=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

He Saved My Life, by Ron Rose

Preparation

The Bucket List is a dialogue-intensive movie about two dying men on a
three-month adventure, a journey that transforms a bully into a buddy.
The two old men -- pompous, arrogant, corporate billionaire Edward Cole
and pensive, philosophical, car mechanic Carter Chambers -- are almost
unbearably different. The only thing they have in common is their
terminal illnesses.

While sharing a hospital room, they begin making a list of all the
things they'd like to do before they kick the bucket ... It's their
bucket list ... what began as a topic of conversation, became a timely
to do list. When they were released to die, they took off, determined
to complete as many items on the list as time permitted.

In the end, not everything was completed, but Ed and Carter had become
best friends.

This is not one of those sentimental, heartrending relationship movies;
these guys didn't have touchy-feely moments. But, during the Bucket
List journey, both men found a missing part of their lives ... they
didn't find it in some far off land; they found it in the
treasure-trove of real unsuspicious, in-your-face, say anything,
friendship.

Near the end of the movie Cole eulogies Carter ... "I loved him. And I
miss him. Carter and I saw the world together. Which is amazing ...
When you think that only three months ago, we were complete strangers!
I hope that it doesn't sound selfish of me but ... the last months of
his life were the best months of mine. He saved my life ... And he knew
it before I did."

Just a movie ... right?

Inspiration

Lance Corporal Ryan McCurdy died in Iraq in 2006; but before he took
his fatal hit, he saved his buddy's life. Corporal Trotter and Ryan
were in charge of guarding the C-Mac complex. A large group of
insurgents came upon their group of guards and started firing at them.

Shortly after the firefight began, Trotter got shot in the neck in the
carotid artery, Trotter recalled. "I couldn't talk. I just laid there
in the street praying for my wife and unborn baby. I knew I was a
goner."

Trotter continued, "Then out of nowhere, Ryan ran out, grabbed my legs
and pulled me to safety." Within minutes Ryan took the hit that killed
him.

It has taken months and several surgeries for Corporal Trotter to fully
recover from his gunshot wound. His wife, Stephanie had their baby boy
on March 25th, 2006 and they named him, Christian Ryan.

Once stateside, Trotter called Ryan's parents to tell them how their
son saved his life. Toward the end of the call he said, "I still cry at
night thinking about how Ryan lost his life saving mine."

Do you want a buddy like that?

Ryan's Mom responded, "Our son always cared deeply for his friends.
That's the kind of thing Ryan would do for a friend without hesitation.
He knew you had a wife and baby to raise. I know he wanted you to be
able to do that, without giving his life a second thought."

Motivation

Regardless of how much we plan and protect there are times in life when
each of us needs a buddy, a close friend who will step in and save us.
Sometimes the buddy saves us from our enemies and sometimes the buddy
saves us from ourselves. But real friends save lives!

Do you have a buddy that's saved you?

Do you want a buddy like that?

Be one!

Forward this Note to your life saving friends. Tell them how it
happened.

Morning & Evening -- Hebrews 5:8 and Song of Solomon 5:6

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday, March 29, 2008

MORNING:

"Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things
which he suffered."
-- Hebrews 5:8

We are told that the Captain of our salvation was made perfect through
suffering, therefore we who are sinful, and who are far from being
perfect, must not wonder if we are called to pass through suffering
too. Shall the head be crowned with thorns, and shall the other members
of the body be rocked upon the dainty lap of ease? Must Christ pass
through seas of his own blood to win the crown, and are we to walk to
heaven dryshod in silver slippers? No, our Master's experience teaches
us that suffering is necessary, and the true-born child of God must
not, would not, escape it if he might. But there is one very comforting
thought in the fact of Christ's "being made perfect through
suffering"-it is, that he can have complete sympathy with us. "He is
not an high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities." In this sympathy of Christ we find a sustaining power.
One of the early martyrs said, "I can bear it all, for Jesus suffered,
and he suffers in me now; he sympathizes with me, and this makes me
strong." Believer, lay hold of this thought in all times of agony. Let
the thought of Jesus strengthen you as you follow in his steps. Find a
sweet support in his sympathy; and remember that, to suffer is an
honourable thing-to suffer for Christ is glory. The apostles rejoiced
that they were counted worthy to do this. Just so far as the Lord shall
give us grace to suffer for Christ, to suffer with Christ, just so far
does he honour us. The jewels of a Christian are his afflictions. The
regalia of the kings whom God hath anointed are their troubles, their
sorrows, and their griefs. Let us not, therefore, shun being honoured.
Let us not turn aside from being exalted. Griefs exalt us, and troubles
lift us up. "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him."

EVENING:

"I called him, but he gave me no answer."
-- Song of Solomon 5:6

Prayer sometimes tarrieth, like a petitioner at the gate, until the
King cometh forth to fill her bosom with the blessings which she
seeketh. The Lord, when he hath given great faith, has been known to
try it by long delayings. He has suffered his servants' voices to echo
in their ears as from a brazen sky. They have knocked at the golden
gate, but it has remained immovable, as though it were rusted upon its
hinges. Like Jeremiah, they have cried, "Thou hast covered thyself with
a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through." Thus have true
saints continued long in patient waiting without reply, not because
their prayers were not vehement, nor because they were unaccepted, but
because it so pleased him who is a Sovereign, and who gives according
to his own pleasure. If it pleases him to bid our patience exercise
itself, shall he not do as he wills with his own! Beggars must not be
choosers either as to time, place, or form. But we must be careful not
to take delays in prayer for denials: God's long-dated bills will be
punctually honoured; we must not suffer Satan to shake our confidence
in the God of truth by pointing to our unanswered prayers. Unanswered
petitions are not unheard. God keeps a file for our prayers-they are
not blown away by the wind, they are treasured in the King's archives.
This is a registry in the court of heaven wherein every prayer is
recorded. Tried believer, thy Lord hath a tear-bottle in which the
costly drops of sacred grief are put away, and a book in which thy holy
groanings are numbered. By-and-by, thy suit shall prevail. Canst thou
not be content to wait a little? Will not thy Lord's time be better
than thy time? By-and-by he will comfortably appear, to thy soul's joy,
and make thee put away the sackcloth and ashes of long waiting, and put
on the scarlet and fine linen of full fruition.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Our Lord's Surprise Visits"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

March 29, 2008

OUR LORD'S SURPRISE VISITS

Be ye therefore ready also.

Luke 12:40

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=lu+12:40&sr=1

The great need for the Christian worker is to be ready to face Jesus
Christ at any and every turn. This is not easy, no matter what our
experience is. The battle is not against sin or difficulties or
circumstances, but against being so absorbed in work that we are not
ready to face Jesus Christ at every turn. That is the one great need,
not the facing our belief, or our creed, the question whether we are
of any use, but to face Him.

Jesus rarely comes where we expect Him; He appears where we least
expect Him, and always in the most illogical connections. The only
way a worker can keep true to God is by being ready for the Lord's
surprise visits. It is not service that matters, but intense
spiritual reality, expecting Jesus Christ at every turn. This will
give our life the attitude of child-wonder which He wants it to have.
If we are going to be ready for Jesus Christ, we have to stop being
religious (that is, using religion as a higher kind of culture) and
be spiritually real.

If you are "looking off unto Jesus," avoiding the call of the
religious age you live in, and setting your heart on what He wants,
on thinking on His line - you will be called unpractical and dreamy;
but when He appears in the burden and the heat of the day, you will
be the only one who is ready. Trust no one, not even the finest saint
who ever walked this earth, ignore him, if he hinders your sight of
Jesus Christ.

Praying with Paul : "The Holy Parade"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

THE HOLY PARADE

1 Corinthians 4:8-13

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+4:8-13

Dear Father, king of the ages,

Would that your people were already filled! Would that they were
already rich! Would that they were already kings and sharing the
reign with each other! For then I would be sharing in it too.

We know all this grandeur awaits us in the kingdom that is to
come, but for now, give us the endurance to follow your apostles in
a parade that is a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men.
Many are strong, but we may have to put up with weakness. Many are
held in honor, but we may be held in disrepute. We may have to be
hungry and thirsty, ill-clad, buffeted and homeless, and we may
have to do toilsome labor with our hands.

When I am reviled, help me to bless in return. When I am
persecuted, help me endure. When I am slandered, help me be
conciliatory. To follow your apostles in this parade, I am willing
to become the refuse of the world, the offscouring of all things!

In the name of Jesus, give me a willing heart! Amen.

WJD! -- Jesus Loves Us All -- Mark 5:24

Jesus Loves Us All

So Jesus went with Jairus. Many people followed Jesus. They
were pushing very close around him.

-- Mark 5:24 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
We can easily make Jesus into a two-dimensional caricature of himself.
He loved the poor, the weak, the downtrodden, the forgotten, and the
marginalized and spoke harshly of those in power and of those who were
hypocritical in their religion. Reality, however, dictates that we
recognize that Jesus loves all people regardless of their social
standing, economic circumstances, religious identity, gender, race, or
background. Jesus came looking for those seeking God and recognizing
their need for God's work in their lives. So Jesus goes with this man
who is in many ways similar to those who will persecute, oppose, and
ultimately demand his crucifixion. Why? Because he loves the man and
because the man recognizes his need for Jesus' help. This understanding
leaves you and me with two important messages. First, Jesus loves no
matter what our background or past may be. He longs for us to admit our
need for him and ask for his help. Second, as Jesus' followers, we are
called to love all people, too!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Lord God, Sovereign over all creation and the Father of all nations,
please open my heart and my eyes to love all kinds of people like your
Son demonstrated during his earthly ministry and now does from heaven.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

March 29, 2008

VERSE:
"I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him. The bride belongs
to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and
listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's
voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete."

THOUGHT:
John the Baptist is an incredible example of a servant. He lived
his life for one central and controlling purpose -- to prepare
others to recognize, to welcome, and to follow Jesus Christ as
Lord. Can you think of a greater purpose for your life? Let's live
so that when our last days approach, we can also say, "That joy is
mine, and it is now complete."

PRAYER:
Holy and Righteous Father, please use me to prepare others to
know and to receive Jesus. In the name of my Lord, Jesus of
Nazareth, I pray. Amen.

Today's KJV Verse : John 3:28-29

March 29, 2008

VERSE:
Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ,
but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the
bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and
heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice:
this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
-- John 3:28-29

Amen.
