The Passover Feast in Three Stages

The Passover Feast in Three Stages
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luke 22:15 And He said to them, With desire I have desired to
eat this passover with you before I suffer, (16) For I tell you
that I shall by no means eat it until it is fulfilled in the
kingdom of God. (18) For I tell you, I shall by no means drink
from now on of the product of the vine until the kingdom of God
comes. (19) And He took a loaf and gave thanks, and He broke it
and gave it to them, saying, This is My body which is being
given for you; do this in remembrance of Me. (20) And similarly
the cup after they had dined, saying, This cup is the new
covenant established in My blood, which is being poured out for
you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God has a complete plan to redeem His people into His jubilee.
The feast of the Passover is a sign of God's full redemption,
and this full redemption is the bringing of God's chosen people
into the full enjoyment of Himself. This enjoyment is a matter
of the jubilee covered in the Gospel of Luke as the fulfillment
of the prophecy in Isaiah and the type in Leviticus 25. The
jubilee is actually the enjoyment of God through His redemption.
The feast signifying the jubilee was first the feast of the
Passover in the Old Testament and then the Lord's table in the
New Testament.

The feast of the Passover was not completely fulfilled in the
Old Testament. The Lord's table, which also is a feast, replaces
and continues the feast of the Passover. But not even this New
Testament feast has been completely fulfilled; it will be
fulfilled completely in the coming kingdom. This feast began in
Exodus 12, and it continued for more than fifteen centuries
until the night in which the Lord Jesus replaced it with His
table. Today in the church life God's people are attending this
New Testament feast. However, this feast will not be fulfilled
completely until the feast in the coming kingdom. This means
that the feast in the kingdom will be the fulfillment of both
the feast of the Passover and the feast of the Lord's table.

Seemingly there are three feasts: the feast of the Passover, the
feast of the Lord's table, and the feast in the kingdom.
Actually, these are not three feasts. On the contrary, this is
one feast in three stages. God has established one feast through
His redemption for our full enjoyment of the jubilee in three
stages, and these stages are the Old Testament stage, the New
Testament stage, and the kingdom stage.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Almost Persuaded?, by Paul Faulkner

A little girl was camping with her dad one evening and got to see a
sight city-folk rarely get to witness. As the sky got pitch black, the
stars were absolutely brilliant. The little girl looked up and said,
"Daddy, if the bottom side of heaven looks this beautiful, what must
the other side look like!"

That's the power of a little girl's imagination, but it really is true.
Christians believe in a here-after, a forever land where we don't have
to worry about dishonesty and violence and war; where there is peace
and love and joy and kindness.

Don't put it off any longer!

God doesn't want to keep anyone out; but the catch is we have to make
the decision to go there. And that decision needs to be made here and
now. Most of us think it's a good idea, but we just keep putting off
making the "big choice" until there is a better time. They remind me of
a guy the apostle Paul spoke to about Jesus. When Paul was done sharing
the story of Jesus, the king replied to Paul, "You almost persuade me
to become a Christian" (Acts 26:28 NKJV). Don't go down in history as
being someone "almost" persuaded!

Don't put it off any longer, heaven awaits!

Morning & Evening -- Haggai 1:9 and Ecclesiastes 1:7

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday, October 26, 2007

MORNING:

"Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye
brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of
hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every
man unto his own house."
-- Haggai 1:9

Churlish souls stint their contributions to the ministry and missionary
operations, and call such saving good economy; little do they dream
that they are thus impoverishing themselves. Their excuse is that they
must care for their own families, and they forget that to neglect the
house of God is the sure way to bring ruin upon their own houses. Our
God has a method in providence by which he can succeed our endeavours
beyond our expectation, or can defeat our plans to our confusion and
dismay; by a turn of his hand he can steer our vessel in a profitable
channel, or run it aground in poverty and bankruptcy. It is the
teaching of Scripture that the Lord enriches the liberal and leaves the
miserly to find out that withholding tendeth to poverty. In a very wide
sphere of observation, I have noticed that the most generous Christians
of my acquaintance have been always the most happy, and almost
invariably the most prosperous. I have seen the liberal giver rise to
wealth of which he never dreamed; and I have as often seen the mean,
ungenerous churl descend to poverty by the very parsimony by which he
thought to rise. Men trust good stewards with larger and larger sums,
and so it frequently is with the Lord; he gives by cartloads to those
who give by bushels. Where wealth is not bestowed the Lord makes the
little much by the contentment which the sanctified heart feels in a
portion of which the tithe has been dedicated to the Lord. Selfishness
looks first at home, but godliness seeks first the kingdom of God and
his righteousness, yet in the long run selfishness is loss, and
godliness is great gain. It needs faith to act towards our God with an
open hand, but surely he deserves it of us; and all that we can do is a
very poor acknowledgment of our amazing indebtedness to his goodness.

EVENING:

"All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full;
unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they
return again."
-- Ecclesiastes 1:7

Everything sublunary is on the move, time knows nothing of rest. The
solid earth is a rolling ball, and the great sun himself a star
obediently fulfilling its course around some greater luminary. Tides
move the sea, winds stir the airy ocean, friction wears the rock:
change and death rule everywhere. The sea is not a miser's storehouse
for a wealth of waters, for as by one force the waters flow into it, by
another they are lifted from it. Men are born but to die: everything is
hurry, worry, and vexation of spirit. Friend of the unchanging Jesus,
what a joy it is to reflect upon thy changeless heritage; thy sea of
bliss which will be for ever full, since God himself shall pour eternal
rivers of pleasure into it. We seek an abiding city beyond the skies,
and we shall not be disappointed. The passage before us may well teach
us gratitude. Father Ocean is a great receiver, but he is a generous
distributor. What the rivers bring him he returns to the earth in the
form of clouds and rain. That man is out of joint with the universe who
takes all but makes no return. To give to others is but sowing seed for
ourselves. He who is so good a steward as to be willing to use his
substance for his Lord, shall be entrusted with more. Friend of Jesus,
art thou rendering to him according to the benefit received? Much has
been given thee, what is thy fruit? Hast thou done all? Canst thou not
do more? To be selfish is to be wicked. Suppose the ocean gave up none
of its watery treasure, it would bring ruin upon our race. God forbid
that any of us should follow the ungenerous and destructive policy of
living unto ourselves. Jesus pleased not himself. All fulness dwells in
him, but of his fulness have all we received. O for Jesus' spirit, that
henceforth we may live not unto ourselves!

My Utmost For His Highest : "What Is A Missionary?"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2007

WHAT IS A MISSIONARY?

As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you.

John 20:21

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+20:21&sr=1

A missionary is one sent by Jesus Christ as He was sent by God. The
great dominant note is not the needs of men, but the command of
Jesus. The source of our inspiration in work for God is behind, not
before. The tendency to-day is to put the inspiration ahead, to sweep
everything in front of us and bring it all out to our conception of
success. In the New Testament the inspiration is put behind us, the
Lord Jesus. The ideal is to be true to Him, to carry out His
enterprises.

Personal attachment to the Lord Jesus and His point of view is the
one thing that must not be overlooked. In missionary enterprise the
great danger is that God's call is effaced by the needs of the people
until human sympathy absolutely overwhelms the meaning of being sent
by Jesus. The needs are so enormous, the conditions so perplexing,
that every power of mind falters and fails. We forget that the one
great reason underneath all missionary enterprise is not first the
elevation of the people, nor the education of the people, nor their
needs; but first and foremost the command of Jesus Christ - "Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations."

When looking back on the lives of men and women of God the tendency
is to say - What wonderfully astute wisdom they had! How perfectly
they understood all God wanted! The astute mind behind is the Mind of
God, not human wisdom at all. We give credit to human wisdom when we
should give credit to the Divine guidance of God through childlike
people who were foolish enough to trust God's wisdom and the
supernatural equipment of God.

Mustard Seed Thought: In Love

For He wounds, but He also binds up; He injures, but His hands also
heal. Job 5:23 NIV

God hates sin. Sin is so contrary to God's nature, that He cannot allow sin
anywhere in His presence. This is precisely why God turned His back on
Jesus when He was on the Cross. Because sin must be punished, and
because God (in the Trinity) is the only one without sin, in His
justness He must do the punishing. This next statement may sound harsh
to you, but I truly believe a loving God, because of His justness, feels
no remorse in carrying out that punishment. He does it all in love.

Just as God must do the punishing, God also gets to do the
rewarding. God gets to award salvation. He gets to mend a broken heart,
create new life, and wipe the tears from our eyes. God gets to paint
sunsets, shape the clouds and transform a caterpillar into a butterfly.
He does it all in love.

Dear friend, God is love; first and foremost. God is also just. I hope you
can see both sides to the character of God. His justice will allow sin,
and those in sin, to be cast for eternity into Hell. His love and His
grace will allow sinners, who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ, to spend an eternity with Him in Heaven. He does it all in love.

A MORE PERFECT UNION

Ephesians 4:14-16

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Ephesians+4:14-16

Dear Father, Giver of life and growth,

We bless you, Father, because what you want for each of us your
children is that we may no longer remain immature children but
become grown-up children, no longer tossed to and fro and carried
about with every wind of strange teachings, by the cunning of men
with their crafty and deceitful schemes.

Thank you, Father, rather for calling us to speak the truth in
love and to grow up in every way in him who is the head, into
Christ.

Thank you for putting Christ into us and us into Christ so that
the whole body, with each part working properly and joined and knit
together by every connection with which it is supplied, makes
bodily growth and builds itself up in love.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

WJD! -- Just One Thing! -- Luke 18:22-23

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / WHAT JESUS DID! --

Just One Thing!

When Jesus heard this, he said to the leader, "But there is
still one more thing you need to do. Sell everything you have
and give the money to the poor people. You will have a reward
in heaven. Then come and follow me!" But when the man heard
this, he was very sad. The man was very rich {and wanted to
keep his money.}

-- Luke 18:22-23 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Our one thing can be awfully huge. For the rich young man, the one
thing Jesus called him to surrender was huge. Clearly, this story
impacts us at two levels. It calls us to be generous and understand the
heart of God toward us and others. However, it also asks us to look at
our life circumstances and determine what the one thing most difficult
for us to give up for Jesus would be. Then it calls us to give it up.
So the message for you and me, dear friend, is this: that we must be
generous and we must not let anything interfere with our wholehearted
devotion to the Lord Jesus.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Dear Father in heaven, please never, ever, let anything crowd into my
heart and become a rivalry to your Son. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Today's Verse : Psalm 93:5

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2007

VERSE:
Your statutes stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless
days, O LORD.
-- Psalm 93:5

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Psalm+93:5

THOUGHT:
So many of the material things we pursue are temporary. Their
usefulness lasts only a matter of months or at most a few short
years. Even our lives, and the lives of those we love, are short.
But God's character, his defining quality ("Holy, holy, holy is the
Lord God Almighty!"), and his demands for our holiness are forever.
So as we build our lives, let's build on a secure foundation -- the
will of God and a commitment to share in his holiness.

PRAYER:
Holy God, I thank you for making me holy and forgiving my sin by
your grace. Fill me with your Spirit and bring forth the Spirit's
fruit in my life so that it reflects your grace and your character.
Give me a hunger to know your will and to seek your truth and an
ability to understand and apply it to my life. I want to build my
life with you as its center and its goal. In Jesus' precious name I
pray. Amen.
