Today's Verse : 1 Corinthians 3:3

VERSE:
You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and
quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like
mere men?
-- 1 Corinthians 3:3

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+3:3

THOUGHT:
The Corinthians boasted in their wisdom, giftedness, and
tolerance. But, no matter how gifted a church, no matter how full
of earthly wisdom, no matter how tolerant, if the people of that
church are caught up in petty arguments, cliquishness and ugly
quarrels, they are immature. Rather than being a place where Christ
is known and shown, it is just another gathering of human foibles.

PRAYER:
Holy and Righteous Father, please convict me of my sins,
especially the ones I ignore or do not see. Help me see my
weaknesses. Bless me as I seek to overcome my sinfulness and
weakness with the help of your Spirit. In addition, dear Father,
humble me gently and call me to repentance when I am jealous,
quarrelsome, cliquish, or petty. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Just a Breath, by Tammy Marcelain

Peace. Many seek peace.

I talked with my sister today and she told me she was in the middle of
a breakdown. She is struggling with some health issues right now,
including shingles, and she locked her keys in her running car. A
simple text message to her this morning, "Yo what's up sis?" found her
in the midst of crisis.

What is it that she lacks in her life?

I know, because I have stood right where she is standing. She doesn't
have a relationship with Jesus. She is struggling right now to find
where He fits in her life. Today I say, "Just cover me up with Him,
there is no place for Him not to fit." But, my heart aches for her as I
know just how she feels and struggles to reconcile life and the pain
that comes with it. Life is overwhelming when we don't have Jesus. And
even if we do, we can often be overwhelmed because our eyes have been
distracted to earthly needs and desires.

As I write this, I continue to breathe prayers to Jesus on her behalf.
Will it be today that she lifts her eyes to Him and says, "I am done
trying to do it on my own, I need you O Lord. Save me from myself."?

God's will for our lives is not that we be perfect, not that we come to
him without sin. He made us. He knew the messes we would make. He knew
the weaknesses we have. He chose to create us so we would need him.

I have never seen God work more powerfully!

Some of us have to travel every other road but him before we find the
only path that leads us Home. Satan knows just what to put in the
middle of those other roads to draw us away from God nearer to himself.
He wants us to just take a look, and meander on a bit. But, once the
dirt has touched our shoes, we might not even notice just how far down
the road we have travelled until we are afraid that there is no turning
back.

What is it that leads us to believe that there is a roadblock that
won't allow us to turn around and come back to God? Is it the roadblock
of shame or pride? Those roadblocks might look like they are made of
stone and impossible to get around, but that is an illusion. They are
paper thin. In fact, our breath could blow the road block away. And it
does just that when we get down on our knees, and ask God to lead the
way. With the breath of a prayer, asking for God's help, that roadblock
that looked like a fortress is gone in an instant.

Nothing is impossible with God -- not even finding our way home to him
from the twisted, tangled roads we have traveled. Remember the story of
the prodigal son?

[Jesus is speaking] "The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned
against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called
your son.'

"But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe
and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his
feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and
celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was
lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate" (Luke 15:21-24
TNIV).

I have never seen God work more powerfully in my life, than when it
came to turning away from sin. It was then, that the Father gave me a
path to follow that would lead me right back to Him. He can do that for
you ... and for my sis. A morning that is full of crisis can lead to a
life that is filled with the only true peace, the peace of knowing
Jesus as our Savior. It begins with a breath. We can breathe that
prayer, watch the road blocks fall, and trust our Father to bring us
home.

I lift up my eyes to the hills -- where does my help come from? My
help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth (Psalm
121:1-2 NIV).

Morning & Evening -- 1 Samuel 13:20 and Ephesians 3:8

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday, March 2, 2008

MORNING:

"But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to
sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and
his mattock."
-- 1 Samuel 13:20

We are engaged in a great war with the Philistines of evil. Every
weapon within our reach must be used. Preaching, teaching, praying,
giving, all must be brought into action, and talents which have been
thought too mean for service, must now be employed. Coulter, and axe,
and mattock, may all be useful in slaying Philistines; rough tools may
deal hard blows, and killing need not be elegantly done, so long as it
is done effectually. Each moment of time, in season or out of season;
each fragment of ability, educated or untutored; each opportunity,
favourable or unfavourable, must be used, for our foes are many and our
force but slender.

Most of our tools want sharpening; we need quickness of perception,
tact, energy, promptness, in a word, complete adaptation for the Lord's
work. Practical common sense is a very scarce thing among the
conductors of Christian enterprises. We might learn from our enemies if
we would, and so make the Philistines sharpen our weapons. This morning
let us note enough to sharpen our zeal during this day by the aid of
the Holy Spirit. See the energy of the Papists, how they compass sea
and land to make one proselyte, are they to monopolize all the
earnestness? Mark the heathen devotees, what tortures they endure in
the service of their idols! are they alone to exhibit patience and
self-sacrifice? Observe the prince of darkness, how persevering in his
endeavours, how unabashed in his attempts, how daring in his plans, how
thoughtful in his plots, how energetic in all! The devils are united as
one man in their infamous rebellion, while we believers in Jesus are
divided in our service of God, and scarcely ever work with unanimity. O
that from Satan's infernal industry we may learn to go about like good
Samaritans, seeking whom we may bless!

EVENING:

"Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this
grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the
unsearchable riches of Christ."
-- Ephesians 3:8

The apostle Paul felt it a great privilege to be allowed to preach the
gospel. He did not look upon his calling as a drudgery, but he entered
upon it with intense delight. Yet while Paul was thus thankful for his
office, his success in it greatly humbled him. The fuller a vessel
becomes, the deeper it sinks in the water. Idlers may indulge a fond
conceit of their abilities, because they are untried; but the earnest
worker soon learns his own weakness. If you seek humility, try hard
work; if you would know your nothingness, attempt some great thing for
Jesus. If you would feel how utterly powerless you are apart from the
living God, attempt especially the great work of proclaiming the
unsearchable riches of Christ, and you will know, as you never knew
before, what a weak unworthy thing you are. Although the apostle thus
knew and confessed his weakness, he was never perplexed as to the
subject of his ministry. From his first sermon to his last, Paul
preached Christ, and nothing but Christ. He lifted up the cross, and
extolled the Son of God who bled thereon. Follow his example in all
your personal efforts to spread the glad tidings of salvation, and let
"Christ and him crucified" be your ever recurring theme. The Christian
should be like those lovely spring flowers which, when the sun is
shining, open their golden cups, as if saying, "Fill us with thy
beams!" but when the sun is hidden behind a cloud, they close their
cups and droop their heads. So should the Christian feel the sweet
influence of Jesus; Jesus must be his sun, and he must be the flower
which yields itself to the Sun of Righteousness. Oh! to speak of Christ
alone, this is the subject which is both "seed for the sower, and bread
for the eater." This is the live coal for the lip of the speaker, and
the master-key to the heart of the hearer.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Have You Felt The Hurt Of The Lord?"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

March 2, 2008

HAVE YOU FELT THE HURT OF THE LORD?

Jesus said unto him the third time, Lovest thou Me?

John 21:17

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+21:17&sr=1

Have you felt the hurt of the Lord to the uncovered quick, the place
where the real sensitiveness of your life is lodged? The devil never
hurts there, neither sin nor human affection hurts there, nothing
goes through to that place but the word of God. "Peter was grieved
because Jesus said unto him the third time. . . ." He was awakening
to the fact that in the real true centre of his personal life he was
devoted to Jesus, and he began to see what the patient questioning
meant. There was not the slightest strand of delusion left in Peter's
mind, he never could be deluded again. There was no room for
passionate utterance, no room for exhilaration or sentiment. It was a
revelation to him to realize how much he did love the Lord, and with
amazement he said - "Lord, Thou knowest all things." Peter began to
see how much he did love Jesus; but he did not say - "Look at this or
that to confirm it." Peter was beginning to discover to himself how
much he did love the Lord, that there was no one in heaven above or
upon earth beneath beside Jesus Christ; but he did not know it until
the probing, hurting questions of the Lord came. The Lord's questions
always reveal me to myself.

The patient directness and skill of Jesus Christ with Peter! Our Lord
never asks questions until the right time. Rarely, but probably once,
He will get us into a corner where He will hurt us with His
undeviating questions, and we will realize that we do love Him far
more deeply than any profession can ever show.

Praying with Paul : "Imitating Christ"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

IMITATING CHRIST

Romans 15:1-8

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+15:1-8

Dear Father, God of steadfast love,

May the strength you give us be used to bear with the failings of
those who are weak, not to please ourselves, but to please our
neighbor for his good, to build him up.

In this let us imitate Jesus, your Son, who did not please
himself, but lived as it was written of him, "The reproaches of
those who reproached you fell on me."

May you, our Father, the God of steadfastness and encouragement,
grant us Christians to live in such harmony with one another, in
full accord with Jesus Christ, that together we may with one voice
glorify you, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the name of Jesus and according to his command. Amen.

Facing the Adversary

"Sometimes the teaching falls on the path. This is like some
people. Those people hear the teaching of God. But Satan (the
devil) comes and takes away the teaching that was planted in
them."

-- Mark 4:15 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Our efforts to share the good news of the Kingdom of God don't happen
in a vacuum. We must realize that Satan is an active adversary. He
opposes or seeks to dilute, distort, and derail every effort made to
advance the Kingdom of God in the hearts of lost people. Let's not
forget that we have an adversary. This shouldn't make us afraid or
discouraged, but it should motivate us to feel the urgency of God for
the lost men and women around us. It should awaken us that those who
come to Christ will face difficult challenges as they try to begin
their new walk with the Lord. It should move us with compassion as we
see people battle in their heart between the influences of Satan and
the invitation extended by Jesus. Satan will try to steal that message
from them. We must do all we can to help them hear and respond!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O Father, how you must grieve for those who struggle to receive your
grace. How it must anger you to see the evil one come in and steal away
the good news from the hearts of those who so much need it. Use me as
one of your messengers to help those who are battling Satan. In Jesus'
name I pray. Amen.
