VERSE:
To the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ!
Amen.
-- Romans 16:27

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+16:27

THOUGHT:
All other gods are false, anemic, and dim. Only El Shaddai (the
Lord God Almighty) who revealed himself as Yahweh (I Am, the God of
the Covenant), deserves our praise. We praise him for his gift of
Jesus to atone for our sins, his gift of mercy to perfect our
failings, his gift of patience to help us straighten out our
inconsistencies, and ultimately, his gift of love to provide our
salvation.

PRAYER:
Only True and Living God, may your glory shine forever in the
lives and faithfulness of your people. May your praises always be
on my lips and in my heart. May people see your love for them in
Christ Jesus, both now, and forevermore and use my life to
influence others to bring you praise. In the name of Jesus I praise
and proclaim your glorious majesty. Amen.

Mustard Seed Thought: One Glimpse 3

We ourselves heard this voice that came from Heaven when we were with Him on the sacred mountain. 2 Peter 1:18 NIV

I love a good testimony. It gives me encouragement when I hear of God's goodness to others. The real proof, however, is when the testimony I hear is about me.

Peter is not sharing with you someone else's story of hearing God praise Jesus on the mountain. He heard it himself. He saw the radiance of the glory of God. No one had to tell him about it. God was real to him, because he witnessed Him personally!

Can I be real personal with you? I'm not a prophet. I am not a great theologian. I am not even a great writer or teacher. People consistently correct my punctuation or grammar. (I ain't sure why!) What I do have is a testimony! I can't share with you what God has done for others, as much as I can share with you what God has done for me!

I was lost, without hope, and then Jesus came into my life. I remember a revival service, 33 years ago. When the preacher gave the invitation I got up from my pew and headed down the aisle. Although I was only a few rows from the front, it seemed like a mile. I grabbed a hold of a pastor and said "I want to be saved." Since that day I have had many struggles, but God has delivered me from each one. I have found that He is a "Friend who sticks closer than a brother". I can't imagine my life without Him in it! I am looking forward to an eternity in Heaven with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

I may not have all the answers to your questions, but I have a testimony, and that's good enough for me!

Does God indeed need to rest? Of course not! But did God choose
to rest? Yes. Why? Because God subjected creation to a rhythm of
rest and work that He revealed by observing the rhythm Himself,
as a precedent for everyone else. In this way, He showed us a
key to order in our private worlds.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

A Day of Thanksgiving!, by Skye Noe

As the holiday season approaches I get excited! The thrill of families
coming together, enjoying great food, cooler weather, long held
traditions, and, of course, great food, is the recipe for my perfect
time of year. There are so many traditions and rituals taking place
during the holidays it can be difficult to tell one year from the next.
The same family members eat the same meals, discussing the same issues,
around the same table. Only when something changes or a new tradition
is born does the year stick out clear in my memory. A year I will never
forget was not long ago when a new tradition was started. On
Thanksgiving Day as all the family gathered around the dinner table, it
was suggested that we each share the things we are thankful for. I had
seen other families practice similar traditions, but this was the first
time I was asked to share my list of blessings aloud.

As I went to work compiling my list of things to be thankful for, I
started to feel a little embarrassed. How is it that all the
Thanksgiving Day's of my past had come and I had forgotten to actually
give thanks? Then I realized just how long of a list I was going to
have! A scripture came to mind …

Call out with joy to the Lord, all the earth. Be glad as you serve
the Lord. Come before Him with songs of joy. Know that the Lord is
God. It is He who made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people
and the sheep of His field. Go into His gates giving thanks and
into His holy place with praise. Give thanks to Him. Honor His
name. For the Lord is good. His loving-kindness lasts forever. And
He is faithful to all people and to all their children-to-come (Psalm
100).

I'll never forget the feelings of thankfulness I felt on that day. A
great tradition had been born.

What better time to remember our blessings than on a holiday that was
meant for giving thanks.

It can be difficult at times for us to see God's blessings; the
holidays are not always full of good memories. People are forced to
deal with tragedies and struggles even on holidays. In difficult times
it's important to remember that "the Lord is God ... We are His people
and the sheep of his field." We can be assured of God's love for us and
find comfort in his blessing. In hard times or times of blessing, we
are never without thankfulness. We all need an occasional reminder to
stop and thank God for his goodness. What better time to remember our
blessings than on a holiday that was meant for giving thanks.

Morning & Evening -- Ephesians 4:30 and John 12:2

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

MORNING:

"Grieve not the Holy Spirit."
-- Ephesians 4:30

All that the believer has must come from Christ, but it comes solely
through the channel of the Spirit of grace. Moreover, as all blessings
thus flow to you through the Holy Spirit, so also no good thing can
come out of you in holy thought, devout worship, or gracious act, apart
from the sanctifying operation of the same Spirit. Even if the good
seed be sown in you, yet it lies dormant except he worketh in you to
will and to do of his own good pleasure. Do you desire to speak for
Jesus-how can you unless the Holy Ghost touch your tongue? Do you
desire to pray? Alas! what dull work it is unless the Spirit maketh
intercession for you! Do you desire to subdue sin? Would you be holy?
Would you imitate your Master? Do you desire to rise to superlative
heights of spirituality? Are you wanting to be made like the angels of
God, full of zeal and ardour for the Master's cause? You cannot without
the Spirit-"Without me ye can do nothing." O branch of the vine, thou
canst have no fruit without the sap! O child of God, thou hast no life
within thee apart from the life which God gives thee through his
Spirit! Then let us not grieve him or provoke him to anger by our sin.
Let us not quench him in one of his faintest motions in our soul; let
us foster every suggestion, and be ready to obey every prompting. If
the Holy Spirit be indeed so mighty, let us attempt nothing without
him; let us begin no project, and carry on no enterprise, and conclude
no transaction, without imploring his blessing. Let us do him the due
homage of feeling our entire weakness apart from him, and then
depending alone upon him, having this for our prayer, "Open thou my
heart and my whole being to thine incoming, and uphold me with thy free
Spirit when I shall have received that Spirit in my inward parts."

EVENING:

"Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him."
-- John 12:2

He is to be envied. It was well to be Martha and serve, but better to
be Lazarus and commune. There are times for each purpose, and each is
comely in its season, but none of the trees of the garden yield such
clusters as the vine of fellowship. To sit with Jesus, to hear his
words, to mark his acts, and receive his smiles, was such a favour as
must have made Lazarus as happy as the angels. When it has been our
happy lot to feast with our Beloved in his banqueting-hall, we would
not have given half a sigh for all the kingdoms of the world, if so
much breath could have bought them.

He is to be imitated. It would have been a strange thing if Lazarus had
not been at the table where Jesus was, for he had been dead, and Jesus
had raised him. For the risen one to be absent when the Lord who gave
him life was at his house, would have been ungrateful indeed. We too
were once dead, yea, and like Lazarus stinking in the grave of sin;
Jesus raised us, and by his life we live-can we be content to live at a
distance from him? Do we omit to remember him at his table, where he
deigns to feast with his brethren? Oh, this is cruel! It behoves us to
repent, and do as he has bidden us, for his least wish should be law to
us. To have lived without constant intercourse with one of whom the
Jews said, "Behold how he loved him," would have been disgraceful to
Lazarus, is it excusable in us whom Jesus has loved with an everlasting
love? To have been cold to him who wept over his lifeless corpse, would
have argued great brutishness in Lazarus. What does it argue in us over
whom the Saviour has not only wept, but bled? Come, brethren, who read
this portion, let us return unto our heavenly Bridegroom, and ask for
his Spirit that we may be on terms of closer intimacy with him, and
henceforth sit at the table with him.

My Utmost For His Highest : "It Is Finished"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

November 21, 2007

IT IS FINISHED

I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do.

John 17:4

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=joh+17:4&sr=1

The Death of Jesus Christ is the performance in history of the very
Mind of God. There is no room for looking on Jesus Christ as a
martyr; His death was not something that happened to Him which might
have been prevented: His death was the very reason why He came.

Never build your preaching of forgiveness on the fact that God is our
Father and He will forgive us because He loves us. It is untrue to
Jesus Christ's revelation of God; it makes the Cross unnecessary, and
the Redemption "much ado about nothing." If God does forgive sin, it
is because of the Death of Christ. God could forgive men in no other
way than by the death of His Son, and Jesus is exalted to be Saviour
because of His death. "We see Jesus because of the suffering of
death, crowned with glory and honour." The greatest note of triumph
that ever sounded in the ears of a startled universe was that sounded
on the Cross of Christ - "It is finished." That is the last word in
the Redemption of man.

Anything that belittles or obliterates the holiness of God by a false
view of the love of God, is untrue to the revelation of God given by
Jesus Christ. Never allow the thought that Jesus Christ stands with
us against God out of pity and compassion; that He became a curse for
us out of sympathy with us. Jesus Christ became a curse for us by the
Divine decree. Our portion of realizing the terrific meaning of the
curse is conviction of sin, the gift of shame and penitence is given
us - this is the great mercy of God. Jesus Christ hates the wrong in
man, and Calvary is the estimate of His hatred.

FEAR AND TREMBLING

Philippians 2:12-13

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Philippians+2:12-13

Dear Father,

Help me to obey your word, not only in the presence of other
followers of Christ but even more when they are absent, when
there's no one there but me.

Be with me as I work out my salvation with fear and trembling,
lest I should ever think that I have earned it. After all, it is
you, dear God, who is at work within me, both causing me to do your
good purpose and to purpose your good deeds.

In the name of Jesus, our star of hope. Amen.

WJD! -- David's Son -- Luke 20:41-44

David's Son

Then Jesus said, "Why do people say that the Christ is the
Son of David? In the book of Psalms, David himself says: 'The
Lord (God) said to my Lord (Christ): Sit by me at my right
side, and I will put your enemies under your power.' David
calls the Christ 'Lord.' But the Christ is also the son of
David. How can both these things be true?"

-- Luke 20:41-44 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
As Jesus' opponents repeatedly tried to "trip him up" with their
religious questioning, Jesus turns the tables on them and asks them a
question. As a descendant of King David, Jesus could claim to be
David's son. But, as Jesus points out using their own means of
interpretation, David also calls the Messiah his LORD! How can this be
so? Of course Jesus is not only taking part in religious banter, he is
also trying to jolt them out of their steadfast desire to get rid of
him and open their eyes to see who it is that chooses to walk among
them -- Jesus, the Messiah, the Son of David, and the Son of God.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Father, I do believe that Jesus is my LORD, my Messiah and Christ, my
Savior, and my King. Forgive me for not living out that faith with more
passion and more character. Empower me with your Spirit to become more
like him each day. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
