Died in Adam, Made Alive in Christ

Died in Adam, Made Alive in Christ

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1Cor 15:22 For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all
will be made alive.
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in offenses, made us alive
together with Christ (by grace you have been saved) 6 And
raised us up together with Him and seated us together with Him
in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Through regeneration God has made us alive. In Adam we all are
dead. When we were born of our parents, we were born dead.
Furthermore, all unbelievers are dying a little more each day.
All of them are marching toward the tomb. Their destination is
the tomb, and their destiny is death. Hence, in Adam every man
is born dead and is also born to die. According to the Bible the
gospel is preached not merely to sinners; it is also preached to
those who are dead in Adam. We know from Peter's word in 1:3
that through the means, the instrumentality, of the resurrection
of Christ, God has regenerated us. Through Christ's resurrection
God has made us alive. In Adam we all died, but in Christ we all
have been made alive.

Nearly two thousand years ago, when Christ was resurrected, we
were made alive, regenerated. According to the New Testament,
when Christ was resurrected, we were resurrected in Him (Eph.
2:5-6). Hallelujah, although we were born with Adam, we have
been reborn with Christ in His resurrection!

At this point I would quote a word from Dean Alford: "The
resurrection of Christ, bringing in life and the gift of the
life-giving Spirit, is that which potentiates the new birth into
a living hope." The concept here is deep. The resurrection of
Christ potentiates our regeneration into a living hope. When we
were regenerated, the resurrected Christ entered into us. He is
not only the living One--He is also the resurrected One. Now He
is the life within us that potentiates the new birth and causes
every aspect of our being to become living. Therefore,
regeneration results in a living hope.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Jess, to His Friends, by Lisa Mikitarian

"The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though
all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body -- whether
Jews or Greeks, slave or free -- and we were all given the one
Spirit to drink. Now the body is not made up of one part but of
many" (1 Corinthians 12:12-14 NIV).

My husband gave me the priceless (no matter what he says) gift of a
laptop. No more going to the frigid basement to word process. Now in
the halcyon of my post-desktop computer days, I'm snuggled on the couch
with a blanket, coffee and thoughts. Ah, the bliss.

Imagine my annoyance when the letter U on my keyboard began sticking. I
found myself writing emails such as:

Dear Sam, My Generos Hsband,

What's p with yo?

Yor Faithfl Wife,

Lisa

So here is a salUte to "U"!

I circumvented the annoyance by relying on the spell checker. After
all, "U" is the least used regular vowel, so the changes were minimal.
This worked well until I received an email from a friend who asked,
"Who's Jess Christ?" Apparently, I had sent out an email in His name --
to a lot of people. The letter "U" may not be seen as often as an "A"
or an "I," but its absence proved embarrassing, just as the absence of
a smaller article of clothing might prove embarrassing under a certain
set of circumstances.

It's easy to overlook components that don't have an outwardly readily
recognizable role. It's easy to overlook parts that serve with
understatement. But in the body of letters, every "J," "V," and "U" has
its place and does its job just as every toe, elbow, and Achilles heel
has its place and does its job in the body of Christ.

We can't all be ministry staff and worship leaders -- for one thing,
some of us can't sing. Yet there are many beautiful and vital parts of
the body. The hands that prepare food for the sick or gather clothes
for the homeless are lovely. The faithful men who provide for their
families by persevering in jobs they wouldn't choose if given a choice
are men of godly character. The faithful women who find themselves in
circumstances they never could have imagined, but nonetheless, remain
obedient to the Father are women of godly character. It takes a variety
of Christians to build a strong, universal church body -- one that
reflects the glory and grace of Jesus Christ.

So here is a salUte to "U" -- for each of Us who has the seemingly
minuscUle, bUt absolUtely crUcial role of illUminating the trUth and
love of JesUs Christ jUst by living obedient and beaUtifUl lives and
commUnicating His love and trUth to every hUman being we encoUnter.

The sticky "U" situation also reminded me not to rely upon the
unreliable, over-lauded spell-checkers and other devices of man. In the
future, I'll stick to "Jess" alone.

Morning & Evening -- Song of Solomon 1:2 and Hosea 10:12

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

MORNING:

"Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth."
-- Song of Solomon 1:2

For several days we have been dwelling upon the Saviour's passion, and
for some little time to come we shall linger there. In beginning a new
month, let us seek the same desires after our Lord as those which
glowed in the heart of the elect spouse. See how she leaps at once to
him; there are no prefatory words; she does not even mention his name;
she is in the heart of her theme at once, for she speaks of him who was
the only him in the world to her. How bold is her love! it was much
condescension which permitted the weeping penitent to anoint his feet
with spikenard-it was rich love which allowed the gentle Mary to sit at
his feet and learn of him-but here, love, strong, fervent love, aspires
to higher tokens of regard, and closer signs of fellowship. Esther
trembled in the presence of Ahasuerus, but the spouse in joyful liberty
of perfect love knows no fear. If we have received the same free
spirit, we also may ask the like. By kisses we suppose to be intended
those varied manifestations of affection by which the believer is made
to enjoy the love of Jesus. The kiss of reconciliation we enjoyed at
our conversion, and it was sweet as honey dropping from the comb. The
kiss of acceptance is still warm on our brow, as we know that he hath
accepted our persons and our works through rich grace. The kiss of
daily, present communion, is that which we pant after to be repeated
day after day, till it is changed into the kiss of reception, which
removes the soul from earth, and the kiss of consummation which fills
it with the joy of heaven. Faith is our walk, but fellowship sensibly
felt is our rest. Faith is the road, but communion with Jesus is the
well from which the pilgrim drinks. O lover of our souls, be not
strange to us; let the lips of thy blessing meet the lips of our
asking; let the lips of thy fulness touch the lips of our need, and
straightway the kiss will be effected.

EVENING:

"It is time to seek the Lord."
-- Hosea 10:12

This month of April is said to derive its name from the Latin verb
aperio, which signifies to open, because all the buds and blossoms are
now opening, and we have arrived at the gates of the flowery year.
Reader, if you are yet unsaved, may your heart, in accord with the
universal awakening of nature, be opened to receive the Lord. Every
blossoming flower warns you that it is time to seek the Lord; be not
out of tune with nature, but let your heart bud and bloom with holy
desires. Do you tell me that the warm blood of youth leaps in your
veins? then, I entreat you, give your vigour to the Lord. It was my
unspeakable happiness to be called in early youth, and I could fain
praise the Lord every day for it. Salvation is priceless, let it come
when it may, but oh! an early salvation has a double value in it. Young
men and maidens, since you may perish ere you reach your prime, "It is
time to seek the Lord." Ye who feel the first signs of decay, quicken
your pace: that hollow cough, that hectic flush, are warnings which you
must not trifle with; with you it is indeed time to seek the Lord. Did
I observe a little grey mingled with your once luxurious tresses? Years
are stealing on apace, and death is drawing nearer by hasty marches,
let each return of spring arouse you to set your house in order. Dear
reader, if you are now advanced in life, let me entreat and implore you
to delay no longer. There is a day of grace for you now-be thankful for
that, but it is a limited season and grows shorter every time that
clock ticks. Here in this silent chamber, on this first night of
another month, I speak to you as best I can by paper and ink, and from
my inmost soul, as God's servant, I lay before you this warning, "It is
time to seek the Lord." Slight not that work, it may be your last call
from destruction, the final syllable from the lip of grace.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Heartiness V. Heartlessness Towards Others"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 1, 2008

HEARTINESS V. HEARTLESSNESS TOWARDS OTHERS

It is Christ ... who also maketh intercession for us.

Romans 8:34,27

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=ro+8:34,27&sr=1

Do we need any more argument than this to become intercessors - that
Christ "ever liveth to make intercession;" that the Holy Spirit
"maketh intercession for the saints"? Are we living in such a vital
relationship to our fellow men that we do the work of intercession as
the Spirit-taught children of God? Begin with the circumstances we
are in - our homes, our business, our country, the present crisis as
it touches us and others - are these things crushing us? Are they
badgering us out of the presence of God and leaving us no time for
worship? Then let us call a halt, and get into such living
relationship with God that our relationship to others may be
maintained on the line of intercession whereby God works His marvels.

Beware of outstripping God by your very longing to do His will. We
run ahead of Him in a thousand and one activities, consequently we
get so burdened with persons and with difficulties that we do not
worship God, we do not intercede. If once the burden and the pressure
come upon us and we are not in the worshipping attitude, it will
produce not only hardness toward God but despair in our own souls.
God continually introduces us to people for whom we have no affinity,
and unless we are worshipping God, the most natural thing to do is to
treat them heartlessly, to give them a text like the jab of a spear,
or leave them with a rapped-out counsel of God and go. A heartless
Christian must be a terrible grief to Our Lord.

Are we in the direct line of the intercession of our Lord and of the
Holy Spirit?

Mustard Seed Thoughts: You do not have to doubt!

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
You do not have to doubt!
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. "You of little faith," He said, "why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:31 NIV

I don't mean to sound ireverent, but please allow me to answer Jesus' question as to why Peter doubted. Peter saw the wind, that's why! The wind was real. Peter was familiar with storms that came upon the water. He knew a storm could wipe him out; literally drown him. Sure, Jesus was real, but Peter had never walked on water before. And the wind seemed more real at the time, than did his faith in Jesus.

Has Jesus ever asked you why you doubted Him? The answer is obvious. Just as Peter, who had enough faith to step out of the boat, but then saw the wind and became afraid, you and I face challenges in life that cause us to doubt Christ. Be honest with yourself and God, it happens! The problems are real! Sometimes the problems seem more real than our faith!

I'm glad Matthew tells us that Jesus "immediately" reached out His hand . When Peter felt as though life was about to end, Jesus spared no time. He saved Peter before he could fall completely.

Notice that Jesus didn't stop Peter from being afraid. Jesus could have stopped the wind that scared Peter. He could have calmed the storm prior to Peter getting out of the boat. Instead, Jesus didn't calm the wind until they were both safe, back in the boat. Jesus could have put placed Peter's feet upon solid ground, upon which to walk to Jesus. He did so when the Israelites crossed the Jordon. Instead, Jesus allowed Peter to sink when he saw the wind. He does this so that we might better learn to trust in Him completely.

The principle is that Jesus will sometimes allow us to become afraid. He will even allow us to "sink" a little. But, Jesus, our Savior, will "immediately" reach out His hand before we fall too far.

If you are just barely hanging on in life right now, if you are being frightened by the wind, and you feel like you are sinking, reach out your hand for Jesus. He is never far away.

Have faith! You do not have to doubt!

Praying with Paul : "Discipline in Love"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

DISCIPLINE IN LOVE

1 Corinthians 5:9-13

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+5:9-13

Dear Father, lover of righteousness and purity,

Give us determination to keep your command not to associate with
the immoral - not at all meaning the immoral of the world, the
greedy and robbers, the idolaters, for then we would have to go out
of the world - but not to associate with one who bears the name of
a brother if that one is guilty of immorality or greed, or is an
idolater, a reviler, a drunkard or robber - not even to eat with
such a person.

You have called us to judge those inside the church, not outside
of it. You, our God, judge those on the outside. May we keep your
command to "Drive out the wicked person from among us," but not
"quench a smoldering wick" or "break a bruised reed." May we oppose
only those who willfully persist in their humiliation of you, your
gospel, and your church, and even then may we do it only for the
salvation and good of all.

In the name of Jesus I ask for wisdom in matters of discipline and
for the loving spirit of the Savior himself. Amen.

Looking to Bless

And Jesus felt power go out from him. So he stopped and
turned around. Then he asked, "Who touched my clothes?" The
followers said to Jesus, "There are many people pushing
against you. But you ask, 'Who touched me?'" But Jesus
continued looking for the person that touched him. The woman
knew that she was healed. So she came and bowed at Jesus'
feet. The woman was shaking with fear. She told Jesus the
whole story. Jesus said to the woman, "Dear woman, you are
made well because you believed. Go in peace. You will have no
more suffering."

-- Mark 5:30-34 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
At first glance, we can misinterpret Jesus' intentions. Some have said
that Jesus is just trying to make sure others see that he has done a
great miracle. However, if we listen to the Spirit's message in this
event, we see that Jesus is looking to bless this woman for her
demonstration of faith. Affirmation abounds for major steps taken in
faith in the New Testament. Now if we can just make them abound in our
churches and families!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Loving God, thank you for adopting me into your people and your family.
Use me to help welcome others who come to be a part of your people of
faith. Use me to bless and affirm their efforts to honor you. In Jesus'
name. Amen.

Today's Verse : Psalm 4:1

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 1, 2008

VERSE:
Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief
from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.
-- Psalm 4:1

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Psalm+4:1

THOUGHT:
At first, this cry for help seems very demanding. However,
closer inspection shows that this is really the cry of desperation.
Have you been there? I surely have and I regularly hear from folks
who are there now. But, read how this Psalm ends! What is the
secret to surviving a long agony? I believe three things are
important: 1) honesty in our prayer life with God, 2) confidence
that God hears and cares even when our prayers sizzle with pain and
frustration, and 3) genuine praise for God included in our prayers
even when things seem bleak. It's not a magical formula, but it is
a Spirit-inspired one -- check it out in Psalm 4!

PRAYER:
O God, please hear my cry for relief, as well as the relief of
those I love, from agony, burdens, and suffering. Please answer in
amazing and miraculous ways so that we may not only be relieved,
but so that you may be glorified as well. In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen.
