Your Kingdom Come

Your Kingdom Come

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bible Verses ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matt. 6:10 Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in
heaven, so also on earth.
Rev. 11:15 And the seventh angel trumpeted; and there were
loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has
become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He
will reign forever and ever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words of Ministry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Lord teaches us to pray, "Your kingdom come." This means
that the kingdom of God is in heaven, but the kingdom of God
is not on earth. Consequently, we have to pray for God to
expand the heavenly sphere to the earth. The Lord said, "If
I, by the Spirit of God, cast out the demons, then the
kingdom of God has come upon you" (Matt. 12:28). The kingdom
of God is wherever the Son of God casts out demons. When the
Lord Jesus came, we had the declaration of John the Baptist,
who proclaimed that the kingdom of the heavens had drawn near
(Matt. 3:1-2). Today the kingdom of God is wherever God's
children cast the demons and their works out by the Spirit of
God. In asking us to pray for His kingdom to come, the Lord
is looking forward to the time when God's kingdom will fill
the whole earth.

"Your kingdom come!" This is not only a desire of the church,
but also a responsibility of the church. The church should
bring in God's kingdom. In order to bring in God's kingdom,
the church has to pay the price to be restricted by heaven
and come under heaven's rule. It has to be the outlet for
heaven, and it has to allow heaven's authority to be
expressed on earth. In order to bring in God's kingdom, the
church has to know all the schemes of Satan (2 Cor. 2:11). It
has to put on the whole armor of God and stand against the
stratagems of the devil (Eph. 6:11), for wherever the kingdom
of God is, the devil is cast out. When the kingdom of God
rules on earth fully, Satan will be cast into the abyss (Rev.
20:1-3). Since the church has such a tremendous
responsibility, Satan will do all he can to attack the
church. May the church pray like the saints of old, "O
Jehovah, bow Your heavens down and descend" (Psa. 144:5). Oh
that You would rend the heavens, that You would come down"
(Isa. 64:1). At the same time, we should say to Satan,
"Depart from the earth immediately, and go to the eternal
fire which God has prepared for you" (cf. Matt. 25:41).

Today's Verse : Nehemiah 12:30

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

December 30, 2008

VERSE:
When the priests and Levites had purified themselves
ceremonially, they purified the people, the gates and the wall.
-- Nehemiah 12:30
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Nehemiah+12:30

THOUGHT:
God has placed each of us in a circle of influence. Before we
try to "clean up" those around us, let's first offer ourselves to
God to be consecrated and to be made pure by his grace. Then, let's
live in a way that shows the impact of that holiness in our lives.
Jesus told us to remove the plank from our own eye before we try to
clean the speck out of someone else's eye. For leaders at any
level, "living holy" is essential before calling others to
holiness! God's greatest times of spiritual renewal begin when
leaders first consecrate themselves to God and his work.

PRAYER:
O Father in heaven, forgive me for my sins. I want to be pure
and holy, cleansed by your Spirit and forgiven by your grace.
Please bless me as I seek to live a holy life before those I
influence. I need your powerful help to be the example and person
of character that you want me to be, and that my friends need me to
be. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

- Dear Friend,I am MRS. SUHA ARAFAT, the wife of late YASSER ARAFAT, the Palestinian leader who died on November 11, 2004 in Paris . Since his death and even prior to the announcement, I have been thrown into a state of antagonism, confusion, humiliation, frustration and hopelessness by the present leadership of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the new Prime Minister. I have even been subjected to physical and psychological torture. As a widow that is so traumatized, I have lost confidence with everybody in the country at the moment, and for this reason I and my only daughter had to flee to Tunisia to live. I had been living in Tunisia ever since my husband died in 2004 until recently I was expulsed from the country over some political and controversial issues which also resulted in confiscation of all my assets and business investments and frozen of my bank accounts. I knew it was a plot and perfected arrangement from the presidency to push me out of a large business cartel I am in control of in Tunisia. Well I am not surprise of this development, although I have relocated to Valletta Malta where I am presently residing to begin a new life with my only daughter. Please I am writing you this email with a heart full of pains and sorrow, and for the reasons of all I have stated above, I would want you to treat this email and its content very confidential and under no circumstances would you disclose this to anyone. And I also want to inform you that I have been under security surveillances by the Palestinian Government since after the death of my husband because of some undisclosable bank accounts of my late husband which he made me the beneficiary. It is based on this fact that I am asking for your total confidentiality of this transaction. Therefore the basis of my email to you was to seek your consent, assistance and cooperation to re-profile ownership of this fund in the secrete account into your name so that it would not be traced to my late husband name and my name; otherwise it would be confiscated by the Palestinian Government. In this regard and based on my nomination of you as my trustee, you would have to make an application on my behalf to the bank for change of ownership of this account into your name to enable you wire out the funds from this bank to another bank of your choice that you considered safe and low tax. For security reasons I would not disclose the name of the bank and the amount involved until you in good faith agreed to consent to work with me. I plead for your acceptance of my offer for a 40% sharing of the total funds to you. If you agreed and accept my proposal in good faith, please send me your full details as follows; your Name, Address, Phone and Fax number and your international passport OR Drivers license identification for this preliminary stage of introduction of you to the bank. But in case you don't accept my offer, please do not let me out to the security and international media as I am giving you this information in total trust and confidence. I wait for your urgent response!! Thanks for your anticipated cooperation!!Yours truly,Mrs. Suha.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: New Trust 1

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
New Trust 1
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
I trust in you for salvation, O LORD! Genesis 49:18 NLT

The word trust appears nearly 150 times in the Bible. The word trust frequently describes the faith a person places in something. It refers to a sincere confidence. Trust can be a noun or a verb. You can have trust (noun) or choose to trust (verb). This week lets consider that word in the context of the Bible.

As seen in todays verse, trust is first and foremost for salvation. We choose to trust that God can save us, we place our trust in Him alone, and then we confidently trust that we have salvation. Each of these acts of trust is based on the promises God has given us in His Word and the unchanging character of God insures them.

As we go through this series, please examine how the word trust identifies your faith in God. Have you chosen Christ as your salvation? Is Jesus alone your means to get to God? Are you confident in your salvation because of the trust you have in the promises an d power of God to save you? Life has a way of trying to destroy your trust, but you must choose to trust the God of the Bible. Have you? Do you trust Him more each day?

As a New Year approaches, will your level of trust increase? Do you trust the God's goodness, His mercy and grace for 2009? Lord, help us to grow our trust in You.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Star Bright, by Phil Ware

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will
all be changed -- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the
last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised
imperishable, and we will be changed (1 Corinthians 15:51-52 TNIV).

In the blink of an eye, or the twinkling of a star, everything can
change. Just ask the stargazers from the distant east. There it was,
hung in the heavens for anyone interested to see -- a celestial event
signaling the birth of someone great. These stargazers we call the Magi
traveled west across the Fertile Crescent for days covering hundreds of
miles, and quite possibly arriving first at possibly Herodium --
Herod's fortress -- towering 2,500 feet above the horizon and 7.5 miles
southeast of Bethlehem. Their confusion was understandable. This marvel
of Herod's building enterprise was a lavish fortress for the ruthless
King Herod whose tyrannical rule controlled the Jews. But when no king
was there, they traveled to Jerusalem and found King Herod there. They
asked him:

"Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his
star when it rose and have come to worship him" (Matthew 2:2).

The star changed everything for the Magi. The child changed everything
for Joseph and Mary. The Magi's visit changed everything for Herod.
And, if we listen with our hearts, the Magi's visit (Matthew 2:1-12)
can change everything for us.

In many ways, we've lost our sense of wonder at this strange and
mysterious story. After all, the Magi didn't visit baby Jesus at the
manger, but at a house (Matthew 2:5). They probably came from the land
we call Iran to honor the birth of the King of the Jews. Meanwhile, the
Jewish religious leaders determined from their own prophets where the
Messiah was to be born: the tiny and insignificant city of Bethlehem (Matthew
2:4-6). Rather than going to search for this Child to welcome Him as
Messiah and King, they sent the Magi to find Him. When they tricked
Herod and went home a different way, Herod sent soldiers to eliminate
this Child as a threat to his control (Matthew 2:16-18).

To make matters even more interesting, these traveling stargazers were
experts in a practice now called astrology, a form of witchcraft
forbidden and punished by death under the Law of Moses (Deuteronomy
18:10-15; also see Revelation 22:12-17). Yet these foreigners used
their false religion to find their way to God's true Savior. When they
found the Child Jesus, they bowed down and worshiped Him, giving Him
expensive gifts they had brought from their homeland (Matthew 2:11).

This story is full of convicting irony, yet full of God's glorious
mystery and grace. Our Heavenly Father longs for us to celebrate His
mystery as we worship Him in "reverence and awe" (Hebrews 12:28-29). He
speaks to us and gives us His "great and precious promises" (2 Peter
1:4) in Scripture, and if we listen with our hearts, it will lead us to
His salvation through our faith in Jesus, the Messiah (2 Timothy 2:15).

Everything can change!

This holy and awesome God does not want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9)
without knowing of His great love (John 3:16-17). So He is not without
a voice among those who do not know Him from Scripture (Acts 14:17).
Instead, He made all of us to "seek him and perhaps reach out for him
and find him, though he is not far from any one of us" (Acts 17:27).
This Messiah God sent, this very Son He gave to reveal His heart to us
(John 1:14-18), promised that if we would seek Him we would find Him (Luke
11:9).

While Christmas, with all it's bows and wrapping paper may be past, if
we look, we can still find the stars -- stars on top of trees, stars in
the homogenized "holiday" displays in town squares, and stars in the
heavens above us. And if we choose to look upon these stars with
wonder, they will lead us back to Bethlehem, to a child who the
religious plotted to kill and seekers from the East journeyed to find.
And in the mystery, confusion, and wonder of it all, we too can bow
down and worship Jesus and celebrate the sacrificial love of God. We
can bring Him our gifts and find fresh joy in Him, for God made sure
that He is within reach of all of us who honestly look up and see the
stars, wonder, and are willing to share the journey to find Him.

Yes, in the blink of an eye, or a twinkling of a star, everything can
change!

Morning & Evening -- 1 Samuel 7:12 and Matthew 22:42

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday, December 29, 2008

MORNING:

"Hitherto hath the Lord helped us."
-- 1 Samuel 7:12

The word "hitherto" seems like a hand pointing in the direction of the
past. Twenty years or seventy, and yet, "hitherto the Lord hath
helped!" Through poverty, through wealth, through sickness, through
health, at home, abroad, on the land, on the sea, in honour, in
dishonour, in perplexity, in joy, in trial, in triumph, in prayer, in
temptation, "hitherto hath the Lord helped us!" We delight to look down
a long avenue of trees. It is delightful to gaze from end to end of the
long vista, a sort of verdant temple, with its branching pillars and
its arches of leaves; even so look down the long aisles of your years,
at the green boughs of mercy overhead, and the strong pillars of
lovingkindness and faithfulness which bear up your joys. Are there no
birds in yonder branches singing? Surely there must be many, and they
all sing of mercy received "hitherto."

But the word also points forward. For when a man gets up to a certain
mark and writes "hitherto," he is not yet at the end, there is still a
distance to be traversed. More trials, more joys; more temptations,
more triumphs; more prayers, more answers; more toils, more strength;
more fights, more victories; and then come sickness, old age, disease,
death. Is it over now? No! there is more yet-awakening in Jesus'
likeness, thrones, harps, songs, psalms, white raiment, the face of
Jesus, the society of saints, the glory of God, the fulness of
eternity, the infinity of bliss. O be of good courage, believer, and
with grateful confidence raise thy "Ebenezer," for-

He who hath helped thee hitherto
Will help thee all thy journey through.

When read in heaven's light how glorious and marvellous a prospect will
thy "hitherto" unfold to thy grateful eye!

EVENING:

"What think ye of Christ?"
-- Matthew 22:42

The great test of your soul's health is, What think you of Christ? Is
he to you "fairer than the children of men"-"the chief among ten
thousand"-the "altogether lovely"? Wherever Christ is thus esteemed,
all the faculties of the spiritual man exercise themselves with energy.
I will judge of your piety by this barometer: does Christ stand high or
low with you? If you have thought little of Christ, if you have been
content to live without his presence, if you have cared little for his
honour, if you have been neglectful of his laws, then I know that your
soul is sick-God grant that it may not be sick unto death! But if the
first thought of your spirit has been, how can I honour Jesus? If the
daily desire of your soul has been, "O that I knew where I might find
him!" I tell you that you may have a thousand infirmities, and even
scarcely know whether you are a child of God at all, and yet I am
persuaded, beyond a doubt, that you are safe, since Jesus is great in
your esteem. I care not for thy rags, what thinkest thou of his royal
apparel? I care not for thy wounds, though they bleed in torrents, what
thinkest thou of his wounds? are they like glittering rubies in thine
esteem? I think none the less of thee, though thou liest like Lazarus
on the dunghill, and the dogs do lick thee-I judge thee not by thy
poverty: what thinkest thou of the King in his beauty? Has he a
glorious high throne in thy heart? Wouldest thou set him higher if thou
couldest? Wouldest thou be willing to die if thou couldest but add
another trumpet to the strain which proclaims his praise? Ah! then it
is well with thee. Whatever thou mayest think of thyself, if Christ be
great to thee, thou shalt be with him ere long.

"Though all the world my choice deride,
Yet Jesus shall my portion be;
For I am pleased with none beside,
The fairest of the fair is he"

My Utmost For His Highest : "Deserter Or Disciple?"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

December 29, 2008

DESERTER OR DISCIPLE?

From that time many of His disciples went back, and
walked no more with Him.

John 6:66
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+6:66&sr=1

When God gives a vision by His Spirit through His word of what He
wants, and your mind and soul thrill to it, if you do not walk in the
light of that vision, you will sink into servitude to a point of view
which Our Lord never had. Disobedience in mind to the heavenly vision
will make you a slave to points of view that are alien to Jesus
Christ. Do not look at someone else and say - Well, if he can have
those views and prosper, why cannot I? You have to walk in the light
of the vision that has been given to you and not compare yourself
with others or judge them, that is between them and God. When you
find that a point of view in which you have been delighting clashes
with the heavenly vision and you debate, certain things will begin to
develop in you - a sense of property and a sense of personal right,
things of which Jesus Christ made nothing. He was always against
these things as being the root of everything alien to Himself. "A
man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things that he
possesseth." If we do not recognize this, it is because we are
ignoring the undercurrent of Our Lord's teaching.

We are apt to lie back and bask in the memory of the wonderful
experience we have had. If there is one standard in the New Testament
revealed by the light of God and you do not come up to it, and do not
feel inclined to come up to it, that is the beginning of backsliding,
because it means your conscience does not answer to the truth. You
can never be the same after the unveiling of a truth. That moment
marks you for going on as a more true disciple of Jesus Christ or for
going back as a deserter.

Dear Father,

Help us to remember each other earnestly in our prayers.

Help us to stand mature and to be fully assured in your will.

Help us encourage one another to carry our assigned works to
completion.

Help us fulfil whatever ministry we have received in the Lord.

Help us to remember those who are in prison, and those who suffer
in any way for your service.

May your perfect grace sustain and keep all of us.

In the name of Jesus I ask. Amen.

WJD! -- You Will See Him in the Place of Ministry -- Mark 16:7

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------

You Will See Him in the Place of Ministry

[The man in the tomb said:] "Now go and tell his followers.
And be sure to tell Peter. Tell them, 'Jesus is going into
Galilee. He will be there before you. You will see him there
like he told you before.'"

-- Mark 16:7 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Jesus was about ministry. He wanted his disciples to carry on his
ministry. So he wanted them to know that as they ministered in his
name, he would be with them. They would see him personally raised from
the dead after his resurrection, but they could also "see" him after
his ascension by ministering to others. Jesus continues to meet his
followers in the places of ministry. While it is not emphasized in
Mark, Matthew speaks of Jesus as Immanuel -- God with us. Then Jesus
reminds his disciples that they will experience his presence in their
fellowship and worship (Matt. 18:20), in their service to those in need
(Matt. 25:27-30), and in crossing cultural boundaries to share his
teaching with others (Matt. 28:18-20). Matthew will be the focus of
this next year's "What Jesus Did!" devotional series. As we stand at
the close of one year and look forward to another, let's use both Mark
and Matthew to remind us that Jesus will meet us in the place of
ministry!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Gracious, holy, and merciful God, please use me as an instrument of
your peace, grace, and reconciliation. May I be found as a "vessel of
honor"* -- a tool you can use for your purposes in ministry to others.
I know, dear Father, that your Son will be present as I minister.
Please make his presence real to me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. (*
This phrase comes from older translations of 2 Tim. 2:21, one of our
parallel passages that accompany this devotional.)
