Mustard Seed Thoughts: Nothing Too Difficult

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Nothing Too Difficult
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:26-27 NIV

Do yourself a favor! Spend some time reflecting on this question: Is anything too hard for Him?

You see, if you reflect on who God is and what He can accomplish, the trials and obstacles of life will seem less earth-shattering. Those pressures you have been handling will seem less of a burden when placed in the hands of an Almighty God.

One night when my son was six, shortly after putting him to bed, I was summoned back into his room. He was afraid. He really didn't know what of, but he knew he was afraid. As a good father, I quickly reminded him that he had nothing to fear. God is watching over him, and God cares intimately for him. I even went as far as to tell him that if he is afraid, he is essentially telling God that God can't take care of him.

So you're never afraid, Daddy? my son asked innocently.Well, no. Of course I'm afraid sometimes, but when I am, I remind myself just what I told you, I cleverly responded.

I prayed for him and left his room. I went into the den and reflected on who God is. Yes, my son was right. I do have fears, lots of them. I do get afraid many times, so I must constantly reflect on who God is. He is the maker of all things. There is nothing He cannot do. I can trust Him completely, with my bills, my relationships, my work, and my health. There is no problem too big or too small. God can do anything!

So take some time and reflect on who God is. He cares for you, and there is nothing He can't do!

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Big Fish and Lost Worms, by Steve Ridgell

I recently spent three days fishing with my son at a lake famous for
its large bass. We had a great time and caught lots of fish. As we
visited with the other fisherman, we realized we also caught more big
bass than anyone else. However, there was one oddly embarrassing fact
we discovered. We lost more plastic worms than anyone else. We hung
them on trees, rocks, and logs. Sometimes we had to break them off,
sometimes they were simply unreachable.

We cast those worms into places where it was very difficult for us to
see. It was not easy or comfortable. It cost us a number of plastic
worms to fish where we did. We could have fished the easy places and
still caught a number of fish. So why take the hard and difficult way?
Because that was where the fish we wanted to catch were located. We
followed a simple rule: to catch big fish, you need to be where they
are. So we fished in the hard to get to places, the places others did
not go.

It occurs to me that is exactly what God did when he wanted to "catch"
me. He sent his Son Jesus into the hard place to find me. It was
difficult and it was costly. God is holy and perfect. I am not. There
are so many things I should have done and did not; so many things I
should not have done, and did. So God sent his perfect Son to where I
live so he could find me. Jesus left heaven so he could find me. He
died so my failures would not be held against me, and I could live
forever in the presence of God and his son.

Jesus loved me enough to leave his home and come find me where I was.

I am so grateful that God took the initiative to come after me. He
found me. He caught me. I am so grateful that I will spend the rest of
my life "fishing" for others so they can know the good news that God
sent his Son … to catch them.

If you want to know more about the God who loved you so much that he
came after you, then contact me at steve@hopeforlife.org. Visit our

Morning & Evening -- Luke 22:48 and John 3:13

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

MORNING:

"Betrayest thou the Son of Man with a kiss?"
-- Luke 22:48

"The kisses of an enemy are deceitful." Let me be on my guard when the
world puts on a loving face, for it will, if possible, betray me as it
did my Master, with a kiss. Whenever a man is about to stab religion,
he usually professes very great reverence for it. Let me beware of the
sleek-faced hypocrisy which is armour-bearer to heresy and infidelity.
Knowing the deceivableness of unrighteousness, let me be wise as a
serpent to detect and avoid the designs of the enemy. The young man,
void of understanding, was led astray by the kiss of the strange woman:
may my soul be so graciously instructed all this day, that "the much
fair speech" of the world may have no effect upon me. Holy Spirit, let
me not, a poor frail son of man, be betrayed with a kiss!

But what if I should be guilty of the same accursed sin as Judas, that
son of perdition? I have been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus;
I am a member of his visible Church; I sit at the communion table: all
these are so many kisses of my lips. Am I sincere in them? If not, I am
a base traitor. Do I live in the world as carelessly as others do, and
yet make a profession of being a follower of Jesus? Then I must expose
religion to ridicule, and lead men to speak evil of the holy name by
which I am called. Surely if I act thus inconsistently I am a Judas,
and it were better for me that I had never been born. Dare I hope that
I am clear in this matter? Then, O Lord, keep me so. O Lord, make me
sincere and true. Preserve me from every false way. Never let me betray
my Saviour. I do love thee, Jesus, and though I often grieve thee, yet
I would desire to abide faithful even unto death. O God, forbid that I
should be a high-soaring professor, and then fall at last into the lake
of fire, because I betrayed my Master with a kiss.

EVENING:

"The Son of man."
-- John 3:13

How constantly our Master used the title, the "Son of man!" If he had
chosen, he might always have spoken of himself as the Son of God, the
Everlasting Father, the Wonderful, the Counsellor, the Prince of Peace;
but behold the lowliness of Jesus! He prefers to call himself the Son
of man. Let us learn a lesson of humility from our Saviour; let us
never court great titles nor proud degrees. There is here, however, a
far sweeter thought. Jesus loved manhood so much, that he delighted to
honour it; and since it is a high honour, and indeed, the greatest
dignity of manhood, that Jesus is the Son of man, he is wont to display
this name, that he may as it were hang royal stars upon the breast of
manhood, and show forth the love of God to Abraham's seed. Son of
man-whenever he said that word, he shed a halo round the head of Adam's
children. Yet there is perhaps a more precious thought still. Jesus
Christ called himself the Son of man to express his oneness and
sympathy with his people. He thus reminds us that he is the one whom we
may approach without fear. As a man, we may take to him all our griefs
and troubles, for he knows them by experience; in that he himself hath
suffered as the "Son of man," he is able to succour and comfort us. All
hail, thou blessed Jesus! inasmuch as thou art evermore using the sweet
name which acknowledges that thou art a brother and a near kinsman, it
is to us a dear token of thy grace, thy humility, thy love.

"Oh see how Jesus trusts himself
Unto our childish love,
As though by his free ways with us
Our earnestness to prove!
His sacred name a common word
On earth he loves to hear;
There is no majesty in him
Which love may not come near."

My Utmost For His Highest : "The Most Delicate Mission On Earth"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

March 25, 2009

THE MOST DELICATE MISSION ON EARTH

The friend of the Bridegroom.

John 3:29
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+3:29&sr=1

Goodness and purity ought never to attract attention to themselves,
they ought simply to be magnets to draw to Jesus Christ. If my
holiness is not drawing towards Him, it is not holiness of the right
order, but an influence that will awaken inordinate affection and
lead souls away into side-eddies. A beautiful saint may be a
hindrance if he does not present Jesus Christ but only what Christ
has done for him. He will leave the impression - "What a fine
character that man is!" That is not being a true friend of the
Bridegroom; I am increasing all the time, He is not.

In order to maintain this friendship and loyalty to the Bridegroom,
we have to be more careful of our moral and vital relationship to Him
than of any other thing, even of obedience. Sometimes there is
nothing to obey, the only thing to do is to maintain a vital
connection with Jesus Christ, to see that nothing interferes with
that. Only occasionally do we have to obey. When a crisis arises we
have to find out what God's will is, but the greater part of the life
is not conscious obedience but the maintenance of this relationship -
the friend of the Bridegroom. Christian work may be a means of
evading the soul's concentration on Jesus Christ. Instead of being
friends of the Bridegroom, we may become amateur providences, and may
work against Him whilst we use His weapons.

Praying with Paul : "All Things Are Ours"

--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

ALL THINGS ARE OURS

1 Corinthians 3:16-20
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+3:16-20

Dear Father, who loves to dwell with man,

Thank you for dwelling within our spirits, for making us your holy
temple!

Help us not to be deceived or to deceive ourselves. Let us be seen
as foolish to the world, let us be fools for you, that we may be
truly wise. For the wisdom of the world is pure folly in your eyes.

For it is written, "He catches the wise in their craftiness," and
"The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile." So
don't ever let us boast of men, or of ourselves. Don't let us be
impressed with Ph.D.'s, or millions of dollars, or glamor or fame,
or titles a mile long, or recognition banquets.

Give us humility, in the blessed name of Jesus. Amen.

Our Father's Graciousness

"Do any of you have a son? If your son asked for bread, would
you give him a rock? No! Or if your son asked for a fish,
would you give him a snake? No! {You are not like God}--you
are evil. But you know how to give good things to your
children. So surely your heavenly Father will give good
things to those people that ask him."

-- Matthew 7:9-11 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
If our attitude in prayer is one of persistence, God's attitude is one
of grace. He longs and loves to bless us. After all, he is our perfect
and wise Heavenly Father. If we give our children what is best for them
because we love them, our heavenly Father will do so to a completely
perfect extent. We should not only be persistent in prayer, we should
also be confident; the one who hears our prayers is our loving Father!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Abba Father, thank you for being so close to me and concerned for me.
Thank you for finding great delight in being gracious to me. Thank you
for being patient with me. Please forgive me for the times I've
disappointed you or rebelled against your will. I love you Father.
Please have your will triumph in my life. In the name of Jesus, my
older brother, I pray. Amen.

Today's Verse : Psalm 37:16-17

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

March 25, 2009

VERSE:
Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of
many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the
LORD upholds the righteous.
-- Psalm 37:16-17
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Psalm+37:16-17

THOUGHT:
What do we want to be the basis of our security? Will it be what
we can do, accomplish, achieve, earn, and hoard? Or will it be our
God, who has shown himself faithful throughout generations upon
generations? We get to choose! So what will be your choice? In what
will you find your security?

PRAYER:
Almighty God, you are the Father of Israel, God of the nations,
and my Abba Father. I place my trust in you. I know that my money,
possessions, achievements, and abilities are not my own. You have
blessed me with these to honor you and bring your grace to others.
Please keep my heart pure and focused on you. Gently purge my heart
of pride and selfishness. Please pour your blessing out on me so
that I might bring you greater glory and those I love your gracious
blessings. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
