The command to evangelize is a part of God's law. It belongs to

we might believe about God's sovereignty in election and
calling.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Uprighting the Earth, by Ann Voskamp

Editor's Note:
Please check out our new women's blog, http://akindredheart.com

I've known she's been dying for quite some time and (dare I confess?)
no remorse has gnawed away at these insides, no aching sadness slowly
draining. Just a happy relief washes over me when I think of it.
Frankly, she needed to go, her demise long overdue.

Rest in peace, my Drama Queen. You who listened to the news and ranted
and raved. You who dove into online theological polemics, internally
wrangling wildly, blood pressure rising. You who fell captive to crisis
and commotion. Adieu. I do not mourn your passing.

For I discovered your impotence. Your absolute and utter inability to
effect change. You held me rapt too long, riveting my attention
horizontally, on those around me. All your fuss, your finger-pointing,
your flapping about, distracted me from a vertical perspective. From
Him who Reigns over all.

As you, eristical one, laggardly expire, I quiet. Peace comes softly.
Old rankled skin molting, new contented life emerging, I'm discovering
deep, universal change comes in surprising, unexpected ways.

Not in criticism, negativity, sensationalism. But in praise.

May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
Then the

land will yield its harvest ...

(Psalm 67:5-6).

Our land will yield a good crop when the people praise. Our culture
will produce bounty when we give thanks. Our nations will bear fruit
when we exalt.

So will this heart.

But does gratitude, praise, worship capture anyone's imagination,
vision, life? Why do we find the good, the lovely, the beautiful so ...
insipid? Why do we thirst for the bad, the ugly, the contentious ...
and spew out the glory-worthy as bland?

Couldn't anyone use a little good news today?

Rod Dreher, a popular conservative columnist for the "Dallas Morning
News," and author of "Crunchy Cons," recently wrote (in the comments of
this post):

I blog about negative stuff for the same reason that newspapers
aren't filled with good news: because "usually" (though not
always), "good news" isn't that interesting to talk about.

I understand. I relate. It's a common consensus. Who can market
gratitude, praise, good news?

Good News often seems less than compelling. I too have often brushed it
aside, apathetic. I pray for grace to learn new ways:

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the
power of God at work ... (Romans 1:16).

No grief as I bury my negativity.

Good news, praise, thanksgiving, exalting, this is the power of God at
work. This is what will change our hearts. This is what will prosper
our land, bless us with yield, bounty, harvest.

And, really, why wouldn't it? Because when we think on the lovely, the
noble, the right, "whatever is admirable -- if anything is excellent or
praiseworthy" (Philippians 4:8) ... we are thinking on very God
Himself:

Sing praises to His name, for it is lovely (Psalm 135:3).

He is lovely and all that is lovely in this cosmos reflects but the
substance of Him. To think on the good is to think on God.

Yet we live in an upside-down, inverted world. We reject the
praiseworthy as vapid and unremarkable. Boring. Juvenile.

And that which is scandalous, disagreeable, we find fascinating,
intriguing, worthy of attention. Meriting discussion. An engagement for
the intellects, the pundits. The lovely? Dismissed.

So it has always been:

And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
He is despised and rejected by men ... (Isaiah 53:2-3).

We rejected Him once. Forbid we would again.

No, no grief as I bury my negativity. I'm done with my addiction to
criticism, with my drama queen.

I whisper praise, this tongue's new language, and feel the land beneath
my feet swell with abundance, the earth uprighted.

Loveliness, God, embraced.

Morning & Evening -- Acts 13:39 and Hebrews 12:23

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday, May 15, 2008

MORNING:

"All that believe are justified."
-- Acts 13:39

The believer in Christ receives a present justification. Faith does not
produce this fruit by-and-by, but now. So far as justification is the
result of faith, it is given to the soul in the moment when it closes
with Christ, and accepts him as its all in all. Are they who stand
before the throne of God justified now?-so are we, as truly and as
clearly justified as they who walk in white and sing melodious praises
to celestial harps. The thief upon the cross was justified the moment
that he turned the eye of faith to Jesus; and Paul, the aged, after
years of service, was not more justified than was the thief with no
service at all. We are to-day accepted in the Beloved, to-day absolved
from sin, to-day acquitted at the bar of God. Oh! soul-transporting
thought! There are some clusters of Eshcol's vine which we shall not be
able to gather till we enter heaven; but this is a bough which runneth
over the wall. This is not as the corn of the land, which we can never
eat till we cross the Jordan; but this is part of the manna in the
wilderness, a portion of our daily nutriment with which God supplies us
in our journeying to and fro. We are now-even now pardoned; even now
are our sins put away; even now we stand in the sight of God accepted,
as though we had never been guilty. "There is therefore now no
condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." There is not a sin in
the Book of God, even now, against one of his people. Who dareth to lay
anything to their charge? There is neither speck, nor spot, nor
wrinkle, nor any such thing remaining upon any one believer in the
matter of justification in the sight of the Judge of all the earth. Let
present privilege awaken us to present duty, and now, while life lasts,
let us spend and be spent for our sweet Lord Jesus.

EVENING:

"Made perfect."
-- Hebrews 12:23

Recollect that there are two kinds of perfection which the Christian
needs-the perfection of justification in the person of Jesus, and the
perfection of sanctification wrought in him by the Holy Spirit. At
present, corruption yet remains even in the breasts of the
regenerate-experience soon teaches us this. Within us are still lusts
and evil imaginations. But I rejoice to know that the day is coming
when God shall finish the work which he has begun; and he shall present
my soul, not only perfect in Christ, but perfect through the Spirit,
without spot or blemish, or any such thing. Can it be true that this
poor sinful heart of mine is to become holy even as God is holy? Can it
be that this spirit, which often cries, "O wretched man that I am! who
shall deliver me from the body of this sin and death?" shall get rid of
sin and death-that I shall have no evil things to vex my ears, and no
unholy thoughts to disturb my peace? Oh, happy hour! may it be
hastened! When I cross the Jordan, the work of sanctification will be
finished; but not till that moment shall I even claim perfection in
myself. Then my spirit shall have its last baptism in the Holy Spirit's
fire. Methinks I long to die to receive that last and final
purification which shall usher me into heaven. Not an angel more pure
than I shall be, for I shall be able to say, in a double sense, "I am
clean," through Jesus' blood, and through the Spirit's work. Oh, how
should we extol the power of the Holy Ghost in thus making us fit to
stand before our Father in heaven! Yet let not the hope of perfection
hereafter make us content with imperfection now. If it does this, our
hope cannot be genuine; for a good hope is a purifying thing, even now.
The work of grace must be abiding in us now or it cannot be perfected
then. Let us pray to "be filled with the Spirit," that we may bring
forth increasingly the fruits of righteousness.

My Utmost For His Highest : "The Habit Of Rising To The Occasion"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

May 15, 2008

THE HABIT OF RISING TO THE OCCASION

That ye may know what is the hope of His calling ...

Ephesians 1:18

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=eph+1:18&sr=1

Remember what you are saved for - that the Son of God might be
manifested in your mortal flesh. Bend the whole energy of your powers
to realize your election as a child of God; rise to the occasion
every time.

You cannot do anything for your salvation, but you must do something
to manifest it, you must work out what God has worked in. Are you
working it out with your tongue, and your brain and your nerves? If
you are still the same miserable crosspatch, set on your own way,
then it is a lie to say that God has saved and sanctified you.

God is the Master Engineer, He allows the difficulties to come in
order to see if you can vault over them properly - "By my God have I
leaped over a wall." God will never shield you from any of the
requirements of a son or daughter of His. Peter says - "Think it not
strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you." Rise to the
occasion; do the thing. It does not matter how it hurts as long as it
gives God the chance to manifest Him self in your mortal flesh.

May God not find the whine in us any more, but may He find us full of
spiritual pluck and athleticism, ready to face anything He brings. We
have to exercise ourselves in order that the Son of God may be
manifested in our mortal flesh. God never has museums. The only aim
of the life is that the Son of God may be manifested, and all
dictation to God vanishes. Our Lord never dictated to His Father, and
we are not here to dictate to God; we are here to submit to His will
so that He may work through us what He wants. When we realize this,
He will make us broken bread and poured out wine to feed and nourish
others.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Created to be New

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Created to be New
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
Therefore, is anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV

Do you feel like a new creation today? Sometimes we dont. Circumstances of life sometimes try to cloud our view so that we wont recognize the awesomeness of being a new creation. Yet, Gods Word is true! If you are in Christ, then Christ is in you, and Christ cannot reside in your heart unless a change has been made! When Christ enters a repentive heart, He performs heart surgery, making your heart like Him!

Pause for just a minute and reflect on the ramifications of being a new creation. Your sin no longer condemns you, because Jesus bore the penalty upon the Cross. Your eternity is no longer in question, because your name is written with permanent ink in the Lambs Book of Life. You are no longer left to face life on your own, because Christ has came to live His life through you. You no longer have to live in defeat, because Jesus has already overcome the world!

Are you living like a new creation today, or are you still walking around like the old you? Have you got a smile on your face because your future is secure? Are you enjoying the peace of God that surpasses understanding, since you have been justified by the blood of Jesus and made right with God? Do you look at life from Heavens perspective, because, in position, you citizenship is not of this world? Are you anticipating the soon and coming reign of our Savior, the King of kings and Lord of lords?

I truly believe that when you and I fail to live as the new creations we are, it is because we are not following the plan of God for our lives. Gods desire and design for us is victory. Not that everything will always be perfect. Many times it will not be, but we can still live in victory, because from Heavens perspective, everything is going to be okay. May we live with that understanding today!

Praying with Paul : "A God of Comfort"

--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

A GOD OF COMFORT

2 Corinthians 1:3-11

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2+Corinthians+1:3-11

Dear Father, great and gentle one,

Blessed are you, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are
the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.

You comfort us in our affliction, so that we may be able to
comfort others who are in affliction with the same comfort with
which we ourselves are comforted by you.

You enable us to know that as we share abundantly in Christ's
sufferings, so through Christ we shall share abundantly in comfort
too.

Thank you that our suffering is not meaningless, but is for the
comfort and salvation of others. Thank you for a hope that cannot
be shaken.

Jesus has taught to besiege you with constant prayer. Here we are
again, coming in his name. Amen.

Leaving the Cynics Behind

Jesus made a sad sound like he was troubled. He said, "Why do
you people ask to see a miracle as proof? I tell you the
truth. No proof like that will be given to you." Then Jesus
left the Pharisees. Jesus went in the boat to the other side
of the lake.

-- Mark 8:12-13 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Sometimes we just have to say, "No!" Jesus would not let his ministry
become a sideshow. He would not pander to an audience that was
important, but which was determined not to believe. There are times
when we need to recognize that the people are not going to believe and
move on to others who are looking for God and his grace in Jesus.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O Father, help me know when to move on! I know I have prayed this
prayer several times this week, but it is so important to me. I don't
want to give up on someone seeking you, but I also know that I can get
so caught up trying to reach one specific person that I fail to see the
many around me who are seeking, but who have no one to share your grace
with them. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Today's KJV Verse : Ephesians 5:15

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

May 15, 2008

VERSE:
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
-- Ephesians 5:15

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Ephesians+5:15&translation=kjv

THOUGHT:
Living with urgency doesn't mean living recklessly. It means
living with a holy abandon to honor God and with a holy passion to
make each moment count for righteousness. That means we must be
intentional about our choices, taking care that we use our moments
wisely as we live a life of character different from the world
around us because we are dedicated to Jesus.

PRAYER:
Fill me with wisdom, O God, that I may honor you with my choices
and use of time today and everyday. Protect me from the deceptive
influences of the evil one and grant me a holy and productive use
of the time you bless me with each day. In the name of Jesus my
Lord, I pray. Amen.
