Enjoying Our Heavenly Inheritance (1)

Enjoying Our Heavenly Inheritance (1)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1Pet 1: 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who according to His great mercy has regenerated us unto
a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, 4 Unto an inheritance, incorruptible and undefiled and
unfading, kept in the heavens for you,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Part 1 of 3)
First Peter 1:4 says, "Unto an inheritance, incorruptible and
undefiled and unfading, kept in the heavens for you." At the end
of verse 3 there is a comma, not a period. Then verse 4 begins
with "unto." This indicates that "unto an inheritance" in verse
4 is in apposition to "unto a living hope" in verse 3. This
means that the living hope is the inheritance and that the
inheritance is the living hope. A living hope, resulting from
regeneration, is our expectation of the coming blessing; an
inheritance is the fulfillment of our hope in the coming age and
in eternity.

The inheritance in verse 4 comprises the coming salvation of our
souls (see verses 5 and 9), the grace to be received at the
unveiling of the Lord (v. 13), the glory to be revealed (5:1),
the unfading crown of glory (5:4), and the eternal glory (5:10).
All these items of our eternal inheritance are related to the
divine life which we received through regeneration and which we
are experiencing and enjoying through our entire Christian life.
"This inheritance is the full possession of that which was
promised to Abraham and all believers (Gen. 12:3; Gal. 3:6), an
inheritance, as much higher than that which fell to the children
of Israel in the possession of Canaan, as the sonship of the
regenerate, who have already received the promise of the Spirit
through faith as a pledge of their inheritance, is higher than
the sonship of Israel." (Wiesinger, quoted by Alford).

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Old Houses, by Steve Ridgell

I often see them out in the country. They are often falling down. They
have sagging roofs, broken windows, and overgrown yards. Sometimes all
that is left is an old chimney, or a cracked foundation. You may have
seen them too. They are old houses -- abandoned, useless,
good-for-nothing, unoccupied old houses. But they were not always that
way. At one time they were new, freshly painted, and alive with the
hopes and dreams of their families.

I sometimes wonder what the plan was for these homes when they were
first built. Did they envision generation after generation living in
the family house? Was this house the DREAM house? How much did they
sacrifice to build it? When did the dream die? When did it cease to be
a home and when did it become abandoned? What I see now cannot be what
it was made for.

What if this scenario were reversed? What if houses could look at us?
What would they see? I believe we were created with a purpose. I
believe God made us for a reason. God has dreams and plans for each one
of us. We were created to live in relationship with him and help others
to see him more clearly. If we do not live in relationship with our
Creator, then are we like an old abandoned house? Have we failed to
fulfill our purpose in life?

There is a wonderful verse in the Bible that says we are "[C]reated in
Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to
do." Jesus came to this earth to put us back into relationship with
God. God has a plan and purpose for us here. When I commit myself to
him, I find meaning and purpose. I am doing what I was made to do.

We were created for great deeds and big dreams.

You can fulfill the purpose for which you were created. It starts by
being in a relationship with the one who "built" you. He is the one who
has a plan for your life. It will keep you alive ... both now and
forever.

Morning & Evening -- Matthew 27:14 and Isaiah 53:10

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

MORNING:

"He answered him to never a word."
-- Matthew 27:14

He had never been slow of speech when he could bless the sons of men,
but he would not say a single word for himself. "Never man spake like
this man," and never man was silent like him. Was this singular silence
the index of his perfect self- sacrifice? Did it show that he would not
utter a word to stay the slaughter of his sacred person, which he had
dedicated as an offering for us? Had he so entirely surrendered himself
that he would not interfere in his own behalf, even in the minutest
degree, but be bound and slain an unstruggling, uncomplaining victim?
Was this silence a type of the defencelessness of sin? Nothing can be
said in palliation or excuse of human guilt; and, therefore, he who
bore its whole weight stood speechless before his judge. Is not patient
silence the best reply to a gainsaying world? Calm endurance answers
some questions infinitely more conclusively than the loftiest
eloquence. The best apologists for Christianity in the early days were
its martyrs. The anvil breaks a host of hammers by quietly bearing
their blows. Did not the silent Lamb of God furnish us with a grand
example of wisdom? Where every word was occasion for new blasphemy, it
was the line of duty to afford no fuel for the flame of sin. The
ambiguous and the false, the unworthy and mean, will ere long overthrow
and confute themselves, and therefore the true can afford to be quiet,
and finds silence to be its wisdom. Evidently our Lord, by his silence,
furnished a remarkable fulfilment of prophecy. A long defence of
himself would have been contrary to Isaiah's prediction. "He is led as
a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so
he openeth not his mouth." By his quiet he conclusively proved himself
to be the true Lamb of God. As such we salute him this morning. Be with
us, Jesus, and in the silence of our heart, let us hear the voice of
thy love.

EVENING:

"He shall see his seed; he shall prolong his days, and the
pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand."
-- Isaiah 53:10

Plead for the speedy fulfilment of this promise, all ye who love the
Lord. It is easy work to pray when we are grounded and bottomed, as to
our desires, upon God's own promise. How can he that gave the word
refuse to keep it? Immutable veracity cannot demean itself by a lie,
and eternal faithfulness cannot degrade itself by neglect. God must
bless his Son, his covenant binds him to it. That which the Spirit
prompts us to ask for Jesus, is that which God decrees to give him.
Whenever you are praying for the kingdom of Christ, let your eyes
behold the dawning of the blessed day which draweth near, when the
Crucified shall receive his coronation in the place where men rejected
him. Courage, you that prayerfully work and toil for Christ with
success of the very smallest kind, it shall not be so always; better
times are before you. Your eyes cannot see the blissful future: borrow
the telescope of faith; wipe the misty breath of your doubts from the
glass; look through it and behold the coming glory. Reader, let us ask,
do you make this your constant prayer? Remember that the same Christ
who tells us to say, "Give us this day our daily bread," had first
given us this petition, "Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy
will be done in earth as it is in heaven." Let not your prayers be all
concerning your own sins, your own wants, your own imperfections, your
own trials, but let them climb the starry ladder, and get up to Christ
himself, and then, as you draw nigh to the blood-sprinkled mercy-seat,
offer this prayer continually, "Lord, extend the kingdom of thy dear
Son." Such a petition, fervently presented, will elevate the spirit of
all your devotions. Mind that you prove the sincerity of your prayer by
labouring to promote the Lord's glory.

My Utmost For His Highest : "The Glory That Excels"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 2, 2008

THE GLORY THAT EXCELS

The Lord ... hath sent me that thou mightest receive thy
sight.

Acts 9:17

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=ac+9:17&sr=1

When Paul received his sight, he received spiritually an insight into
the Person of Jesus Christ, and the whole of his subsequent life and
preaching was nothing but Jesus Christ - "I determined not to know
anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified." No
attraction was ever allowed to hold the mind and soul of Paul save
the face of Jesus Christ.

We have to learn to maintain an unimpaired state of character up to
the last notch revealed in the vision of Jesus Christ.

The abiding characteristic of a spiritual man is the interpretation
of the Lord Jesus Christ to himself, and the interpretation to others
of the purposes of God. The one concentrated passion of the life is
Jesus Christ. Whenever you meet this note in a man, you feel he is a
man after God's own heart.

Never allow anything to deflect you from insight into Jesus Christ.
It is the test of whether you are spiritual or not. To be unspiritual
means that other things have a growing fascination for you.

"Since mine eyes have looked on Jesus,
I've lost sight of all beside,
So enchained my spirit's vision,
Gazing on the Crucified."

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Heavenly Father.....

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Heavenly Father.....
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2Cor 12:9 NIV

Let me tell you some things about myself. I am weak! That's right, I don't have any strength. I can't do anything for myself. You might say I'm hopeless. I am lost as a sheep, weak as a wet noodle. My decisions are worthless. I have no sense of direction. I am easily distracted; readily confused. I couldn't find my way out of a paper sack. I would have a hard time getting water to bowl.

Yea, and guess what else? I'm proud of it! You heard correctly! I'm just tickled pink to be so empty......

empty, worthless, ignorant, lost, weak, etc., etc...... ..............without my JESUS!

You see...I can brag about having nothing, because when I am weak, then He is strong. His power is made perfect in my weakness. He really gets going when I can't (or won't) do anything for myself.

Oh sure, I know, I can do some things for myself. I have a good education, street smarts and practical experience, but when I compare my resume to His.......well, let me put it another way.....I CANNOT compare my resume to His! He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Creator, Sustainer, Designer, Planner, Orchestrator, Provider, Caretaker of EVERYTHING! I pale many times over in any attempt at comparison.

So when I recognize that He is able....so much more than I could ever imagine, it is best if I just get out of the way! When I am the weakest, He is the strongest!

I feel kind of weak today. How about you?

Heavenly Father.....we're ready now!

Praying with Paul : "Conciliation"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

CONCILIATION

1 Corinthians 6:1-11

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+6:1-11

Dear Father, eternal and just judge of all,

Help me never to shame you or your saints before the world. How
could I dare seek arbitration with a brother before a judge who
does not even know about Christ's way? If believers are someday to
judge the world, and even angels, surely we can settle matters
between ourselves. Help me, Father, to willingly suffer wrong
rather than to quarrel with members of your family before the world
and thereby invite their ridicule.

Don't permit us to be deceived, but to know that the immoral,
idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, thieves, greedy, drunkards,
revilers, and robbers will not inherit your kingdom. Yes, Father,
we were these kinds of people before we came to know your
salvation. But you washed us, sanctified us, justified us in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ and in your very own Spirit. Thank
you, loving Father, for reaching out to us, changing us, saving us!

In the name of Jesus, by whose blood we are washed clean and by
whose Spirit we are made to live, I pray. Amen.

Just Trust Me!

Jesus was still there speaking. Some men came from the house
of Jairus, the synagogue leader. The men said, "Your daughter
is dead. There is now no need to bother the teacher (Jesus)."
But Jesus did not care what the men said. Jesus said to the
synagogue leader, "Don't be afraid; only believe."

-- Mark 5:35-36 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
When all seems lost, Jesus says, "Just trust me." In the darkest night,
Jesus says, "Just trust me." While most of us know these words and find
them easy to believe in church services when things are going well,
they are often much tougher to believe when we find circumstances
similar to what Jairus was facing. Fear paralyzes us! Fear controls our
thoughts! Fear steals away our faith! So Jesus says, "Don't be afraid.
Just trust me!" May God give us the strength to do just that when we
face fearful times.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O God, my Abba Father, please help me to trust Jesus and not listen to
my fear. I especially need this gracious gift from you when I am
struggling with the possible illness and death of a loved one. Come
near and fill me, O Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Today's Verse : Ephesians 4:2-3

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 2, 2008

VERSE:
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one
another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace.
-- Ephesians 4:2-3

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Ephesians+4:2-3

THOUGHT:
Effort, sweat, and dedication seem to have become the profanity
of western Christianity. To our age of grace-abusers, the Holy
Spirit reaches out with his truth and reminds us that relationships
on earth, even those in Jesus' Church, are going to require a lot
of effort, gritty love, personal sacrifice, and rigorous
determination. If we read Jesus' prayer for unity in John 17, how
could we not make every effort to keep his Body unified and our
relationship with his people loving and patient? Since our
salvation was purchased at the cost of Jesus' sweat and blood, how
can we balk when our best efforts are required to preserve the
unity of his family?

PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, forgive my impatience with others and lack
of forgiveness for them. Stir your Spirit within me to curb my
tongue, soften my heart, and extend more of an effort to others who
need your blessing. Please use me to be a peacemaker in your
Kingdom, O Lord. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
