Jesus, the Passover Lamb without Blemish

Jesus, the Passover Lamb without Blemish
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 Cor 5: 7 Purge out the old leaven that you may be a new lump,
even as you are unleavened; for our Passover, Christ, also has
been sacrificed. John 1: 29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to
him and said, Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin
of the world!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the type, the Passover lamb was examined for four days
before it was killed (Exo. 12:3-6). The Man-Savior, as the real
Passover Lamb (1 Cor. 5:7), was also examined for four days
before He was killed. He came to Bethany six days before the
Passover (John 12:1). The next day He came into Jerusalem and
went back to Bethany (John 12:12). The third day He came to
Jerusalem again and began to be examined by the leaders of the
Jews according to the Jewish law, and by Pilate, the Roman
governor, according to the Roman law until the Passover day
when He was crucified (Mark 14:12; John 18:28). This insidious
and ensnaring examination from many angles took exactly four
days. The Man-Savior passed this examination, proving that He
was fully qualified to be the Lamb required by God for the
accomplishment of His redemption so that God might pass over
the sinners, both the Jews and the Gentiles.

According to Exodus 12, each family was to take a lamb without
blemish for the Passover. We may say that the Lord Jesus was
the Passover Lamb appointed to die for the family of mankind.
In the Old Testament the lamb had to be examined to determine
if it was without blemish. In Luke 20 the chief priests,
scribes, elders, Pharisees, and Sadducees were examining the
real Passover Lamb. But they did not realize that the One they
were examining was the God-provided Lamb to die for them. This
Lamb had the highest standard of morality. In the words of
Exodus 12, He was without blemish; that is, He was altogether
perfect, without defect, without spot.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Married Singles, by Paul Faulkner

So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined
together, let no one separate (Matthew 19:6 TNIV).

Communication is to love what blood is to the body. And when
communication stops, love begins to die. Research validates that poor
communication is the main problem in eighty-six percent of troubled
marriages.

They will never truly become one.

The key to a relationship in depth is communication in depth. Husbands
and wives should discuss goals and analyze ambitions with total
honesty. They should seek solutions and rejoice together or they will
never truly become one. They will remain what some people call "married
singles."

Mature love, Christian love, doesn't come in a spasm of emotion, but
through negotiation and acceptance and forgiveness and self-discipline.
You have to work at real love. Set a time to talk regularly with your
spouse about things that matter to both of you.

Morning & Evening -- 1 Corinthians 3:1 and Job 35:10

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday, October 19, 2007

MORNING:

"Babes in Christ."
-- 1 Corinthians 3:1

Are you mourning, believer, because you are so weak in the divine life:
because your faith is so little, your love so feeble? Cheer up, for you
have cause for gratitude. Remember that in some things you are equal to
the greatest and most full-grown Christian. You are as much bought with
blood as he is. You are as much an adopted child of God as any other
believer. An infant is as truly a child of its parents as is the
full-grown man. You are as completely justified, for your justification
is not a thing of degrees: your little faith has made you clean every
whit. You have as much right to the precious things of the covenant as
the most advanced believers, for your right to covenant mercies lies
not in your growth, but in the covenant itself; and your faith in Jesus
is not the measure, but the token of your inheritance in him. You are
as rich as the richest, if not in enjoyment, yet in real possession.
The smallest star that gleams is set in heaven; the faintest ray of
light has affinity with the great orb of day. In the family register of
glory the small and the great are written with the same pen. You are as
dear to your Father's heart as the greatest in the family. Jesus is
very tender over you. You are like the smoking flax; a rougher spirit
would say, "put out that smoking flax, it fills the room with an
offensive odour!" but the smoking flax he will not quench. You are like
a bruised reed; and any less tender hand than that of the Chief
Musician would tread upon you or throw you away, but he will never
break the bruised reed. Instead of being downcast by reason of what you
are, you should triumph in Christ. Am I but little in Israel? Yet in
Christ I am made to sit in heavenly places. Am I poor in faith? Still
in Jesus I am heir of all things. Though "less than nothing I can
boast, and vanity confess." yet, if the root of the matter be in me I
will rejoice in the Lord, and glory in the God of my salvation.

EVENING:

"God, my maker, who giveth songs in the night."
-- Job 35:10

Any man can sing in the day. When the cup is full, man draws
inspiration from it. When wealth rolls in abundance around him, any man
can praise the God who gives a plenteous harvest or sends home a loaded
argosy. It is easy enough for an Aeolian harp to whisper music when the
winds blow-the difficulty is for music to swell forth when no wind is
stirring. It is easy to sing when we can read the notes by daylight;
but he is skilful who sings when there is not a ray of light to read
by-who sings from his heart. No man can make a song in the night of
himself; he may attempt it, but he will find that a song in the night
must be divinely inspired. Let all things go well, I can weave songs,
fashioning them wherever I go out of the flowers that grow upon my
path; but put me in a desert, where no green thing grows, and wherewith
shall I frame a hymn of praise to God? How shall a mortal man make a
crown for the Lord where no jewels are? Let but this voice be clear,
and this body full of health, and I can sing God's praise: silence my
tongue, lay me upon the bed of languishing, and how shall I then chant
God's high praises, unless he himself give me the song? No, it is not
in man's power to sing when all is adverse, unless an altar-coal shall
touch his lip. It was a divine song, which Habakkuk sang, when in the
night he said, "Although the fig-tree shall not blossom, neither shall
fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the
fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold,
and there shall be no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in the
Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation." Then, since our Maker
gives songs in the night, let us wait upon him for the music. O thou
chief musician, let us not remain songless because affliction is upon
us, but tune thou our lips to the melody of thanksgiving.

Mustard Seed Thought: God's Promises Ten

You have made known to me the paths of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence.' Acts 2:28 NIV

God has a promise to you of joy! Here again, however, there is a condition to this promise. You must be in His presence!

A young man called me recently wanting to share something he was reading in God's Word. As he shared, he said something was bothering him. It seems that as he has been seeking God, he has gotten so excited about the Lord, but no one around him seems to share in his excitement. "It's almost like they don't understand," he said. Dear friend, it's because they don't. They can't understand that kind of joy, because that is not currently their testimony.

What's the difference? My friend is regularly going into the presence of the Lord. Its there that he finds real joy!

How do you get in the presence of the Lord? Well, first you must have a way to get there. I don't mind telling you how if you aren't sure. You can only get into the presence of God through Jesus Christ. He is our access. (That's just another way of saying He is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life!) You have to start with a relationship. God wants it with you, but because of your sin, you must have a mediator between God and man. Jesus Christ is that bridge that allows a sinful man to enter into the presence of a Holy God.

Second, you must stay in His presence. Yes, I believe that if you are saved, then positionally you are with Christ, and God said Himself that He would not let His children go, but just because I'm married to my wife doesn't mean we are automatically close. If I schedule my entire week without including her anywhere in it, we are going to have a break in our fellowship. (and I'm going to be sleeping on the couch!) When you and I fall into sin we are not in the presence of God. God will not go where there is sin.

Third, we must abide in that presence. It is not enough to know the Lord and try to live a holy life, because we will still battle our flesh everyday. We must consistently, day by day, hour by hour, rest in Christ's love and grace. We must dwell in His presence, soaking up His glory and allowing Him to fill us and express Himself through us. It is that kind of life that will produce real joy.

Dear Lord, as we dwell in Your presence today, will You share with us Your joy. "The Joy of the Lord will be our strength." (Nehemiah 8:10)

My Utmost For His Highest : "The Unheeded Secret"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

October 19, 2007

THE UNHEEDED SECRET

My kingdom is not of this world.

John 18:36

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+18:36&sr=1

The great enemy to the Lord Jesus Christ in the present day is the
conception of practical work that has not come from the New
Testament, but from the Systems of the world in which endless energy
and activities are insisted upon, but no private life with God. The
emphasis is put on the wrong thing. Jesus said, "The kingdom of God
cometh not with observation, for lo the kingdom of God is within
you," a hidden, obscure thing. An active Christian worker too often
lives in the shop window. It is the innermost of the innermost that
reveals the power of the life.

We have to get rid of the plague of the spirit of the religious age
in which we live. In Our Lord's life there was none of the press and
rush of tremendous activity that we regard so highly, and the
disciple is to be as His Master. The central thing about the kingdom
of Jesus Christ is a personal relationship to Himself, not public
usefulness to men.

It is not its practical activities that are the strength of this
Bible Training College, its whole strength lies in the fact that here
you are put into soak before God. You have no idea of where God is
going to engineer your circumstances, no knowledge of what strain is
going to be put on you either at home or abroad, and if you waste
your time in over-active energies instead of getting into soak on the
great fundamental truths of God's Redemption, you will snap when the
strain comes; but if this time of soaking before God is being spent
in getting rooted and grounded in God on the unpractical line, you
will remain true to Him what ever happens.

WISDOM MADE KNOWN

Ephesians 3:9-12

Dear Father, who gives wisdom so generously,

How thankful I am that the congregation of your people has become
the channel through which your multi-faceted and many-splendored
wisdom will be made known to the principalities and powers in the
heavenly places. It thrills me to know that it was your purpose
eternally to realize this in Christ Jesus my Lord.

Thank you that through him we have confident and bold access to
you.

Help me, help all of your people, not to lose heart over what we
suffer and what our leaders suffer for us. Help us to see this as
our glory!

In the name of Jesus I give you thanks and make these requests.
Amen.

Keep Praying!

"Once there was a judge in a town. He did not care about God.
The judge also did not care what people thought about him. In
that same town there was a woman. Her husband was dead. The
woman came many times to this judge and said, 'There is a man
that is doing bad things to me. Give me my rights!' But the
judge did not want to help the woman. After a long time, the
judge thought to himself, 'I don't care about God. And I
don't care about what people think. But this woman is
bothering me. If I give her what she wants, then she will
leave me alone. But if I don't give her what she wants, she
will bother me until I am sick!'" The Lord (Jesus) said,
"Listen! {There is meaning} in what the bad judge said. God's
people shout to him night and day. God will always give his
people what is right. God will not be slow to answer his
people."

-- Luke 18:2-7 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Jesus' point is that if an evil and unrighteous judge will eventually
give in to get a complaining and persistent, but powerless woman off
his back, then we can surely count on God -- who loves us dearly -- to
hear us and respond in ways that are for our best good. So we need to
.. keep praying ... never give up ... for God will hear and respond.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Almighty and eternal Father, God Almighty, please hear the things on my
heart today. There are a number of things that trouble me, please hear
my requests and do what is best in each situation. (Lay out the things
that trouble your heart to the LORD.) Father, I am concerned about
several people who are facing really challenging times. Please bless
each of them with what they most need as I bring each name before you.
(Share the names of those for whom you have concern with the LORD.)
Thank you for hearing me and working in the situations I have placed
before you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Today's Verse : Zechariah 7:9-10

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

October 19, 2007

VERSE:
This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Administer true justice;
show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow
or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not
think evil of each other."
-- Zechariah 7:9-10

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Zechariah+7:9-10

THOUGHT:
Do you want a clear, simple, straightforward word from the Lord
today? That's what Zechariah gives us. He reminds us that God wants
us to be fair, compassionate, caring, without prejudice, and
tenderhearted to those in need, and to give each other the benefit
of the doubt. In other words, he wants us to treat each other like
Christ treated people. Why? Because we can't be right with God and
be wrong with people!

PRAYER:
Loving Father, please forgive me for the times I've gotten
bogged down with hard-to-understand verses in Scripture and ignored
your clear teaching on how to live. Please give me the opportunity
this week to live like you have commanded me. In the future, when
my heart grows cold or my response to others is not what it should
be, please use your Spirit to bring to my remembrance this passage
so that I might live it to your glory. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
