=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Included!, by Phil Ware

I don't belong. I wasn't included by birthright. I have no racial claim
to be a part. I was on the outside, lost and alone, a foreigner without
hope (Ephesians 2:11-13).

I didn't even know the language of my original family, so others
carefully translated all of our family documents so I could know the
good news that I was chosen. I am included only because I was grafted
into the family tree, made a part only because of my older brother's
sacrifices and my Father's mercy (Titus 3:3-7).

I have this family only because I was adopted by the kindness of my
Father when I truly believed the good story about His love shown to me
through His Son and was adopted into the family (Galatians 3:26-29).
But now, I am a royal child of the King, with the special charge of
sharing my good story with others so they can know they belong (1 Peter
2:9-10).

Why do I share my confession about being on the outside, without God's
grace, with you? Because in all likelihood, it is your story, too! You
see this is the truth we so often forget: that we were all on the
outside without the grace of adoption, without the Scriptures in our
own language, and someone to share the story with us in a way we can
understand. This was powerfully demonstrated in a negative way
recently.

A person who was reading Heartlight.org left a response for us when
they learned that we also have a website in Spanish. (Actually, we have
3 sites in Portuguese, 1 in Spanish, and sites in German, Russian, and
Dutch currently under development. Our sites reach hundreds of
thousands of people each month in more than 175 countries. And we
provide this all free because of the kind support of our friends.) This
person was infuriated that we would offer our services in anything but
English. This is what this person said:

I just noticed that you now have the sites in Spanish. Why are we
doing this? This is the United States of America and we speak
English. People are welcome here, but they need to learn our
language instead of us giving in to them and providing Spanish. My
ancestors had to learn the language before they left Ellis Island.
We can't bend every time something like this comes up. We are not
helping the problem when we provide these kinds of things.

This response saddened me. These words, however, jarred me out of my
own attitude of entitlement toward the grace of God and reminded me of
these basic truths:

* I am a Gentile and was not part of God's covenant with Abraham by
race or birthright. (Ephesians 2:11-12; 1 Peter 2:10)

Let's never forget!

* I was lost even if I was a part of Abraham's family by race,
because my sin had separated me from God and I was without Jesus'
gift of grace. (Romans 5:6-11)

* I am included, adopted, and grafted in because of my faith and the
adoption service of my baptism, brought into God's family through
the work of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 11:17-24; Titus 3:3-7; John
3:3-7; Galatians 3:26-29)

* I would not have known the good news of God's salvation if someone
hadn't taken seriously Jesus' "Great Commission" to reach all
nations. (Matthew 28:18-20)

* My future joy in the presence of God and in praise to Jesus with
others from every nation, people, tribe, and language is the result
of Jesus' dream coming true. (Revelation 7:9-12)

* I would not have known any of this good news if someone hadn't
translated the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek of the Bible into my own
language.

So let's never forget ... let's never get so caught up in the politics
of race or language ... let's never get so worried about
self-preservation that we forget that all "those people" -- the
foreigners and the folks who speak a different language and who have a
different culture and a different shade of skin tone -- are really us.
Without grace from God and the kindness of someone different than we
are to share this grace with us, we would be lost, left out, and alien
to all God has done for us in Jesus. How can we not share this with
every person ... of every shade and language and culture and national
origin?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So what do you think of today's article?

How would you have reacted to the message left by the person who was
angry we were providing parallel resources in Spanish?

Do you ever think about being an outsider to God's promises unless the
Father had extended grace to us?

Are you a child of Abraham by physical descent? How do you feel about
Gentile Christians?

I'd love to hear from you on my blog:

Morning & Evening -- 2 Corinthians 6:16 and Proverbs 16:20

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday, May 5, 2008

MORNING:

"I will be their God, and they shall be my people."
-- 2 Corinthians 6:16

What a sweet title: "My people!" What a cheering revelation: "Their
God!" How much of meaning is couched in those two words, "My people!"
Here is speciality. The whole world is God's; the heaven, even the
heaven of heavens is the Lord's, and he reigneth among the children of
men; but of those whom he hath chosen, whom he hath purchased to
himself, he saith what he saith not of others-"My people." In this word
there is the idea of proprietorship. In a special manner the "Lord's
portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance." All the
nations upon earth are his; the whole world is in his power; yet are
his people, his chosen, more especially his possession; for he has done
more for them than others; he has bought them with his blood; he has
brought them nigh to himself; he has set his great heart upon them; he
has loved them with an everlasting love, a love which many waters
cannot quench, and which the revolutions of time shall never suffice in
the least degree to diminish. Dear friends, can you, by faith, see
yourselves in that number? Can you look up to heaven and say, "My Lord
and my God: mine by that sweet relationship which entitles me to call
thee Father; mine by that hallowed fellowship which I delight to hold
with thee when thou art pleased to manifest thyself unto me as thou
dost not unto the world?" Canst thou read the Book of Inspiration, and
find there the indentures of thy salvation? Canst thou read thy title
writ in precious blood? Canst thou, by humble faith, lay hold of Jesus'
garments, and say, "My Christ"? If thou canst, then God saith of thee,
and of others like thee, "My people;" for, if God be your God, and
Christ your Christ, the Lord has a special, peculiar favour to you; you
are the object of his choice, accepted in his beloved Son.

EVENING:

"He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso
trusteth in the Lord, happy is he."
-- Proverbs 16:20

Wisdom is man's true strength; and, under its guidance, he best
accomplishes the ends of his being. Wisely handling the matter of life
gives to man the richest enjoyment, and presents the noblest occupation
for his powers; hence by it he finds good in the fullest sense. Without
wisdom, man is as the wild ass's colt, running hither and thither,
wasting strength which might be profitably employed. Wisdom is the
compass by which man is to steer across the trackless waste of life;
without it he is a derelict vessel, the sport of winds and waves. A man
must be prudent in such a world as this, or he will find no good, but
be betrayed into unnumbered ills. The pilgrim will sorely wound his
feet among the briers of the wood of life if he do not pick his steps
with the utmost caution. He who is in a wilderness infested with robber
bands must handle matters wisely if he would journey safely. If,
trained by the Great Teacher, we follow where he leads, we shall find
good, even while in this dark abode; there are celestial fruits to be
gathered this side of Eden's bowers, and songs of paradise to be sung
amid the groves of earth. But where shall this wisdom be found? Many
have dreamed of it, but have not possessed it. Where shall we learn it?
Let us listen to the voice of the Lord, for he hath declared the
secret; he hath revealed to the sons of men wherein true wisdom lieth,
and we have it in the text, "Whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he."
The true way to handle a matter wisely is to trust in the Lord. This is
the sure clue to the most intricate labyrinths of life, follow it and
find eternal bliss. He who trusts in the Lord has a diploma for wisdom
granted by inspiration: happy is he now, and happier shall he be above.
Lord, in this sweet eventide walk with me in the garden, and teach me
the wisdom of faith.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Judgment On The Abyss Of Love"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

May 5, 2008

JUDGMENT ON THE ABYSS OF LOVE

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the
house of God.

1 Peter 4:17

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1pe+4:17&sr=1

The Christian worker must never forget that salvation is God's
thought, not man's; therefore it is an unfathomable abyss. Salvation
is the great thought of God, not an experience. Experience is only a
gateway by which salvation comes into our conscious life. Never
preach the experience; preach the great thought of God behind. When
we preach we are not proclaiming how man can be saved from hell and
be made moral and pure; we are conveying good news about God.

In the teachings of Jesus Christ the element of judgment is always
brought out, it is the sign of God's love. Never sympathize with a
soul who finds it difficult to get to God, God is not to blame. It is
not for us to find out the reason why it is difficult, but so to
present the truth of God that the Spirit of God will show what is
wrong. The great sterling test in preaching is that it brings
everyone to judgment. The Spirit of God locates each one to himself.

If Jesus ever gave us a command He could not enable us to fulfil, He
would be a liar; and if we make our inability a barrier to obedience,
it means we are telling God there is something He has not taken into
account. Every element of self-reliance must be slain by the power of
God. Complete weakness and dependence will always be the occasion for
the Spirit of God to manifest His power.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Build Your Faith

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Build Your Faith
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
Therefore, let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity...Hebrews 6:1 NIV

Are you ready to grow in Christ?

I personally think Paul was the writer of the Bible book Hebrews. When he writes here that we should leave the elementary teachings about Christ, he is not saying there is anything wrong with elementary truths. Absolutely not! After all, it is the beginning knowledge upon which all other truth is based. When one goes to kindergarten or first grade they learn some basic facts that will be used to grow in knowledge for many years to come.

The elementary truths, such as faith in God, repentence from sins, baptism are all essential truths. Without faith in God there is no Creation, and without repentence of sin there is no salvation. No, what Paul was saying was that we need to set our goals beyond these important truths. We certainly don't want our children to never learn beyond elementary school, do we?

Paul, if we assume he wrote Hebrews, was encouraging us to grow deeper in our knowledge of God. He was stating his goal in life, which was "to know Christ" (Philippians 3:10). He was encouraging us to yearn for a fuller passion to know the Living God.

Is that your goal? Is your desire to allow God to build your faith; strengthen your Biblical wisdom; spread your wings to be able to soar to ever greater heights in your relationship to Him? Why not tell express that to God today!

Let us leave the elementary truths. Let us plant ourselves deep within the perfect will of God and experience God like we never have before!

LIFE THROUGH CHRIST

1 Corinthians 15:21-23

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+15:21-23

Dear Father, worthy God,

You have declared that just as death came through the sin of one
man, so life comes through one man's resurrection from the dead. As
in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But
each in his own order: Christ first, then at his coming we who
belong to him.

Thank you, Father, for the assurance you gave by raising him up.
Thank you that his resurrection is our resurrection! Thank you for
this revelation of the order in which it will come.

In the name of Jesus I offer you this thanksgiving and praise for
the most wonderful events of history, Christ's resurrection and
ours. Amen.

WJD! -- The Demon Was Gone -- Mark 7:29-30

The Demon Was Gone

Then Jesus told the woman, "That is a very good answer. You
may go. The demon has left your daughter." The woman went
home and found her daughter lying on the bed. The demon was
gone.

-- Mark 7:29-30 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
The woman's answer was good -- not just because it was clever, but also
because she showed her humble faith. She received the goal of her
heart: her daughter was delivered from the power of the evil spirit.
Let's remember that nothing, absolutely NOTHING, is more important than
deliverance from evil. Let's not let anything take our hearts off that
goal in our lives. We must want deliverance from evil and its power in
every form. This kind of deliverance can only come from Jesus. Finally,
we must use this deliverance as an opportunity to be used in the work
of God.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Father, dear Abba the Almighty, please remove my sin from me. Help me
see any stumbling block that I might be placing in my own path or in
the paths of those I love. Use me to bring others to your grace and
holiness so they can find deliverance from evil in any form of its
power. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Today's Verse : Romans 5:5

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

May 5, 2008

VERSE:
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his
love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
-- Romans 5:5

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+5:5

THOUGHT:
The source of our hope is not just in Jesus' prior work on the
Cross and in the empty tomb. It isn't dependent just on our own
will-power and commitment to hang on to hope. No, God made sure the
fire of hope could never run out of fuel in our hearts. He did this
by filling us with his Holy Spirit and pouring his love into our
hearts. That same Spirit will help raise us up and give us life
when Jesus returns (cf. Romans 8:11).

PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much for the gift of your
Holy Spirit who keeps my hope alive and fills me with a sense of
your loving presence. May my life today, and everyday, display my
confidence in your love by sharing your kindness with others. In
Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
