The Church Only Having One Class of Believers

The Church Only Having One Class of Believers

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bible Verses ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Phil. 1:1 Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus, to all
the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the
overseers and deacons.
1 Cor. 1:2 To the church of God which is in Corinth, to
those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, the called
saints, with all those who call upon the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ in every place, who is theirs and ours.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words of Ministry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Philippians 1:1, which shows that a local church is composed
of the saints [believers] with overseers to take the lead and
deacons to serve, indicates that the church in Philippi was
in good order. Paul did not say "to all the saints and the
overseers and deacons"; he said "all the saints with the
overseers and deacons." The Greek preposition rendered "with"
actually means together with. If Paul had used the
conjunction "and" instead of the preposition "with," this
would indicate that in a local church there should be three
groups of people--the saints, the overseers, and the deacons.
But his use of "with" indicates that there are not three such
groups in the church.

The concept of today's organized Christianity is to have
various distinct classes of people within the church. It is
against the Bible, however, to have different classes of
believers in a local assembly. The New Testament reveals that
in a local church there is a unique group, and this group is
composed of all the saints. Writing under the leading of the
Holy Spirit, Paul wrote in a deliberate, cautious way, using
the preposition "with" and not the conjunction "and." Paul's
use of the preposition instead of the conjunction is very
significant. It indicates that in any locality there should
be just one church, which must include all the saints in that
locality.

Today's Verse : Proverbs 16:9

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

January 10, 2009

VERSE:
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his
steps.

-- Proverbs 16:9
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Proverbs+16:9

THOUGHT:
We're now a week-and-a-half into a new year. How are you doing
with those changes and commitments you made for the new year? Don't
give up or quit on them ... even if you're having trouble staying
on track. But, let's remember that the only real commitment for
this year that is absolutely necessary to keep is that we ask the
Lord where he wants us to go and what he wants us to do; then we go
there and do it.

PRAYER:
Holy God, Almighty LORD, Abba Father, thank you for being
wondrous, holy, and mighty. Thank you for also caring about me, my
life, my decisions, and my struggles. Please guide me by your
Spirit so that I can understand your Word and discern your will for
my life. I want to have you fully direct my steps. In Jesus' name I
pray. Amen.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: New Year 5

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
New Year 5
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard. Acts 4:20 NIV

I know you won't believe me (or maybe you will), but God once paid my electric bill when I didn't have any money in my checking account (or savings account). In fact, God one month paid $2000 worth of bills when I made less than $500.

Another time, at God's urging, I gave away $100 I really couldn't afford and later that month received $1,000 I didn't expect.

Having been told I probably couldn't have children, or at least it wouldn't be easy, we conceived the very first try. We named our son Nathaniel, which means "gift of God".

I once lost all my email addresses and could no longer send out my "thoughts" each day. I was devastated. Then suddenly I was approached by ChristWeb and now those simple thoughts go to hundreds more than they ever did before.

I know you may call all this coincidence, but I can't help but share them with you, because I beli eve, no I KNOW, they were not chance events; these were specific incidents when God intervened in my life. Actually He didn't have to intervene, He is a vital part of my life every day.

God is actively involved in shaping my future; the very circumstances of life for me. He is there as my Teacher, my Protector, my Shepherd, my Counselor, my very best Friend.

If you don't have a full, active, vital relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, start today. Tell Him you love Him! Ask Him to increase your love and knowledge of who He is. Grow up into Him! Allow Him to take complete control of your life. Place yourself fully in His hands!

And guess what? You will feel compelled to tell others about His love and grace. You won't be able to help yourself!

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Revival Fire, by Mike Barres

It was Christmas morning, and I got up earlier than everyone else. I
went outside and walked around and prayed. Our Christmas outreach,
banquet and candlelight service had all gone really well, and I was
thankful. I decided to start a fire in our little fire pit. It had been
raining, so some of the wood was a bit wet. I got the fire going but
some of the new branches that I put on the fire took a while to get
burning.

I noticed something coming out of the ends of the branches that I had
broken and cut. It was like the heat of the fire was driving out the
moisture, so that they could burn well.

If the fire of God's Holy Spirit forces out the junk ...

Looking at a fire always makes me think of the "fire" of genuine
revival. When I try to light a fire with lighter fluid, I notice that
it flares up quickly but soon dies out. That's what happens to many
individuals seeking spiritual revival -- a quick flash of intense
flame, but then the fire dies out. At other times, however, I have seen
white, hot, coals fueling a pulsating fire deep in the middle of the
flame. That's what I want revival to be like in my heart -- deep, hot,
pulsating, and sustaining fire.

Many of us desire revival fire because it excites us and "fires us up"
spiritually. But, the fire in the pit that day was doing something else
as it heated up the wet wood. The fire was getting rid of things that
were hindering the branch from burning -- it was actually forcing the
moisture out of the wood. That's what more of us need: not just the
excitement of the moment, but real "revival fire" to burn within our
hearts and lead us to repent of what is wrong in our hearts and our
behaviors. If the fire of God's Holy Spirit forces out the junk, we
will burn brighter and longer with genuine revival so we can live for
Him.

Jesus came to the earth, not to momentarily excite us, but to save us
and to change us. Let's let the purifying work of His Holy Spirit do
its work of genuine revival, so that we can burn bright for Him.

[John the baptizer said] "I indeed baptize you with water unto
repentance, but He [Jesus] who is coming after me is mightier than
I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with
the Holy Spirit and fire" (Matthew 3:11 NKJV).

Morning & Evening -- Jeremiah 31:33 and Psalms 100:2

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday, January 9, 2009

MORNING:

"I will be their God."
-- Jeremiah 31:33

Christian! here is all thou canst require. To make thee happy thou
wantest something that shall satisfy thee; and is not this enough? If
thou canst pour this promise into thy cup, wilt thou not say, with
David, "My cup runneth over; I have more than heart can wish"? When
this is fulfilled, "I am thy God", art thou not possessor of all
things? Desire is insatiable as death, but he who filleth all in all
can fill it. The capacity of our wishes who can measure? but the
immeasurable wealth of God can more than overflow it. I ask thee if
thou art not complete when God is thine? Dost thou want anything but
God? Is not his all-sufficiency enough to satisfy thee if all else
should fail? But thou wantest more than quiet satisfaction; thou
desirest rapturous delight. Come, soul, here is music fit for heaven in
this thy portion, for God is the Maker of Heaven. Not all the music
blown from sweet instruments, or drawn from living strings, can yield
such melody as this sweet promise, "I will be their God." Here is a
deep sea of bliss, a shoreless ocean of delight; come, bathe thy spirit
in it; swim an age, and thou shalt find no shore; dive throughout
eternity, and thou shalt find no bottom. "I will be their God." If this
do not make thine eyes sparkle, and thy heart beat high with bliss,
then assuredly thy soul is not in a healthy state. But thou wantest
more than present delights-thou cravest something concerning which thou
mayest exercise hope; and what more canst thou hope for than the
fulfilment of this great promise, "I will be their God"? This is the
masterpiece of all the promises; its enjoyment makes a heaven below,
and will make a heaven above. Dwell in the light of thy Lord, and let
thy soul be always ravished with his love. Get out the marrow and
fatness which this portion yields thee. Live up to thy privileges, and
rejoice with unspeakable joy.

EVENING:

"Serve the Lord with gladness."
-- Psalms 100:2

Delight in divine service is a token of acceptance. Those who serve God
with a sad countenance, because they do what is unpleasant to them, are
not serving him at all; they bring the form of homage, but the life is
absent. Our God requires no slaves to grace his throne; he is the Lord
of the empire of love, and would have his servants dressed in the
livery of joy. The angels of God serve him with songs, not with groans;
a murmur or a sigh would be a mutiny in their ranks. That obedience
which is not voluntary is disobedience, for the Lord looketh at the
heart, and if he seeth that we serve him from force, and not because we
love him, he will reject our offering. Service coupled with
cheerfulness is heart-service, and therefore true. Take away joyful
willingness from the Christian, and you have removed the test of his
sincerity. If a man be driven to battle, he is no patriot; but he who
marches into the fray with flashing eye and beaming face, singing, "It
is sweet for one's country to die," proves himself to be sincere in his
patriotism. Cheerfulness is the support of our strength; in the joy of
the Lord are we strong. It acts as the remover of difficulties. It is
to our service what oil is to the wheels of a railway carriage. Without
oil the axle soon grows hot, and accidents occur; and if there be not a
holy cheerfulness to oil our wheels, our spirits will be clogged with
weariness. The man who is cheerful in his service of God, proves that
obedience is his element; he can sing,

"Make me to walk in thy commands,
'Tis a delightful road."

Reader, let us put this question-do you serve the Lord with gladness?
Let us show to the people of the world, who think our religion to be
slavery, that it is to us a delight and a joy! Let our gladness
proclaim that we serve a good Master.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Intercessory Introspection"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

January 9, 2009

INTERCESSORY INTROSPECTION

And I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be
preserved blameless.

1 Thessalonians 5:23
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1th+5:23&sr=1

"Your whole spirit. . ." The great mystical work of the Holy Spirit
is in the dim regions of our personality which we cannot get at. Read
the 139th Psalm; the Psalmist implies - "Thou art the God of the
early mornings, the God of the late at nights, the God of the
mountain peaks, and the God of the sea; but, my God, my soul has
further horizons than the early mornings, deeper darkness than the
nights of earth, higher peaks than any mountain peaks, greater depths
than any sea in nature - Thou Who art the God of all these, be my
God. I cannot reach to the heights or to the depths; there are
motives I cannot trace, dreams I cannot get at - my God, search me
out."

Do we believe that God can garrison the imagination far beyond where
we can go? "The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin" - if
that means in conscious experience only, may God have mercy on us.
The man who has been made obtuse by sin will say he is not conscious
of sin. Cleansing from sin is to the very heights and depths of our
spirit if we will keep in the light as God is in the light, and the
very Spirit that fed the life of Jesus Christ will feed the life of
our spirits. It is only when we are garrisoned by God with the
stupendous sanctity of the Holy Spirit, that spirit, soul and body
are preserved in unspotted integrity, undeserving of censure in God's
sight, until Jesus comes.

We do not allow our minds to dwell as they should on these great
massive truths of God.

Praying with Paul : "No Presumption"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

NO PRESUMPTION

Romans 2:1-7
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+2:1-7

Dear Father, holy and righteous judge,

Help me not to condemn myself by passing judgment on someone else
when I may be doing the same or similar things. How could I escape
your judgment and do this?

Help me not to presume on the riches of your kindness and
forbearance and patience. Help me understand that your kindness is
meant to lead me to repentance. Take away the hardness and
impenitence that may be in my heart. Give me a heart of flesh, not
stone.

Change my behavior and my attitudes so that none of your wrath
will be stored against me to be unleashed on the day of the
revelation of your righteous judgment.

In the name of Jesus I ask for your acceptance through my faith.
Amen.

WJD! -- God's Word in the Wrong Hands -- Matthew 2:3-6

God's Word in the Wrong Hands

King Herod heard about this new king of the Jews. Herod was
troubled about this. And all the people in Jerusalem were
worried too. Herod called a meeting of all the leading Jewish
priests and teachers of the law. Herod asked them where the
Christ would be born. They answered, "In the town of
Bethlehem in Judea. The prophet wrote about this {in the
Scriptures}: 'Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, you are
important among the rulers of Judah. Yes, a ruler will come
from you, and that ruler will lead Israel, my people.'"

    -- Matthew 2:3-6 (ERV)

    KEY THOUGHT:
While God is full of surprises, he has repeatedly given his people help
in understanding -- even anticipating, his greatest works of salvation.
The prophets had seen a new David coming to redeem and lead God's
people. Like David of old, this new David would also be a shepherd from
the town of Bethlehem. But, like so many in our time, Herod was more
interested in using this understanding of God's plan to help himself
rather than to be molded into a person of God. We must learn that God's
Word in Scripture is given to us to help us know, obey, and worship
him, not simply to collect a set of facts to use for our own personal
    advantage.

    TODAY'S PRAYER:
Dear Father, I want to know your Word so I may more perfectly obey your
will. Please help me to find your truth and live it, not just discuss
it or use it for my own selfish purposes. I pray this in the name of
    the Living Word. Amen.
