Mustard Seed Thoughts: Love Beyond Measure

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Love Beyond Measure
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 NIV

Unconditional love! Have you ever experienced this awesome feeling? Until recently I really never realized how many people struggle with understanding the concept of unconditional love.

I feel so blessed to have grown up under this kind of love. My mother loves her children no matter what. I honestly believe there is nothing I could do in which she would not find a way to support me. She may not always agree with me, and she may be quick to point that out, but I have always known that I have one person in my corner.

My mother surrounded her children with unconditional love. I know many times I disappointed my mother growing up, as all kids do (and I still do today at times). Disappointment never caused disapproval of me as a person. I am my mother's son, period! I am welcomed always, supported con tinuously, and reaffirmed often.

I hope you had that experience, because it will go a long way toward understanding the deep love of our wonderful God. The truth is, however, that no matter what our experience is, we cannot fathom the depth of God's love for His children (Ephesians 3:19). God's love is deeper than our level of comprehension. He loves you and me, not because of who we are, but because of who HE is! He is God! He is the Creator, Sustainer and Protector of the Universe. He made you and me in His image so that He could love us and we could love Him. He doesn't just give us love; He is love.

I usually say if you are a child of God, but in this instance I am safe to say that whether or not you are a child of God, God loves you unconditionally. You didn't earn it; you don't deserve it; you couldn't buy it; and you can't sell it. His love is yours whether you accept it or not. You cannot stop His love based on your behavior. (That being said, His love alone will not forgive your sins, that's why, because He loves you so much, He was willing to send His Son to die for you. By your faith in Jesus your sins are forgiven.)

I don't mean to oversimplify this, but I need to make sure I am clear on this one topic: God loves you, and He always will!

Thank you, Mom, for loving me unconditionally. You must have learned it from our Heavenly Father!

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Love Path 911: Can We Have a Good Marriage?, by Joe Beam

Special Note:

Each week, Joe Beam is answering questions submitted by Heartlight.org
subscribers based on his counseling experience, academic research, and
heart for people as a minister. You can submit your questions to
ask@joebeam.com.

Question:

After all the pain we've been through with our "mess," can we actually
have a good marriage? -- from Broken in Austin

Answer:

The short answer is yes, no matter what has happened in the past, a
relationship can have a great future.

Perhaps the best way to illustrate this is to compare the love between
spouses with the love between our Lord and his bride, the church. If
any groom has been repeatedly and severely hurt by his bride, it is the
Lord. Think of all the pain she has caused him over the centuries --
unfaithfulness, hard-heartedness, hypocrisy, and worse. Yet, we know
from a plethora of scriptures that he forgives, reconciles, and pours
blessings on his wayward bride when she repents and turns to him. He
keeps no record of her wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5). He endures (1
Corinthians 13:7). Though the church betrayed him, he gave himself to
remove her guilt so that he could view her as blameless (Ephesians
5:25-27). The Lord puts her sin as far away from her as the east is
from the west (Psalm 103:12) and chooses not to bring them up again,
either to her or to himself (Hebrews 8:12).

No matter what has happened in the past!

That is the way to make a relationship good. Repentance. Forgiveness.
Moving on toward the future without hanging on to past hurt and harm.

If you think that Jesus is the only one who could be so gracious and
that human beings cannot do what he did, think again. In my experience
with thousands of couples, I've witnessed remarkable mercy and grace
that has led to nearly unfathomable reconciliation. Name it and likely
I've seen at least one couple deal with it, overcome, and make a great
marriage. Abuse, addictions, adultery, arguments, abandonment -- to
save space, you just fill out the alphabet with anything you've faced
in your relationship. For example, one wife forgave her husband (with a
bit of help, you understand), for a dozen affairs over the life of
their marriage. They now serve in a leadership position in their
church. Another example, a husband forgave his wife as she left her
lover to save her marriage -- even though she still loved the paramour
when she decided to do right and return home. They are now deeply in
love and have a wonderful marriage.

Through penitence, forgiveness, and reconciliation, anything can be
overcome. With time broken and mangled marriages can be wonderful and
fulfilling. It is the miracle of grace.

Yes, no matter what has happened in the past, your relationship can
have a great future.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have a question about love and relationships, send them to me at
ask@JoeBeam.com. I'll answer 1 or 2 questions each week, using my
counselor's experience, academic research, and a deep respect for God's
Word.

And if your marriage is in trouble, we can help. Go to
http://www.JoeBeam.com. Our success rate, even if one partner comes
reluctantly, is three out of four marriages.

Morning & Evening -- Romans 4:20 and Ruth 2:14

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday, March 19, 2009

MORNING:

"Strong in faith."
-- Romans 4:20

Christian, take good care of thy faith; for recollect faith is the only
way whereby thou canst obtain blessings. If we want blessings from God,
nothing can fetch them down but faith. Prayer cannot draw down answers
from God's throne except it be the earnest prayer of the man who
believes. Faith is the angelic messenger between the soul and the Lord
Jesus in glory. Let that angel be withdrawn, we can neither send up
prayer, nor receive the answers. Faith is the telegraphic wire which
links earth and heaven-on which God's messages of love fly so fast,
that before we call he answers, and while we are yet speaking he hears
us.

But if that telegraphic wire of faith be snapped, how can we receive
the promise? Am I in trouble?-I can obtain help for trouble by faith.
Am I beaten about by the enemy?-my soul on her dear Refuge leans by
faith. But take faith away-in vain I call to God. There is no road
betwixt my soul and heaven. In the deepest wintertime faith is a road
on which the horses of prayer may travel-aye, and all the better for
the biting frost; but blockade the road, and how can we communicate
with the Great King?

Faith links me with divinity. Faith clothes me with the power of God.
Faith engages on my side the omnipotence of Jehovah. Faith ensures
every attribute of God in my defence. It helps me to defy the hosts of
hell. It makes me march triumphant over the necks of my enemies. But
without faith how can I receive anything of the Lord? Let not him that
wavereth-who is like a wave of the Sea-expect that he will receive
anything of God!

O, then, Christian, watch well thy faith; for with it thou canst win
all things, however poor thou art, but without it thou canst obtain
nothing. "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that
believeth."

EVENING:

"And she did eat, and was sufficed, and left."
-- Ruth 2:14

Whenever we are privileged to eat of the bread which Jesus gives, we
are, like Ruth, satisfied with the full and sweet repast. When Jesus is
the host no guest goes empty from the table. Our head is satisfied with
the precious truth which Christ reveals; our heart is content with
Jesus, as the altogether lovely object of affection; our hope is
satisfied, for whom have we in heaven but Jesus? and our desire is
satiated, for what can we wish for more than "to know Christ and to be
found in him?" Jesus fills our conscience till it is at perfect peace;
our judgment with persuasion of the certainty of his teachings; our
memory with recollections of what he has done, and our imagination with
the prospects of what he is yet to do. As Ruth was "sufficed, and
left," so is it with us. We have had deep draughts; we have thought
that we could take in all of Christ; but when we have done our best we
have had to leave a vast remainder. We have sat at the table of the
Lord's love, and said, "Nothing but the infinite can ever satisfy me; I
am such a great sinner that I must have infinite merit to wash my sin
away;" but we have had our sin removed, and found that there was merit
to spare; we have had our hunger relieved at the feast of sacred love,
and found that there was a redundance of spiritual meat remaining.
There are certain sweet things in the Word of God which we have not
enjoyed yet, and which we are obliged to leave for awhile; for we are
like the disciples to whom Jesus said, "I have yet many things to say
unto you, but ye cannot bear them now." Yes, there are graces to which
we have not attained; places of fellowship nearer to Christ which we
have not reached; and heights of communion which our feet have not
climbed. At every banquet of love there are many baskets of fragments
left. Let us magnify the liberality of our glorious Boaz.

My Utmost For His Highest : "The Way Of Abraham In Faith"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

March 19, 2009

THE WAY OF ABRAHAM IN FAITH

He went out, not knowing whither he went."

Hebrews 11:8
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=heb+11:8&sr=1

In the Old Testament, personal relationship with God showed itself in
separation, and this is symbolized in the life of Abraham by his
separation from his country and from his kith and kin. To day the
separation is more of a mental and moral separation from the way that
those who are dearest to us look at things, that is, if they have not
a personal relationship with God. Jesus Christ emphasized this (see
Luke 14:26).

Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the
One Who is leading. It is a life of Faith, not of intellect and
reason, but a life of knowing Who makes us "go." The root of faith is
the knowledge of a Person, and one of the biggest snares is the idea
that God is sure to lead us to success.

The final stage in the life of faith is attainment of character.
There are many passing transfigurations of character; when we pray we
feel the blessing of God enwrapping us and for the time being we are
changed, then we get back to the ordinary days and ways and the glory
vanishes. The life of faith is not a life of mounting up with wings,
but a life of walking and not fainting. It is not a question of
sanctification; but of something infinitely further on than
sanctification, of faith that has been tried and proved and has stood
the test. Abraham is not a type of sanctification, but a type of the
life of faith, a tried faith built on a real God. "Abraham believed
God."

SPIRITUAL WISDOM

1 Corinthians 2:13

Dear Father, giver of your wisdom,

You have graciously imparted your wisdom to us. Thank you. You
taught us not by words but by your Spirit, who interprets spiritual
truths for those of us who believe.

Only to those who live out your wisdom of the cross, who know the
sweetness of true dedication to you, do you give understanding.

Thank you for being our God, for giving us Jesus, for granting
your Spirit to us, and for making us understand your purpose for
our lives!

In the name of Jesus I give you thanks for the supernatural wisdom
you have bestowed on us by reason of our faith. Amen.

This First!

"Don't worry and say, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we
drink?' or 'What will we wear?' All the people that don't
know God try to get these things. Don't worry, because your
Father in heaven knows that you need these things. The thing
you should want most is God's kingdom and doing the good
things God wants you to do. Then all these other things you
need will be given to you."

-- Matthew 6:31-33 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
What's most important to you? Why is it important? Jesus emphasizes all
throughout his ministry that three things are of supreme importance:
loving God with all our heart, loving our neighbor, and seeking after
God's Kingdom. If we do those things, everything else will fall into
place; the hand of the Creator will be there helping each thing find
its proper place. He knows what we need. He has a plan for our lives.
He will meet our needs. Does this mean things will be easy or always go
well for us? No. If our hero was crucified on a cross, do you think
we're less vulnerable? But God does assure his Kingdom seekers that we
will ultimately get what we seek; we will share with the King in his
Kingdom in all of his glory. In addition, in seeking after Kingdom
values, we will bless those we love, we will have a redemptive
influence on those around us, and we will have all that we really need
in life.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O gracious Father, help me keep my eyes focused on your Kingdom, my
heart centered on you, my mind illuminated by your Word, and my spirit
empowered and cleansed by your Spirit. Father, please forgive me when I
am distracted by things that don't really matter. Use your Word, your
Spirit, and your people to help call me back to a proper set of
priorities. Please bless me as I make your Kingdom and your
righteousness my consuming passion. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Today's Verse : Proverbs 10:21

VERSE:
The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack
of judgment.
-- Proverbs 10:21
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Proverbs+10:21

THOUGHT:
Righteous people have a way of blessing others with their words.
It may be their word of encouragement, their carefully chosen
speech, their advice full of wisdom, their message of comfort,
their truth in teaching, or their faithfulness to their promises.
No matter what form, the words of righteous people are a blessing.
But fools don't listen to the righteous. They plot their own course
refusing truth, wisdom, and godliness only to find their lives lost
to meaninglessness and folly.

PRAYER:
Father God, Author of all truth and wisdom, please give me the
ability to discern those around me who are truly righteous and the
wisdom to listen to what they say. Please help me avoid the
pitfalls of pride and arrogance as I humbly seek to hear your truth
in those whose lives are conformed to your character. In Jesus'
name I pray. Amen.
