The Forgiveness of Sins – Solving Our Problem

The Forgiveness of Sins – Solving Our Problem

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bible Verses ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rom 5:12 Therefore just as through one man [Adam] sin entered
into the world, and through sin, death ; and thus death
passed on to all men because all have sinned--
Mark 2:5 And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the
paralytic, Child, your sins are forgiven.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words of Ministry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As fallen human beings, our basic problem is our sin. When God
created man, man was pure, clean, and without sin. Man had
been created in the image of God and according to the likeness
of God. Furthermore, God breathed into man the breath of life,
and man became a living soul (Gen. 2:7). This breath of life
became the spirit of man within him. Therefore, man in God's
creation has the image of God, the likeness of God, and a
spirit within him. As a creature, he was clean, pure, and
complete. However, according to Genesis 3, the evil one, the
Devil, the enemy of God, came in to poison the man created by
God. Man was "bitten" by the serpent, and sin was injected
into man's being.

All the problems of mankind are the result of sin. Because of
sin, the situation of fallen mankind is hopeless. Because of
sin, everyone has been corrupted. Do you not believe that
mankind, including you, has been corrupted? Do you not believe
that your neighborhood, your city, and your country have been
corrupted by sin? The whole world has been corrupted by sin.
Therefore, in carrying out the gospel service, the first thing
we must do is to show people how they may have their sins
forgiven. Because all the problems of mankind are the result
of sin, sin must be dealt with if people are to be restored to
God.

Many of us can testify that in the past we tried our best to
get a good education so that we might have a promising future.
Nevertheless, the problem of sin remained unsolved and caused
more and more corruption. But on the day we believed in the
Lord Jesus and received Him, our sins were forgiven. This was
the reason the Lord said in 2:5, "Child, your sins are
forgiven!"

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Go to My Brothers and Tell Them, by Phil Ware

She had been there through the whole nightmare. Now that the brutality
was over, she was committed to do the final acts of love to the one she
called her Lord.

Having purchased spices late on Saturday evening after the Sabbath had
ended (Mark 16:1-2), Mary Magdalene and the other women got up before
dawn and made their way in the dusk of morning to the tomb of Jesus.
Upon arriving at the tomb, the women found the stone moved away and the
tomb open and empty (John 20:1).

Mary's mind raced to try to understand what she was seeing. "What had
happened to his body?" "Where have they taken my Lord?"

After alerting Peter and the beloved disciple, Mary Magdalene was left
alone in her grief and confusion:

Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over
to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where
Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?" "They have taken my
Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they have put him."
At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she
did not realize that it was Jesus.

He asked her, "Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking
for?"

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried
him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."

Jesus said to her, "Mary."

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which
means "Teacher").

Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to
the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am
ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: "I have seen
the Lord!" And she told them that he had said these things to her

(John 20:11-18 TNIV).

This incredible, simple, and touching appearance of the resurrected
Jesus' to Mary Magdalene is filled bits of glory-filled wonder.
Confusion becomes conviction. Horror transforms into hope. Weeping is
replaced by witness!

Mary Magdalene, once terrorized by seven demons (Luke 8:2), is saved
once more by Jesus. Her intended acts of faithful kindness to Jesus'
battered and lifeless body become the turning point of human destiny.
In a time where women were to be neither seen nor heard, the
resurrected Jesus commissions Mary to become the apostle to the
apostles: "Go instead to my brothers and tell them ..." (John 20:17).
Her voice will be the first human voice to proclaim history's most
profound truth: "I have seen the Lord!" (John 20:18).

And for us, the journey of this one woman reveals the marvelous truth
each of us so desperately needs to hear: "You are known. Your tears are
noticed. You are valuable to me. You have a mission."

Is this the most important question we will ever answer?

No matter your gender, no matter your past, no matter your brokenness,
no matter your loss, the resurrected Jesus longs to enter your life as
Lord and give you comfort, hope, community, and purpose. And if you
ever doubt this is true, remember Mary Magdalene and her trip with
spices to an empty tomb.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The following questions are intended for your personal reflection, your
use in a small group or house church, or a discussion with friends. I
would also love to get your reaction on my blog:
http://thephilfiles.com

Since the testimony of women was not trusted or appreciated in Jesus
day (Luke 24:9-11), why do you think that Jesus had Mary Magdalene and
the other women be His first proclaimers of the resurrection?

Mary Magdalene's journey from a woman tormented by demons (Luke 8:1-2)
to the first proclaimer of the good news of Jesus' resurrection is a
powerful story with a wonderful message for each of us. What is God's
message to you, in your situation, in this story?

How does Mary's journey from a woman tormented by demons to the first
person who proclaimed Jesus' resurrection from the dead illustrate the
following two principles in Scripture?

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for
all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves
with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor
free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs
according to the promise (Galatians 3:26-29).

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The
old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17).

In this important life-story of Mary Magdalene and Jesus, Jesus asks
Mary a very important question: "Who is it that you are seeking?" (John
20:15).

* Is this the most important question we answer when we "go to
church"?

* Is this the most important question we will ever answer?

* How can this question help us in our life's most important
decisions?

Morning & Evening -- Psalms 97:10 and Revelation 3:19

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday, June 7, 2009

MORNING:

"Ye that love the Lord hate evil."
-- Psalms 97:10

Thou hast good reason to "hate evil," for only consider what harm it
has already wrought thee. Oh, what a world of mischief sin has brought
into thy heart! Sin blinded thee so that thou couldst not see the
beauty of the Saviour; it made thee deaf so that thou couldst not hear
the Redeemer's tender invitations. Sin turned thy feet into the way of
death, and poured poison into the very fountain of thy being; it
tainted thy heart, and made it "deceitful above all things, and
desperately wicked." Oh, what a creature thou wast when evil had done
its utmost with thee, before divine grace interposed! Thou wast an heir
of wrath even as others; thou didst "run with the multitude to do
evil." Such were all of us; but Paul reminds us, "but ye are washed,
but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord
Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." We have good reason, indeed, for
hating evil when we look back and trace its deadly workings. Such
mischief did evil do us, that our souls would have been lost had not
omnipotent love interfered to redeem us. Even now it is an active
enemy, ever watching to do us hurt, and to drag us to perdition.
Therefore "hate evil," O Christians, unless you desire trouble. If you
would strew your path with thorns, and plant nettles in your
death-pillow, then neglect to "hate evil:" but if you would live a
happy life, and die a peaceful death, then walk in all the ways of
holiness, hating evil, even unto the end. If you truly love your
Saviour, and would honour him, then "hate evil." We know of no cure for
the love of evil in a Christian like abundant intercourse with the Lord
Jesus. Dwell much with him, and it is impossible for you to be at peace
with sin.

"Order my footsteps by thy Word,
And make my heart sincere;
Let sin have no dominion, Lord,
But keep my conscience clear."

EVENING:

"Be zealous."
-- Revelation 3:19

If you would see souls converted, if you would hear the cry that "the
kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord;" if you
would place crowns upon the head of the Saviour, and his throne lifted
high, then be filled with zeal. For, under God, the way of the world's
conversion must be by the zeal of the church. Every grace shall do
exploits, but this shall be first; prudence, knowledge, patience, and
courage will follow in their places, but zeal must lead the van. It is
not the extent of your knowledge, though that is useful; it is not the
extent of your talent, though that is not to be despised; it is your
zeal that shall do great exploits. This zeal is the fruit of the Holy
Spirit: it draws its vital force from the continued operations of the
Holy Ghost in the soul. If our inner life dwindles, if our heart beats
slowly before God, we shall not know zeal; but if all be strong and
vigorous within, then we cannot but feel a loving anxiety to see the
kingdom of Christ come, and his will done on earth, even as it is in
heaven. A deep sense of gratitude will nourish Christian zeal. Looking
to the hole of the pit whence we were digged, we find abundant reason
why we should spend and be spent for God. And zeal is also stimulated
by the thought of the eternal future. It looks with tearful eyes down
to the flames of hell, and it cannot slumber: it looks up with anxious
gaze to the glories of heaven, and it cannot but bestir itself. It
feels that time is short compared with the work to be done, and
therefore it devotes all that it has to the cause of its Lord. And it
is ever strengthened by the remembrance of Christ's example. He was
clothed with zeal as with a cloak. How swift the chariot-wheels of duty
went with him! He knew no loitering by the way. Let us prove that we
are his disciples by manifesting the same spirit of zeal.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Don't Slack Off"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

June 7, 2009

DON'T SLACK OFF

Whatsoever ye shalt ask in My name, that will I do.

John 14:13
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+14:13&sr=1

Am I fulfilling this ministry of the interior? There is no snare or
any danger of infatuation or pride in intercession, it is a hidden
ministry that brings forth fruit whereby the Father is glorified. Am
I allowing my spiritual life to be frittered away, or am I bringing
it all to one centre - the Atonement of my Lord? Is Jesus Christ more
and more dominating every interest in my life? If the one central
point, the great exerting influence in my life is the Atonement of
the Lord, then every phase of my life will bear fruit for Him.

I must take time to realize what is the central point of power. Do I
give one minute out of sixty to concentrate upon it? "If ye abide in
Me" - continue to act and think and work from that centre - "ye shall
ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." Am I abiding? Am I
taking time to abide? What is the greatest factor of power in my
life? Is it work, service, sacrifice for others, or trying to work
for God? The thing that ought to exert the greatest power in my life
is the Atonement of the Lord. It is not the thing we spend the most
time on that moulds us most; the greatest element is the thing that
exerts most power. We must determine to be limited and concentrate
our affinities.

"Whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do." The disciple
who abides in Jesus is the will of God, and his apparently free
choices are God's fore-ordained decrees. Mysterious? Logically
contradictory and absurd? Yes, but a glorious truth to a saint.

Praying with Paul : "Hearts of Love and Action"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

HEARTS OF LOVE AND ACTION

2 Corinthians 8:8-9
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2+Corinthians+8:8-9

Dear Father,

Give us hearts of love, that refuse to say, "Go, be warmed and
filled," but instead give what is needful to those full of need.

Help us prove that our love is genuine, remembering that the Lord
Jesus himself was very rich in heaven with you but for our sakes he
became poor that by his poverty we might become rich.

Thank you, Jesus, for this. Thank you, Father, for giving Jesus to
us to show us the blessedness of giving to others.

In the name of Jesus I humbly ask for your help in giving us a
generous spirit. Amen.

WJD! -- Fulfilling the Mission -- Matthew 12:17-18

Fulfilling the Mission

Jesus did these things to make happen what Isaiah the prophet
said. Isaiah said, "Here is my servant; I (God) have chosen
him. I love him, and I am pleased with him; I will put my
Spirit on him, and he will judge the nations fairly."

-- Matthew 12:17-18 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Jesus is clearly living out of a sense of mission or calling. He is
doing the Father's will. Powerfully at his baptism and at his
transfiguration, Jesus is declared by God to be his Son, whom he loves.
Once again we are reminded that Jesus is chosen by God to be his
servant (son) whom he loves and who brings him pleasure. In addition,
his ministry is carried out by the power of the Holy Spirit and its
purpose is to share God's love, mercy and justice -- specifically what
Jesus has been doing. In much the same way, we are called, chosen, and
empowered by God through his Holy Spirit. He lives in us and our goal
is to bring God pleasure and to do his will. We are God's children and
Jesus' disciples. So the real question is whether or not we're trying
to live by the power of his Spirit and having as our goal in life
pleasing him and sharing his grace with others!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Abba Father, please help me to find your will for my life so that I may
serve you with undiluted devotion and bring you pleasure. Please
forgive me when I get caught up in things that are not healthy for me
spiritually and not helpful for my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Please bless me with the wisdom to know what is best to do to honor you
today and each day of the rest of my life. In Jesus' name, and because
of his grace, I pray. Amen.

Today's Verse : Matthew 7:7

June 7, 2009

VERSE:
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock
and the door will be opened to you."
-- Matthew 7:7
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Matthew+7:7

THOUGHT:
God wants us to seek his blessings. This is not because he wants
to manipulate our lives, but because he longs to bless us and have
us know the gifts in our lives come from him. So let's seek his
presence, his grace, and his blessing.

PRAYER:
Dear Father, I do need your blessing and guidance. Please bless
me in several areas that weigh heavily on my heart .... (Share with
God some things that are on your heart.) In addition, dear Father,
I need your wisdom in the following matters .... Finally, dear God,
please make your presence in my life very clear to me this week. I
don't doubt your love for me, but I really do need to be reassured
of your nearness as I face the challenges that lie before me at
this time. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
