=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

God's Gift of Family Grace, by Phil Ware

Sometimes the stories behind the scenes are the main story. Our church
was packed, and the excitement was electric. But the best story on this
Mothers' Day was unknown to most in the crowded sanctuary. Crammed onto
one big row was a family only the Lord, through His grace, could pull
together.

More than two decades earlier, a new Christian found out she was
pregnant. She had found the Lord as part of a campus ministry at a
major university. While her parents wanted her to come home so they
could care for her -- but only if she would leave behind her new church
commitment -- this young pregnant woman decided to stay with a family
involved in the campus ministry. After much prayer, she lovingly
decided to share her daughter -- we'll call her Erin* -- with a
Christian family longing to adopt a child. This was no small decision,
but one she believed would bless Erin and honor her commitment to the
Lord.

Now on Mothers' Day Sunday, more than two decades later, this mom sat
on the same row at church with her parents. Joining them was Erin, the
daughter she placed through adoption so many years earlier. Also
joining them was the case worker who helped with the adoption process.
Even a member of the family where Erin's mother had lived while she was
pregnant was part of the group. The day before, they had all been
together with Erin's adoptive parents celebrating celebrating her
graduation from college.

Such a sweet, God-provided reunion happened because of two powerful
loves -- love for the Lord and love for a baby. Only now, the baby was
a young lady who graduated from college the day before and was bringing
her big, extended family with her to her church. Those of us who knew
could barely speak because of the emotion and lump in our throats. What
a sweet blessing of grace. What a beautiful glimpse of the reunions
that will be ours in heaven.

While I can never know the depth of love or emotion that goes into a
woman's decision to share her child through adoption, I deeply
appreciate it. That's why I am on the board of a group that helps make
these kinds of opportunities for birth moms, babies, and adoptive
families possible.

Several years ago, I began to give a gift to honor each of my dads on
Fathers' Day. Yes, that's plural -- dads. My physical father died 28
years ago and my mom re-married a great, godly man who is also my dad.
Rather than spend money on a tie my father would never use or on golf
balls my dad would lose, I decided to give a gift to Christian Homes
and Family Services, in honor of my dad, to help an unborn child find a
dad and mom through adoption. Now I encourage other folks to join me in
this effort through a program called "Tied to Life."

I believe that it is absolutely crucial for those of us who are
pro-life to also make sure we are providing the opportunities for birth
moms and babies to know that life means an opportunity to become all
God has made that child to be. So I'd like to encourage you to join me
in taking part in being "Tied to Life"! You can find out more about it
online:
http://www.christianhomes.com/tiedtolife/index.html

I believe that it is absolutely crucial for us!

And if you are already supporting an endeavor like this, then I want to
encourage you to use Fathers' Day as a time to give them some
additional support.

Either way, I can assure you from this Dad's point of view, I couldn't
ask for a greater gift on Fathers' Day than a bucket of chicken, a few
hours to watch the US Open, and an envelope that says I'm "Tied to Life"!

Do you have a personal story of adoption's blessings?

Do you have any personal messages you would like to share with a birth
mom considering adoption as a good thing for her baby?

Morning & Evening -- Ecclesiastes 10:7 and 1 Kings 19:4

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday, May 19, 2008

MORNING:

"I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as
servants upon the earth."
-- Ecclesiastes 10:7

Upstarts frequently usurp the highest places, while the truly great
pine in obscurity. This is a riddle in providence whose solution will
one day gladden the hearts of the upright; but it is so common a fact,
that none of us should murmur if it should fall to our own lot. When
our Lord was upon earth, although he is the Prince of the kings of the
earth, yet he walked the footpath of weariness and service as the
Servant of servants: what wonder is it if his followers, who are
princes of the blood, should also be looked down upon as inferior and
contemptible persons? The world is upside down, and therefore, the
first are last and the last first. See how the servile sons of Satan
lord it in the earth! What a high horse they ride! How they lift up
their horn on high! Haman is in the court, while Mordecai sits in the
gate; David wanders on the mountains, while Saul reigns in state;
Elijah is complaining in the cave while Jezebel is boasting in the
palace; yet who would wish to take the places of the proud rebels? and
who, on the other hand, might not envy the despised saints? When the
wheel turns, those who are lowest rise, and the highest sink. Patience,
then, believer, eternity will right the wrongs of time.

Let us not fall into the error of letting our passions and carnal
appetites ride in triumph, while our nobler powers walk in the dust.
Grace must reign as a prince, and make the members of the body
instruments of righteousness. The Holy Spirit loves order, and he
therefore sets our powers and faculties in due rank and place, giving
the highest room to those spiritual faculties which link us with the
great King; let us not disturb the divine arrangement, but ask for
grace that we may keep under our body and bring it into subjection. We
were not new created to allow our passions to rule over us, but that
we, as kings, may reign in Christ Jesus over the triple kingdom of
spirit, soul, and body, to the glory of God the Father.

EVENING:

"And he requested for himself that he might die."
-- 1 Kings 19:4

It was a remarkable thing that the man who was never to die, for whom
God had ordained an infinitely better lot, the man who should be
carried to heaven in a chariot of fire, and be translated, that he
should not see death-should thus pray, "Let me die, I am no better than
my fathers." We have here a memorable proof that God does not always
answer prayer in kind, though he always does in effect. He gave Elias
something better than that which he asked for, and thus really heard
and answered him. Strange was it that the lion-hearted Elijah should be
so depressed by Jezebel's threat as to ask to die, and blessedly kind
was it on the part of our heavenly Father that he did not take his
desponding servant at his word. There is a limit to the doctrine of the
prayer of faith. We are not to expect that God will give us everything
we choose to ask for. We know that we sometimes ask, and do not
receive, because we ask amiss. If we ask for that which is not
promised-if we run counter to the spirit which the Lord would have us
cultivate-if we ask contrary to his will, or to the decrees of his
providence-if we ask merely for the gratification of our own ease, and
without an eye to his glory, we must not expect that we shall receive.
Yet, when we ask in faith, nothing doubting, if we receive not the
precise thing asked for, we shall receive an equivalent, and more than
an equivalent, for it. As one remarks, "If the Lord does not pay in
silver, he will in gold; and if he does not pay in gold, he will in
diamonds." If he does not give you precisely what you ask for, he will
give you that which is tantamount to it, and that which you will
greatly rejoice to receive in lieu thereof. Be then, dear reader, much
in prayer, and make this evening a season of earnest intercession, but
take heed what you ask.

My Utmost For His Highest : ""Out Of The Wreck I Rise""

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

May 19, 2008

"OUT OF THE WRECK I RISE"

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

Romans 8:35

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=ro+8:35&sr=1

God does not keep a man immune from trouble; He says - "I will be
with him in trouble." It does not matter what actual troubles in the
most extreme form get hold of a man's life, not one of them can
separate him from his relationship to God. We are "more than
conquerors in all these things." Paul is not talking of imaginary
things, but of things that are desperately actual; and he says we are
super-victors in the midst of them, not by our ingenuity, or by our
courage, or by anything other than the fact that not one of them
affects our relationship to God in Jesus Christ. Rightly or wrongly,
we are where we are, exactly in the condition we are in. I am sorry
for the Christian who has not something in his circumstances he
wishes was not there.

"Shall tribulation...?" Tribulation is never a noble thing; but let
tribulation be what it may - exhausting, galling, fatiguing, it is
not able to separate us from the love of God. Never let cares or
tribulations separate you from the fact that God loves you.

"Shall anguish...?" - can God's love hold when everything says that
His love is a lie, and that there is no such thing as justice?

"Shall famine...?" - can we not only believe in the love of God but
be more than conquerors, even while we are being starved?

Either Jesus Christ is a deceiver and Paul is deluded, or some
extraordinary thing happens to a man who holds on to the love of God
when the odds are all against God's character. Logic is silenced in
the face of every one of these things. Only one thing can account for
it - the love of God in Christ Jesus. "Out of the wreck I rise" every
time.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Heaven One

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Heaven One
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 NIV

Therefore encourage each other with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:18

The comfort is that we will all be together. I have a grandfather I cant wait to see. He held me on his knee. I remember that. He rode me on his tractor. That same tractor on which he died when I was not quite 7 years old. I will see him again. Who are you waiting to see?

Let me tell you what I believe. Jesus told the thief this day you will be with me in paradise. He didnt use the term Heaven. If your loved ones have gone to Heaven, they are in a perfect place with Jesus. Heaven will not be fully complete until all the saints are there; until you and I, and all Gods children get Home.

Heaven is special because God is there. Throughout the Bible, men could not enter into the presence of God for long. When Peter, J ames and John went to the Mountain of Transfiguration, Peter wanted to stay forever. Ill build a tent, one for you, one for Moses and Elijah, Peter said. I dont know where he was planning to sleep, but he just wanted to stay.

Paul talks about being caught up into Paradise in 2 Corinthians 12, and he says it was to marvelous for words to explain... in fact, in verse 4, he says it would be unlawful for him to talk about it....too wonderful! Heaven is special because God, in His sovereignty, has chosen to make it so!

Even so, come Lord Jesus!

Praying with Paul : "Building Up Each Other"

BUILDING UP EACH OTHER

2 Corinthians 1:23-2:11

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2+Corinthians+1:23-2:11

Dear Father, giver of great joy,

I hope that in my effort to get others to live for you that I will
never lord it over their faith.

Help me work with them for their joy. Let them stand firm in
freedom in their faith.

Help my contacts with them not cause pain, but let my joy be their
joy, and let their joy be my joy! Help us to work together in a
common goal in the Lord. Help us work for each other's upbuilding
in holiness.

In the name of Jesus and in full confidence of salvation through
him I ask all these things. Amen.

Please Open His Eyes!

Jesus and his followers came to Bethsaida. Some people
brought a blind man to Jesus. They begged Jesus to touch the
man.

-- Mark 8:22 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Who do you know that faces great difficulty in his or her life and who
needs friends like the ones we find in today's verse? The test of our
Christianity is not our feelings of pity; instead, it is the action we
take to bless them. Let's get off our backsides and into the lives of
those who truly need to experience Jesus' love!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Father, help me to use my actions to show my empathy and your Son's
love to those in need. Help me show this empathy and love by my actions
and not just by my talk. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Today's Verse : Mark 5:19

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

May 19, 2008

VERSE:
Jesus did not let him [the man from whom he had cast out demons]
come with him, but said, "Go home to your family and tell them how
much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you."
-- Mark 5:19

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Mark+5:19

THOUGHT:
This man has been given back his life, ransomed from the power
of Satan and the grave. How will he use it? Simple. He will go tell
those in his family what the Lord has done for him. Isn't that what
we need to be doing with the unbelievers in our families?

PRAYER:
Father, bless me as I seek to share my faith and your salvation
with those in my family who have not yet called on Jesus as Lord
and have not yet surrendered their lives to him. Help me not to
push them farther away, but instead help them see all the ways you
have blessed my life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
