Reconciling with Those Offended (2)

Reconciling with Those Offended (2)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matthew 5:24 Leave your gift there before the altar, and first
go and be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer
your gift. (25) Be well disposed quickly toward your
opponent at law, while you are with him on the way, lest the
opponent deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the
officer, and you be thrown into prison.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

[Part 2 of 2]
Therefore, when you come to God's altar, you must first be
reconciled to your brother. Whatever demands he has, you must
try your best to satisfy him. Learn to satisfy the righteous
requirement of God as well as the righteous requirement of
your brother. You can offer your gift to God only after you
have done this. This is quite serious.

We have to be well disposed quickly with him. While he and we
are still on the way, that is, while both parties are still
here [alive], there is the opportunity to speak to one
another and apologize. We should be reconciled to each other
quickly. The door of salvation will not be open forever. The
same is true with the door of mutual confession among the
brothers.

We have to realize how serious this matter is! You cannot be
nonchalant or careless about it. If you know that a brother
has a complaint against you, you have to deal with it. You
must try your best to apologize lest there be no opportunity
to reconcile later. If our conscience is pure, and the wrong
is clearly not on our side, we can be at peace. Otherwise, if
there is any wrongdoing on our part, we must confess. We must
be above reproach in our conduct. We should not always think
that others are wrong and we are right. It is certainly wrong
to ignore the complaints of others and to instead insist that
we are right.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Declaration of Dependence, by Bill Brant

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to state
deliberately and unequivocally the basis for one's belief, a person, an
organization, a nation, or people must make a Declaration. Thus, all
people know exactly where we stand in relation to all others. In doing
so, it must be acknowledged and accepted that some will offer
affirmation and others will find fault that cause them offense.

American history is anchored with such an event that took place on July
4, 1776.

Today I make my personal Declaration of Dependence.

I believe in one God, His son Jesus, and His Holy Spirit. Who since
before time began, offered His creation an avenue to be made worthy to
be with Him forever.

I believe that God is creator and we are His creations; that Jesus is
Messiah, our Savior; and our dependence is completely upon them.

I believe that it is God's task to add to His church and determine who
goes to Heaven or Hell, not mine.

I believe that God's directions are in His Word and the guidance of the
Holy Spirit.

I believe that being Christ-like begins with understanding that by
ourselves we are unworthy; that repenting of our sin is both attitude
and action; that baptism is the acknowledgement of obedience to Jehovah
and telling others of Jesus is an opportunity and responsibility.

Our Declaration of Dependence is the beginning of the journey and not
the end.

This Declaration of Dependence is the continuation of my journey and
not the end.

What would your Declaration of Dependence be like? Write me at

Morning & Evening -- Psalms 33:21 and Psalms 28:1

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

MORNING:

"Our heart shall rejoice in Him."
-- Psalms 33:21

Blessed is the fact that Christians can rejoice even in the deepest
distress; although trouble may surround them, they still sing; and,
like many birds, they sing best in their cages. The waves may roll over
them, but their souls soon rise to the surface and see the light of
God's countenance; they have a buoyancy about them which keeps their
head always above the water, and helps them to sing amid the tempest,
"God is with me still." To whom shall the glory be given? Oh! to
Jesus-it is all by Jesus. Trouble does not necessarily bring
consolation with it to the believer, but the presence of the Son of God
in the fiery furnace with him fills his heart with joy. He is sick and
suffering, but Jesus visits him and makes his bed for him. He is dying,
and the cold chilly waters of Jordan are gathering about him up to the
neck, but Jesus puts His arms around him, and cries, "Fear not,
beloved; to die is to be blessed; the waters of death have their
fountain-head in heaven; they are not bitter, they are sweet as nectar,
for they flow from the throne of God." As the departing saint wades
through the stream, and the billows gather around him, and heart and
flesh fail him, the same voice sounds in his ears, "Fear not; I am with
thee; be not dismayed; I am thy God." As he nears the borders of the
infinite unknown, and is almost affrighted to enter the realm of
shades, Jesus says, "Fear not, it is your Father's good pleasure to
give you the kingdom." Thus strengthened and consoled, the believer is
not afraid to die; nay, he is even willing to depart, for since he has
seen Jesus as the morning star, he longs to gaze upon Him as the sun in
his strength. Truly, the presence of Jesus is all the heaven we desire.
He is at once

"The glory of our brightest days;
The comfort of our nights."

EVENING:

"Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me:
lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down
into the pit."
-- Psalms 28:1

A cry is the natural expression of sorrow, and a suitable utterance
when all other modes of appeal fail us; but the cry must be alone
directed to the Lord, for to cry to man is to waste our entreaties upon
the air. When we consider the readiness of the Lord to hear, and his
ability to aid, we shall see good reason for directing all our appeals
at once to the God of our salvation. It will be in vain to call to the
rocks in the day of judgment, but our Rock attends to our cries.

"Be not silent to me." Mere formalists may be content without answers
to their prayers, but genuine suppliants cannot; they are not satisfied
with the results of prayer itself in calming the mind and subduing the
will-they must go further, and obtain actual replies from heaven, or
they cannot rest; and those replies they long to receive at once, they
dread even a little of God's silence. God's voice is often so terrible
that it shakes the wilderness; but his silence is equally full of awe
to an eager suppliant. When God seems to close his ear, we must not
therefore close our mouths, but rather cry with more earnestness; for
when our note grows shrill with eagerness and grief, he will not long
deny us a hearing. What a dreadful case should we be in if the Lord
should become for ever silent to our prayers? "Lest, if thou be silent
to me, I become like them that go down into the pit." Deprived of the
God who answers prayer, we should be in a more pitiable plight than the
dead in the grave, and should soon sink to the same level as the lost
in hell. We must have answers to prayer: ours is an urgent case of dire
necessity; surely the Lord will speak peace to our agitated minds, for
he never can find it in his heart to permit his own elect to perish.

My Utmost For His Highest : "The Conditions Of Discipleship"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

July 2, 2008

THE CONDITIONS OF DISCIPLESHIP

If any man come to Me, and hate not ... he cannot be My
disciple.

Luke 14:26,27,33

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=lu+14:26,27,33&sr=1

If the closest relationships of life clash with the claims of Jesus
Christ, He says it must be instant obedience to Himself. Discipleship
means personal, passionate devotion to a Person, Our Lord Jesus
Christ. There is a difference between devotion to a Person and
devotion to principles or to a cause. Our Lord never proclaimed a
cause; He proclaimed personal devotion to Himself. To be a disciple
is to be a devoted love-slave of the Lord Jesus. Many of us who call
ourselves Christians are not devoted to Jesus Christ. No man on earth
has this passionate love to the Lord Jesus unless the Holy Ghost has
imparted it to him. We may admire Him, we may respect Him and
reverence Him, but we cannot love Him. The only Lover of the Lord
Jesus is the Holy Ghost, and He sheds abroad the very love of God in
our hearts. Whenever the Holy Ghost sees a chance of glorifying
Jesus, He will take your heart, your nerves, your whole personality,
and simply make you blaze and glow with devotion to Jesus Christ.

The Christian life is stamped by 'moral spontaneous originality,'
consequently the disciple is open to the same charge that Jesus
Christ was, viz., that of inconsistency. But Jesus Christ was always
consistent to God, and the Christian must be consistent to the life
of the Son of God in him, not consistent to hard and fast creeds. Men
pour them selves into creeds, and God has to blast them out of their
prejudices before they can become devoted to Jesus Christ.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Name

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Name
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
"You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name." Exodus 20:7 NIV

What's in a name? Did you ever ask your parents why they called you what they did? My middle name is that of my great grandfather's. It is a rather unusual name, so when I was in school, I never wanted anyone to know it. I would give them my initial, but I tried hard to keep the name hidden. Today, I am proud of the name Aubrey! It was the name of a good Christian man by all accounts. He was well known for His good deeds and His dedication to God. I never knew him, but I will strive to leave behind the positive reputation he left. I am honored to carry on his name.

What do you think of when you hear the name Benedict Arnold? Does traitor come to mind? What about Mother Teresa? Can you say "humility"? Martin Luther King? Does equality for all fit? George Washington? Abraham Lincoln? Billy Graham? What is in a name? A name has mea ning and we apply worth to a person many times based on a name.

God? What do you think of when you hear that name? Jesus? Holy Spirit? I am not even going to insult you by suggesting that you would even think of using God's name in a dirty joke or an expletive phrase. If your a follower of Christ, you surely have more respect for Him than that. But, what importance do you give to His name?

Do you revere His name? Does it bother you for others to insult Him? Are you getting to know more about Him each day? Do you tremble at His word and the realization that the name that is above every name, took the time to care for you? If I said the name JESUS would it light a smile on your face?

Let's see......." J E S U S ! " Yea, there you go!

Are you starting to understand that His name is to be revered, respected, honored, loved and obeyed? When God gave the third commandment, He knew people would hit a hand with a hammer or watch their team win th e super bowl and express their dissatisfaction by yelling, "God _______". His heart hurts at their lack of respect, but, God is just as concerned about you and me, the so-called "faithful" Christian. Are we ascribing to His name the honor it is due?

He is God! He is the designer, creator, sustainer, and planner of the universe! He is greater than all we can ever hope and imagine. He is worthy. Let's grant His NAME; His powerful, wonderful, ever-lasting name, the proper place in our heart and mind.

One more time......." J E S U S " ! Are you smiling?

CHILDREN OF PROMISE

Galatians 4:8-5:1

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Galatians+4:8-5:1

Dear Father,

Keep us from turning back to any weak and beggarly things. Help us
to live in the glorious freedom brought by the Son of God. Let
Christ be born in our souls, even if through great travail. Let him
be the reality of our lives, hour by hour and day by day.

Let us live as children of the free woman, the new Jerusalem which
is above, not as children of the bondwoman. Make us the children of
promise.

Since it was for freedom that Christ set us free, let us live in
his freedom.

In the name of Jesus I ask. Amen.

The Question Trap

Some Pharisees came to Jesus. They tried to make Jesus say
something wrong. They asked Jesus, "Is it right for a man to
divorce his wife?"

-- Mark 10:2 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Isn't it amazing how religious people can resort to trickery and
legalistic debate to try to prove their superiority? Shouldn't we focus
on the real issues of God's heart like justice, mercy, and righteous
living? Words are important, but religious words become righteous only
when they truly come to life in people who are living to honor God.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O Righteous Father, may the words of my mouth, the thoughts of my mind,
the motivation of my heart, and the actions of my life be pleasing to
you. In the name of Jesus my Lord. Amen.

Today's Verse : Matthew 7:2

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

July 2, 2008

VERSE:
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and
with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
-- Matthew 7:2

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Matthew+7:2

THOUGHT:
Jesus is concerned that we not have a critical spirit toward
others, especially about their motives as to why they did
something. We can't assume to know another person's heart; only God
can. When we are unfairly critical, overly harsh, or unduly
judgmental, we need to remember that God will use that same
standard on us. I don't know about you, but I need grace. So do
those I love. I'm going to try very hard to be as gracious toward
others as I'm trusting that God is going to be gracious with me.

PRAYER:
Forgive me, Abba Father, for the times that I've been far more
critical of others than I should be. Arouse within me a passion to
be gracious toward others so that they can see your graciousness
shining through me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
