=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

The Comma Makes All the Difference, by Ron Rose

Preparation

Did you know that Oreos can talk?

Sit down; break-open a package, and listen.

Do you hear something like, "Ohhhh, did you have a bad day?"

Then, does some voice deep within you answer, "Yes, it was horrible,
thanks for always being there for me?" "Eat as much as you want ...
we're here to help."

I know that when you're stressed and threatened, you may not find
refuge in a stack of Oreos, but everyone finds refuge somewhere.

Where do you find it? In food, television, shopping, sports, or a visa
card? Perhaps you're like me, struggling with finding refuge inside the
resources of your own mind? "After all, if I just think about it more,
concentrate harder, and search deeper I can figure it out, myself."

Well this weekend the preacher spoke simple words, but the Spirit of
God convicted me. Instead of choosing God as my refuge, I've slipped
into choosing my own creative abilities and strategies.

I find myself praying ... "Please, God! Do this! Do it now! Please."

Well, I repent! I'm turning to a better choice. I choose God as my
refuge. He is my source of strength and help.

Now, my prayer is, "Please God! (No comma) No matter what happens I
want to please you." It's a faith step. "Thank you God for being sooo
close, sooo faithful, and sooo understanding."

That little comma is more than a subtle difference. It's a total turn
around ... It's a sign of personal choice ... a mark of repentance.

Inspiration

J.W. had accepted his need for surgery. It was serious. The surgeons
were about to begin the process of attaching his lungs to his chest
wall. Shirley, his wife, was anxious and consumed with apprehension and
fear.

She was praying ... "Please, God" "We want J.W. back home, Please"

Her preacher suggested that she pray, "Turn J.W over to God and ask God
to help you accept whatever happens." "I just couldn't do that,"
Shirley said. "At that time it felt like I would be letting him die if
I prayed that prayer, as if I had some control over our circumstances.
In my mind, I felt like I would be betraying him."

It was late in the evening when the Doctors actually performed the
surgery. Shirley remembers, "I was the only one around when they
discovered J.W. had been hooked up backwards to some vital machine. My
husband was now in critical condition and could die and he was in so
much pain that he kept pushing me away. Nothing the doctors did was
bringing any relief. J.W. was in serious trouble and I felt totally
useless. I was just in their way." "I left the room and wandered across
the hallway and into the nearby stairway. I simply could not bear to
see him suffer any more. I now realized that just like I was in the
doctor's way, I was also in God's way. At that moment I turned my
husband over to the Lord. I stood in that dark stairwell all alone,
scared, and in tears. I finally prayed in faith that God's will be
done, regardless."

It was a holy moment for her. "I felt like God put his arms on my
shoulders. All my fears and burdens were lifted away. I found all the
help and strength I needed."

It's your choice.

Now her prayer changed. "I don't want to get in the way, Lord, I just
want to please you, whatever happens."

When Shirley walked back into that hospital room, J.W. looked up and
smiled. While God was lifting Shirley's burdens, he was relieving
J.W.'s pain. As she held J.W.'s hand and put a cool cloth on his head,
she thanked God for his fingerprints that night and for his eternal
refuge.

J.W. and Shirley found God in the deep that night and they have a faith
story people need to hear.

Motivation

Do you find yourself praying ... "Please, God" more than "Please God?"

Where is your refuge? When you get stressed or threatened, where do you
go?

Faith cries out, "God is faithful." He is the perpetual source of help
and strength. So, the question of the day is: Do you want his help and
strength?

It's your choice.

Morning & Evening -- Luke 11:27, and Daniel 3:16,

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

MORNING:

"A certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said
unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps
which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are
they that hear the word of God, and keep it."
-- Luke 11:27,

It is fondly imagined by some that it must have involved very special
privileges to have been the mother of our Lord, because they supposed
that she had the benefit of looking into his very heart in a way in
which we cannot hope to do. There may be an appearance of plausibility
in the supposition, but not much. We do not know that Mary knew more
than others; what she did know she did well to lay up in her heart; but
she does not appear from anything we read in the Evangelists to have
been a better-instructed believer than any other of Christ's disciples.
All that she knew we also may discover. Do you wonder that we should
say so? Here is a text to prove it: "The secret of the Lord is with
them that fear him, and he will show them his covenant." Remember the
Master's words-"Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant
knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all
things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you." So
blessedly does this Divine Revealer of secrets tell us his heart, that
he keepeth back nothing which is profitable to us; his own assurance
is, "If it were not so, I would have told you." Doth he not this day
manifest himself unto us as he doth not unto the world? It is even so;
and therefore we will not ignorantly cry out, "Blessed is the womb that
bare thee," but we will intelligently bless God that, having heard the
Word and kept it, we have first of all as true a communion with the
Saviour as the Virgin had, and in the second place as true an
acquaintance with the secrets of his heart as she can be supposed to
have obtained. Happy soul to be thus privileged!

EVENING:

"Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said ... Be it
known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods."
-- Daniel 3:16,

The narrative of the manly courage and marvellous deliverance of the
three holy children, or rather champions, is well calculated to excite
in the minds of believers firmness and steadfastness in upholding the
truth in the teeth of tyranny and in the very jaws of death. Let young
Christians especially learn from their example, both in matters of
faith in religion, and matters of uprightness in business, never to
sacrifice their consciences. Lose all rather than lose your integrity,
and when all else is gone, still hold fast a clear conscience as the
rarest jewel which can adorn the bosom of a mortal. Be not guided by
the will-o'-the-wisp of policy, but by the pole-star of divine
authority. Follow the right at all hazards. When you see no present
advantage, walk by faith and not by sight. Do God the honour to trust
him when it comes to matters of loss for the sake of principle. See
whether he will be your debtor! See if he doth not even in this life
prove his word that "Godliness, with contentment, is great gain," and
that they who "seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
shall have all these things added unto them." Should it happen that, in
the providence of God, you are a loser by conscience, you shall find
that if the Lord pays you not back in the silver of earthly prosperity,
he will discharge his promise in the gold of spiritual joy. Remember
that a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of that which he
possesseth. To wear a guileless spirit, to have a heart void of
offence, to have the favour and smile of God, is greater riches than
the mines of Ophir could yield, or the traffic of Tyre could win.
"Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and
inward contention therewith." An ounce of heart's-ease is worth a ton
of gold.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Reconciling One's Self To The Fact Of Sin"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

June 24, 2008

RECONCILING ONE'S SELF TO THE FACT OF SIN

This is your hour, and the power of darkness."

Luke 22:53

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=lu+22:53&sr=1

It is not being reconciled to the fact of sin that produces all the
disasters in life. You may talk about the nobility of human nature,
but there is something in human nature which will laugh in the face
of every ideal you have. If you refuse to agree with the fact that
there is vice and self-seeking, something downright spiteful and
wrong in human beings, instead of reconciling yourself to it, when it
strikes your life, you will compromise with it and say it is of no
use to battle against it. Have you made allowance for this hour and
the power of darkness, or do you take a recognition of yourself that
misses out sin? In your bodily relationships and friendships do you
reconcile yourself to the fact of sin? If not, you will be caught
round the next corner and you will compromise with it. If you
reconcile yourself to the fact of sin, you will realize the danger at
once - Yes, I see what that would mean. The recognition of sin does
not destroy the basis of friendship; it establishes a mutual regard
for the fact that the basis of life is tragic. Always beware of an
estimate of life which does not recognize the fact that there is sin.

Jesus Christ never trusted human nature, yet He was never cynical,
never suspicious, because He trusted absolutely in what He could do
for human nature. The pure man or woman, not the innocent, is the
safeguarded man or woman. You are never safe with an innocent man or
woman. Men and women have no business to be innocent; God demands
that they be pure and virtuous. Innocence is the characteristic of a
child; it is a blameworthy thing for a man or woman not to be
reconciled to the fact of sin.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Words to Comfort 2

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Words to Comfort 2
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 NIV

God never starts a project that He doesnt complete. He doesnt have to! God has plenty of time, all the resources He needs, and God always keeps His promises. If you are a Christian, God is conforming you into the image of His Son, He is equipping you for battle in the world, and He is preparing a Heavenly home for you! Of these things you can be sure!

Before my boys could drive we took them to and from school. Sometimes my wife would ask me in the morning to take her place in that particular day. I didnt expect her to call again to ask me; once was enough. She was confident that, because I love my sons, that I would remember to pick them up. But while she has confidence in me, it is not always guarantee that I will be there, is it? Not to be morbid, but there are numerous things which could have happened to keep me from being at school in time. I am not sovereign. I couldnt control whether my car started or not, whether traffic got in my way, or if my heart would stop pumping before I got there.

God is sovereign. When He begins a work, He can and will carry it through! If you are having trouble trusting God, its because you are viewing Him more like you might view me, as a limited being. You may want to take a fresh look. God is NOT limited. God is able to do immeasurably more than you and I could ever think or imagine!

If life has you wavering in your faith, re-look at the power and potential of your God! Your problems are not too big for Him!

Praying with Paul : "No Other Gospel"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

NO OTHER GOSPEL

Galatians 1:1-16

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Galatians+1:1-16

Dear Father,

Thank you that the revelation given through your apostles was not
concocted by human minds. May I never turn to "another" gospel nor
to a distortion of your gospel. May I never desert the grace of
Christ and become accursed. And may I never seek the favor of men.
I desire your favor. I want to be your servant, to please you and
you alone.

Grant that I may understand the revelation you gave through Paul -
of salvation by grace through faith apart from works of law. In the
complete turn-around in his life help me see the transforming power
of your gospel.

Thank you, Father, for the grace and peace that come through your
Son, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from
this evil age, according to your will. To you be glory for ever and
ever.

In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Don't Stop Him!

Then John said, "Teacher, we saw a man using your name to
force demons out of a person. He is not one of us. So we told
him to stop, because he does not belong to our group." Jesus
said, "Don't stop him. Any person that uses my name to do
powerful things will not soon say bad things about me."

-- Mark 9:38-39 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Good deeds done in the name of Jesus are a blessing no matter which
group or which person is doing them. Our goal should be for people to
be blessed and Jesus to be praised!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
LORD God, my Abba Father, may your name be praised and lost people be
reached, through the work of others I don't yet know. Help my heart
rejoice in that work and those who do it. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Today's Verse : Ephesians 6:24

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

June 24, 2008

VERSE:
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying
love.
-- Ephesians 6:24

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Ephesians+6:24

THOUGHT:
Ephesians makes some of the greatest declarations in the entire
Bible about the grace of God. This one, however, may be the very
richest. Grace is offered to us whether we accept it or not. But,
grace is with us in rich abundance and blessing as we love Jesus
and hang on to his love with a grip of faith that is unwavering.

PRAYER:
Holy Father, I do love you and your Son Jesus with all my heart.
Forgive me when my display of this passion dims and my
communication of his grace to others lags. Rekindle in me an
unquenchable desire to show my love for Jesus in all that I do and
say. In his name, Jesus, your Son, I pray. Amen.
