearts.

PRAYER:
I do not know how to understand your incredible love for us, yes
even for me. How could you enter our world in baby Jesus? Like the
Magi, I bow and worship you, Lord Jesus, and our Father who sent
you. Who is like you, O God? Nobody is even close. Yet for some
reason known only to your grace, you have brought us close. I
praise you for your majesty and I praise you for your manger. To
your glory, precious Jesus, and in your name, I offer this praise.
Amen.
