Living Christ (1)

Living Christ (1)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bible Verses ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Phil. 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ …
Gal. 2:20 I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I
who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith in
the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words of Ministry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Part 1 of 3)
In verse 21 Paul goes on to say, "For to me to live is
Christ." The little word "for" at the beginning of this verse
is important. It indicates that what is to follow is an
explanation of the preceding verse. Christ could be magnified
in Paul's body because Paul lived Christ. In order to magnify
Christ, we must live Him. Although the matter of living
Christ is of such tremendous importance, not many Christians
have paid adequate attention to it. In Paul's chained body
Christ was exalted, extolled, praised, and appreciated
because Paul lived Christ.

If we would live Christ, we must take Him as our person and
be one person with Him. He and we must be one in a practical
way. In Galatians 2:20 Paul declared, "Christ lives in me."
For Paul, this was not a mere doctrine; it was a fact. It
should also be real to us that Christ lives in us. It is sad
that some Christians do not believe that Christ actually
lives in them. Neither do they believe that we can abide in
Christ and have Him abide in us. But the Bible tells us
definitely that Christ is in us and lives in us. Furthermore,
we should abide in Him and allow Him to abide in us.

Paul could say not only that Christ lived in him, but also
that to him to live was Christ. On the one hand, Christ lived
in Paul; on the other hand, Paul lived Christ. Inwardly
Christ was Paul's life, and outwardly Christ was Paul's
living. Paul and Christ thus had one life and one living.
Christ's life was Paul's life, and Paul's living was Christ's
living. The two, Christ and Paul, lived as one. First
Corinthians 6:17 refers to such a living. In this verse Paul
says that we are one spirit with the Lord. The organic union
that has taken place between us and Christ causes us to be so
close and intimate with Him that we are even one spirit with
Him.

Today's Verse : 1 John 4:9

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

February 3, 2009

VERSE:
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and
only Son into the world that we might live through him.
-- 1 John 4:9
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+John+4:9

THOUGHT:
Showing love is about sharing life with someone else. No one
quite epitomizes this principle like Jesus! His sacrifice, however,
is what saved us and brought us to our new life in him. Now God
wants us to show his love to others by sharing it in ways that they
can understand and appreciate.

PRAYER:
Holy LORD, my heavenly Father, thank you for today. Help me
share my life with someone else who needs to experience your grace
-- not just today, but everyday. Please help me notice those who
are wounded and please give me wisdom on the best way to lead them
to you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Miss Lovett Kone.

Dearest One,

Please permit me to inform you of my desire of going into a relationship with you. This to the best of my knowledge will establish an everlasting relationship between me and your family.
I am Lovett Kone the only daughter of the late Mr. Kone John, a devoted Christian who went on helping people but later was disappointed by his close relatives and business friends.

My father was a very wealthy cocoa merchant here in Abidjan ; the economic capital city of Ivory Coast . My father was poisoned to death by his business associates on one of their outings on a business trip. My mother as well died when I was a baby. Since then, my father took me so special before his unfortunate death that made me a complete orphan today without mother, without father and without brothers or sisters. Before the death of my father on March 2005 in a private hospital here in Abidjan he secretly called me on his bed side and told me that he has the sum of ($8,500,000) which he deposited in a suspense account in one of the prime bank here in Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire that he used my name as his only daughter in depositing the money as the next of Kin/heir. He also explained to me that it was because of this money that he was poisoned by his business associates. He then advised that I should seek for a foreign partner in a country of my choice where I will transfer the fund into for investment project. I am honorably seeking your assistance in the following ways..

(1) To serve as My guardian and foreign trustee to enable the Bank transfer the money to you on my behalf for investment abroad, since I am only 18 years old, to be 19 soon.

(2) To make arrangement for me to come over to your country to further my education and to secure a resident permit in your country.

Furthermore, you indicate your options towards assisting me as I believe that this transaction would be concluded within the shortest period so that I will come over to your country. Upon your interest and anticipating assisting me, I look forward to you with the interest of helping me. I am assuring you of a hundred percent risk free in the course of transferring this fund for I have every legal document concerning the deposition of the money.

Thanks and God bless.

Sincerely,
Miss Lovett Kone.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: All Things New

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
All Things New
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:45 NIV

Good, good, good, and evil, evil, evil. Jesus was a master teacher, the greatest teacher who ever lived. He wouldn't have repeated Himself if He didn't want to make a point!

Just like a tomato produces tomato juice and an orange produces orange juice, good produces good and evil produces evil. Do I need to say it again? Good produces good, and evil produces evil!

A person who has allowed Jesus to come into his heart is a person who has chosen good over evil. God places within each of His children an inner desire to please Him and be conformed to the image of Christ. God, being perfectly Holy, cannot be pleased by evil, but only by righteousness. As we seek to live like Jesus, the good stored within us is exhibited in the work we do. Others begin to see us as the light of the world. Then, in turn, our witness leads them to seek God.

Those who have rejected God are still under the curse of the fall. They have the evil of the Evil One within them. They continue to exhibit evil. Oh, they may have the appearance of doing good works, but their hearts are still evil. Without the forgiveness of sin, God cannot accept their works as anything but evil. Their witness takes people away from knowing God.

Jesus said it best! Good comes out of a good man! Evil comes out of an evil man!

And by the way, in Heaven, the good guys win!

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Neighboring, by Phil Ware

The pictures are absolutely hilarious. They are pictures of dogs and
their owners. I think they were once part of a promotion for Cesar dog
food and the dog owners were doing their best to support the old rumor
that dog owners resemble their dogs -- or vice versa. In the case of
these images, they were spot on -- sorry, pun intended. And the
"look-alike rumor" is based on a deeper truth: we do take on the
qualities of the object of our love. Which brings me to the theme of
"neighboring."

"So just who is my neighbor?" This question was launched by an expert
on the Old Testament law to test Jesus. While it may seem innocent
enough at first glance, underneath it was the push to find out just
what is needed to qualify for eternal life (Luke 10:25). To put it
crassly, "What's my minimum requirement on being neighborly?"

Jesus addressed the question in three powerful ways, never letting the
"expert in the law" off the hook . Jesus was going to make sure this
expert had to "own" his answer. Jesus asked the man to state his
understanding of God's truth twice, rather than Jesus giving the
"expert" an answer (Luke 10:26; Luke 10:36).

First, Jesus made clear the issue is about "neighboring": intention and
emotion are important, but godly compassion always involves action (James
2:14-17; 1 John 3:16-17). Jesus made this powerfully clear by answering
the question by telling the story of "the good Samaritan" (Luke
10:30-35). The question is not, "Who is my neighbor [who I must
serve]?" Instead, the question is, "Who needs neighboring: who needs my
help and support?" And Jesus frames the story by the emphasis on "doing
compassion" by framing the story with these two phrases: (1) "Do this
and live" (Luke 10:28 TNIV), and (2) "Go and do likewise" (Luke 10:35).

Second, Jesus demonstrated what it means to "love your neighbor as
yourself." A simple scan of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John -- the books
in the Bible that tell the story of Jesus -- help us understand just
what "neighboring" means. We meet men and women, religious and
non-religious, leaders and powerless, rich and poor, able-bodied and
those who are sick, dying, and dead. Jesus simply ignored the
categories we so easily force people to fit. He broke social barriers,
gender barriers, and religious stereotypes. He did not meet someone who
was not his neighbor and he calls us to live the same way.

Third, Jesus always kept the command to "love your neighbor as
yourself" connected to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind" (Luke
10:27). We become like the One we love! We cannot love God and not love
others (1 John 4:7-21).

So what's the point of all of this? Simple: it's not about figuring out
who is our neighbor, but about neighboring those around us in need!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Make a list of all the different kinds of people Jesus served -- take a
quick scan of the gospels to remind yourself of all the different kinds
of people Jesus' life touched in a redemptive way (Matthew 8:1-38; Mark
9:1-50; Mark 3:1-64; Luke 7:1-50 are a good start).

What do you think the message is for you and how you are to "neighbor"
others based on Jesus' example?

So what's the point of all of this?

How would you describe what "neighboring" others means in your daily
life?

What leads you to keep from "neighboring" those who need our help?

What makes it hard "neighboring" others you may not know?

What makes it hard "neighboring" those you do know?

I'd love to hear from you on my blog about this:

Morning & Evening -- Hebrews 9:22 and 1 Chronicles 4:22

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday, February 2, 2009

MORNING:

"Without the shedding of blood is no remission."
-- Hebrews 9:22

This is the voice of unalterable truth. In none of the Jewish
ceremonies were sins, even typically, removed without blood- shedding.
In no case, by no means can sin be pardoned without atonement. It is
clear, then, that there is no hope for me out of Christ; for there is
no other blood-shedding which is worth a thought as an atonement for
sin. Am I, then, believing in him? Is the blood of his atonement truly
applied to my soul? All men are on a level as to their need of him. If
we be never so moral, generous, amiable, or patriotic, the rule will
not be altered to make an exception for us. Sin will yield to nothing
less potent than the blood of him whom God hath set forth as a
propitiation. What a blessing that there is the one way of pardon! Why
should we seek another?

Persons of merely formal religion cannot understand how we can rejoice
that all our sins are forgiven us for Christ's sake. Their works, and
prayers, and ceremonies, give them very poor comfort; and well may they
be uneasy, for they are neglecting the one great salvation, and
endeavouring to get remission without blood. My soul, sit down, and
behold the justice of God as bound to punish sin; see that punishment
all executed upon thy Lord Jesus, and fall down in humble joy, and kiss
the dear feet of him whose blood has made atonement for thee. It is in
vain when conscience is aroused to fly to feelings and evidences for
comfort: this is a habit which we learned in the Egypt of our legal
bondage. The only restorative for a guilty conscience is a sight of
Jesus suffering on the cross. "The blood is the life thereof," says the
Levitical law, and let us rest assured that it is the life of faith and
joy and every other holy grace.

"Oh! how sweet to view the flowing
Of my Saviour's precious blood;
With divine assurance knowing
He has made my peace with God."

EVENING:

"And these are ancient things."
-- 1 Chronicles 4:22

Yet not so ancient as those precious things which are the delight of
our souls. Let us for a moment recount them, telling them over as
misers count their gold. The sovereign choice of the Father, by which
he elected us unto eternal life, or ever the earth was, is a matter of
vast antiquity, since no date can be conceived for it by the mind of
man. We were chosen from before the foundations of the world.
Everlasting love went with the choice, for it was not a bare act of
divine will by which we were set apart, but the divine affections were
concerned. The Father loved us in and from the beginning. Here is a
theme for daily contemplation. The eternal purpose to redeem us from
our foreseen ruin, to cleanse and sanctify us, and at last to glorify
us, was of infinite antiquity, and runs side by side with immutable
love and absolute sovereignty. The covenant is always described as
being everlasting, and Jesus, the second party in it, had his goings
forth of old; he struck hands in sacred suretyship long ere the first
of the stars began to shine, and it was in him that the elect were
ordained unto eternal life. Thus in the divine purpose a most blessed
covenant union was established between the Son of God and his elect
people, which will remain as the foundation of their safety when time
shall be no more. Is it not well to be conversant with these ancient
things? Is it not shameful that they should be so much neglected and
even rejected by the bulk of professors? If they knew more of their own
sin, would they not be more ready to adore distinguishing grace? Let us
both admire and adore tonight, as we sing-

"A monument of grace,
A sinner saved by blood;
The streams of love I trace
Up to the Fountain, God;
And in his sacred bosom see
Eternal thoughts of Love to me."

My Utmost For His Highest : "The Constraint Of The Call"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

February 2, 2009

THE CONSTRAINT OF THE CALL

Woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

1 Corinthians 9:16
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1co+9:16&sr=1

Beware of stopping your ears to the call of God. Everyone who is
saved is called to testify to the fact; but that is not the call to
preach, it is merely an illustration in preaching. Paul is referring
to the pangs produced in him by the constraint to preach the Gospel.
Never apply what Paul says in this connection to souls coming in
contact with God for salvation. There is nothing easier than getting
saved because it is God's sovereign work - Come unto Me and I will
save you. Our Lord never lays down the conditions of discipleship as
the conditions of salvation. We are condemned to salvation through
the Cross of Jesus Christ. Discipleship has an option with it - "IF
any man. . . '

Paul's words have to do with being made a servant of Jesus Christ,
and our permission is never asked as to what we will do or where we
will go. God makes us broken bread and poured-out wine to please
Himself. To be "separated unto the gospel" means to hear the call of
God; and when a man begins to overhear that call, then begins agony
that is worthy of the name. Every ambition is nipped in the bud,
every desire of life quenched, every outlook completely extinguished
and blotted out, saving one thing only - "separated unto the gospel."
Woe be to the soul who tries to put his foot in any other direction
when once that call has come to him. This College exists for you, and
you - to see whether God has a man or woman here who cares about
proclaiming His Gospel; to see whether God grips you. And be ware of
competitors when God does grip you.

Praying with Paul : "Waiting for Redemption"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------

--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

WAITING FOR REDEMPTION

Romans 8:26-27
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+8:26-27

Dear Father, who knows my secrets,

Help me to wait patiently for my redemption. Thank you for giving
me your Holy Spirit to make up for the inadequacies of my body and
spirit. I know not how to pray as I should, so I praise you for
your Spirit, who takes my inexpressible groanings and lifts them to
the Lord Jesus, thus sharing in his intercession for me.

I thank you that the Holy Spirit searches out the remotest cranny
of my heart, knows me in a way that I cannot even know myself, and
expresses to you what I wish that I could say but cannot. How
wonderful! How loving!

Thank you, Lord, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Hallelujah.
Amen. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you again!

In the name of Jesus and with the support of your Spirit I come to
you, with gratitude for doing these things. Amen.

WJD! -- Following and Family -- Matthew 4:21-22

Following and Family

Jesus continued walking by Lake Galilee. He saw two other
brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a
boat with their father Zebedee. They were preparing their
nets to catch fish. Jesus told the brothers to come with him.
So the brothers left the boat and their father, and they
followed Jesus.

-- Matthew 4:21-22 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Most of the time, when a person comes to Christ, that person is more
loved and more greatly appreciated by his or her family. This is
because of the Lord's strong demand that we honor our fathers and
mothers and not use religion to neglect our responsibilities to them.
But sometimes following the Lord means we must leave behind our family,
as James and John did. Our sincere hope is that Zebedee became a
devoted follower of Jesus, too. But even if he was a believer, when his
sons left to follow Jesus, they also left behind their father and their
family business. That's giving up a great deal. But Jesus is worthy of
our sacrifices. Jesus promises that we will not give up family without
finding more family. The most important relationship we must have if we
want to bless our family is the one with Jesus as Lord. Everything else
must flow through that commitment.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O Holy Father, please help me to recognize the importance of
reverencing Jesus as my Lord and placing him above all other
relationships. By the grace, power, and authority of Jesus' name I
pray. Amen.
