Having God’s Life and Shall Never Perish (2)

Having God's Life and Shall Never Perish (2)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John 3: 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that every one who believes into Him would not
perish, but would have eternal life.
John 10:28 And I give to them eternal life, and they shall by
no means perish forever, and no one shall snatch them out of My
hand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Part 2 of 2)
This initial salvation of God has saved us from God's
condemnation and from eternal perdition (John 3:18, 16).
However, although this initial salvation saves us from God's
condemnation and from eternal perdition, it does not save us
from God's discipline. During our lifetime God will discipline
us and may even punish us. In 1 Corinthians 11 Paul indicates
that God judges, disciplines, and even punishes the believers.
This does not mean, however, that those who are disciplined by
God will lose their salvation.

According to Scripture, on the one hand, we have been saved for
eternity. We shall never be condemned by God, and we shall
never perish. On the other hand, while we are living on earth
in the flesh, God will deal with us and discipline us.
Sometimes He may even judge us or punish us. Although we shall
never perish, we may experience God's discipline during our
lifetime. But it is altogether contrary to the Bible to teach
that to be disciplined by God means that we shall lose our
salvation. God may punish us for certain things, but we have
been saved for eternity and we shall never lose this eternal
salvation.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

A Dog's Life, by Steve Ridgell

Remington is my Golden Retriever, and we have a good life together. I
know it sounds odd to some of you, but we really have a good
relationship. I take care of him. I have since he was a puppy. I
provide shelter, food, and watch out for him in ways he does not even
understand. I really do love him.

I also should confess that I like the way he treats me. He adores me. I
can see it in his eyes. I can do no wrong. He completely trusts in the
fact that I will take care of him and do what is best for him. He is so
excited to see me when I get home. His tail wags so hard he shakes all
over. Sometimes he even has to bark just to let me know how happy he
is.

Remington is completely devoted to me. By extension, he is completely
devoted to my wife, to my grandkids, and to anyone I let in the house.
He is protective of our house. He even warns the birds and squirrels to
stay away. He would do anything I ask him to do. He would die for me.

I know he is not my equal. He cannot think on my level. I doubt he
understands why he has to stay in a backyard. Yet he minds me. He is
not a perfect dog. Sometimes he needs a little correction and a little
discipline. But he is my dog, and I love him.

It occurs to me that Remington has helped me understand my relationship
with God. In that relationship I am like Remington and God is my
master. He takes care of me, provides for me, disciplines me for my
good, and loves me unconditionally. He is so far superior to me that I
do not even recognize it sometimes.

And I can learn from Remington how to treat my Master: with love,
adoration, obedience, and trust.

It is a dog's life, and I would say that Remington and I both have it
better than we deserve. You can too.

I never realized how much my dog would teach me...

Morning & Evening -- 1 Peter 1:19 and Exodus 17:12

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

MORNING:

"The precious blood of Christ."
-- 1 Peter 1:19

Standing at the foot of the cross, we see hands, and feet, and side,
all distilling crimson streams of precious blood. It is "precious"
because of its redeeming and atoning efficacy. By it the sins of
Christ's people are atoned for; they are redeemed from under the law;
they are reconciled to God, made one with him. Christ's blood is also
"precious" in its cleansing power; it "cleanseth from all sin." "Though
your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." Through
Jesus' blood there is not a spot left upon any believer, no wrinkle nor
any such thing remains. O precious blood, which makes us clean,
removing the stains of abundant iniquity, and permitting us to stand
accepted in the Beloved, notwithstanding the many ways in which we have
rebelled against our God. The blood of Christ is likewise "precious" in
its preserving power. We are safe from the destroying angel under the
sprinkled blood. Remember it is God's seeing the blood which is the
true reason for our being spared. Here is comfort for us when the eye
of faith is dim, for God's eye is still the same. The blood of Christ
is "precious" also in its sanctifying influence. The same blood which
justifies by taking away sin, does in its after-action, quicken the new
nature and lead it onward to subdue sin and to follow out the commands
of God. There is no motive for holiness so great as that which streams
from the veins of Jesus. And "precious," unspeakably precious, is this
blood, because it has an overcoming power. It is written, "They
overcame through the blood of the Lamb." How could they do otherwise?
He who fights with the precious blood of Jesus, fights with a weapon
which cannot know defeat. The blood of Jesus! sin dies at its presence,
death ceases to be death: heaven's gates are opened. The blood of
Jesus! we shall march on, conquering and to conquer, so long as we can
trust its power!

EVENING:

"And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun."
-- Exodus 17:12

So mighty was the prayer of Moses, that all depended upon it. The
petitions of Moses discomfited the enemy more than the fighting of
Joshua. Yet both were needed. No, in the soul's conflict, force and
fervour, decision and devotion, valour and vehemence, must join their
forces, and all will be well. You must wrestle with your sin, but the
major part of the wrestling must be done alone in private with God.
Prayer, like Moses', holds up the token of the covenant before the
Lord. The rod was the emblem of God's working with Moses, the symbol of
God's government in Israel. Learn, O pleading saint, to hold up the
promise and the oath of God before him. The Lord cannot deny his own
declarations. Hold up the rod of promise, and have what you will.

Moses grew weary, and then his friends assisted him. When at any time
your prayer flags, let faith support one hand, and let holy hope uplift
the other, and prayer seating itself upon the stone of Israel, the rock
of our salvation, will persevere and prevail. Beware of faintness in
devotion; if Moses felt it, who can escape? It is far easier to fight
with sin in public, than to pray against it in private. It is remarked
that Joshua never grew weary in the fighting, but Moses did grow weary
in the praying; the more spiritual an exercise, the more difficult it
is for flesh and blood to maintain it. Let us cry, then, for special
strength, and may the Spirit of God, who helpeth our infirmities, as he
allowed help to Moses, enable us like him to continue with our hands
steady "until the going down of the sun;" till the evening of life is
over; till we shall come to the rising of a better sun in the land
where prayer is swallowed up in praise.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Can You Come Down?"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 16, 2008

CAN YOU COME DOWN?

While ye have light, believe in the light.

John 12:36

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+12:36&sr=1

We all have moments when we feel better than our best, and we say -
"I feel fit for anything; if only I could be like this always!" We
are not meant to be. Those moments are moments of in sight which we
have to live up to when we do not feel like it. Many of us are no
good for this workaday world when there is no high hour. We must
bring our commonplace life up to the standard revealed in the high
hour.

Never allow a feeling which was stirred in you in the high hour to
evaporate. Don't put your mental feet on the mantelpiece and say -
"What a marvellous state of mind to be in!" Act immediately, do
something, if only because you would rather not do it. If in a prayer
meeting God has shown you something to do, don't say - "I'll do it";
do it! Take yourself by the scruff of the neck and shake off your
incarnate laziness. Laziness is always seen in cravings for the high
hour; we talk about working up to a time on the mount. We have to
learn to live in the grey day according to what we saw on the mount.

Don't cave in because you have been baffled once, get at it again.
Burn your bridges behind you, and stand committed to God by your own
act. Never revise your decisions, but see that you make your
decisions in the light of the high hour.

Praying with Paul : "Nothing between God and Me"

NOTHING BETWEEN GOD AND ME

1 Corinthians 10:14-22

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+10:14-22

Dear Father,

Never let an idol stand between me and you. I am not stronger than
you. I don't want to provoke you to jealousy.

Help me to understand that while "all things are lawful," all
things are not helpful.

Let everything I do, whether working or resting, eating or
drinking, be done for your glory.

May I never worship myself, live for myself, or strive to please
myself. I want to worship you, to live for you, to please you.

In the name of Jesus and in reliance upon his example I ask this.
Amen.

WJD! -- Compassionate Teaching -- Mark 6:33-34

Compassionate Teaching

But many people saw them leave. The people knew it was Jesus.
So people from all the towns ran to the place where Jesus was
going. The people were there before Jesus arrived. When Jesus
arrived there, he saw many people waiting. Jesus felt sorry
for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd {to
care for them}. So Jesus taught the people many things.

-- Mark 6:33-34 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Jesus was tired and the people were spiritually lost and in danger --
"sheep without a shepherd." So Jesus gave them what they needed most:
"He taught them many things." A "shepherd and teacher" from a Christian
point of view is redundant. A shepherd teaches by guiding, leading,
protecting, correcting, and caring. Let's call our modern Christian
teachers to that high standard! They must do more and be more than a
classroom lecturer. They must live the message they teach and love the
people with whom they share it.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O dear Father, please give your people, your Church, more genuine
"shepherds and teachers." So often, your people are like sheep without
a shepherd. Please raise up more shepherds among us! In Jesus' name we
fervently ask this. Amen.

Today's Verse : Ephesians 4:16

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 16, 2008

VERSE:
From him [Christ] the whole body, joined and held together by
every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as
each part does its work.
-- Ephesians 4:16

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Ephesians+4:16

THOUGHT:
Ephesians and Colossians emphasize that no human being, or even
group of human beings, is head of the Church. Jesus is head of the
Church. He sets our direction. He is our example. He is our goal
for ministry. In addition, Jesus also arranges us in his Body as he
chooses, gives us gifts to use to bless each other and God, and
holds us together so that we can effectively serve as his presence
in the world. So let's set our hearts on Jesus. Let's use his life
and love to inspire us and show us how to serve. Let's give him our
allegiance and loyalty. He alone is head of his Body, the Church.
Let's let him lead!

PRAYER:
Righteous Father, thank you for Jesus. Thank you for his
example, service, obedience, love, and sacrifice. Thank you for his
resurrection, exaltation, power, and presence today in your Church
and in my life. Father, please use me, and my brothers and sisters
in Christ with me, to do his work in our world and share your grace
with all who are lost. In the name of the Lord Jesus I pray. Amen.
