Today Our Enjoyment of Christ Is Veiled

Today Our Enjoyment of Christ Is Veiled

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1Pet 1: 13 Therefore girding up the loins of your mind and
being sober, set your hope perfectly on the grace being brought
to you at the revelation [unveiling] of Jesus Christ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Toward the end of verse 13 Peter speaks of the unveiling of
Jesus Christ. At present, we are enjoying the Lord Jesus as a
foretaste under the veil. But the time is coming when the veil
will be taken away. Then we shall be able to declare,
"Hallelujah, I am enjoying the Lord Jesus outside the veil!"
Today we are enjoying grace; however, we are enjoying this grace
under the covering of a veil.

Because we are under a veil with the Lord, others may not be
able to understand what we are doing. We may try to tell them
that we are enjoying Christ. However, they may say that this is
nonsense. Our enjoyment is concealed, and others who do not
share the same experience cannot know anything about it. But one
day the Lord Jesus will be unveiled. Then others will be able to
understand that we have been enjoying the Lord Jesus. This
unveiling will be the coming grace as the consummation of the
full salvation of the Triune God.

If we are not enjoying the Lord Jesus as the foretaste, we shall
not have the hope that He will be unveiled as our full taste.
When we enjoy the foretaste, we have such a hope. We need to set
our hope completely on the grace being brought to us at the
unveiling of Jesus Christ.

Grace as the Foretaste and the Coming Full Taste

Grace as the Foretaste and the Coming Full Taste

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bible Verses~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 Pet 1: 13 Therefore girding up the loins of your mind and
being sober, set your hope perfectly on the grace being brought
to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
John 1: 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and
reality came through Jesus Christ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Words of Ministry~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The grace has been brought to us by the Lord's first coming
(John 1:17). It will be consummated by His second coming. On
such grace we should set our hope. Whatever we enjoy of the
Lord today is, comparatively speaking, a small portion. In the
Bible this is called the foretaste; it is not yet the full
taste. This age is an age of foretaste. But when the Lord Jesus
comes back, we shall enjoy the full taste. While we are
enjoying the foretaste, we set our hope on the coming full
taste.

The nature, the essence, and the reality of the foretaste are
the same as that of the full taste. The difference is one of
quantity. Today we are enjoying a small portion as a sample, a
foretaste. Eventually we shall enjoy the full portion and
experience the full taste. Therefore, on the one hand, we are
now enjoying grace; on the other hand, we are expecting the
coming full taste. This means that as we are enjoying the
foretaste, we are expecting to have the full taste. This causes
us to set our hope on the coming full taste. The coming full
taste will be the consummation of this unique grace.

This grace is not merely unmerited favor. It is the Triune God
as our full salvation for our full enjoyment. Today we have
only the foretaste, the enjoyment of a small portion, but the
full taste is coming. Let us set our hope on this coming full
taste, which will be the consummation of grace.

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

God on eBay?, by Lisa Mikitarian

Of course, God is everywhere. I shouldn't feel wonder finding Him
there. In fact, everywhere I go, I should seek Him.

On this day, what I was seeking, though, was shoes. With the high gas
prices added to living far from civilization -- 30 miles to the nearest
shopping -- I've learned to buy on-line. Of course it's not as if
someone had to twist my arm. The world has become an oyster at my
fingertips -- Bah-ha-ha-ha! Sorry, I don't know where that came from.

Anyway, when it was time to buy new Size 10, Ladies, New Balance
Running Shoes -- all-terrain, preferably -- I went to eBay, where I
knew I would spend less. I found them, bid on them, and won them. Woo
hoo.

About a week later, on that particularly clear spring morning, the UPS
man delivered my package. I opened it and was surprised to see, along
side my shoes, a small item wrapped in pastel pink tissue paper with
fuchsia ribbon. I unwrapped it to find a tube of perfume-scented hand
lotion, which I promptly applied. I would thank the sender later.

I went through the rest of the morning with a cheerful spirit, thinking
about my mom who had died many years ago. She stayed at my side into
the afternoon of that beautiful day before it dawned on me why I was
thinking of her. She used to send me small wrapped surprises in the
mail.

As soon as I made the connection, I went to the computer and logged
onto eBay and found the sender's address and wrote her a note to thank
her for the kindness of that small gift which had brought me such joy.
Minutes later "Kira" replied that she too had lost her mother and that
her mother also used to send her small gifts by mail. She added that my
writing to thank her had really blessed her day. Blessed? Added to the
tone of the email and the gesture of the gift—could it be?

Touches that might lead the way to Him.

A couple more emails back and forth and we ascertained, indeed, we were
sisters in the family of Christ -- sisters who had blessed one
another's day. Kira wrote she sends a small gift with everything she
sells as a way of saying thank you and periodically she receives a
response and of those responses, sometimes she meets a member of her
Christian family.

What a beautiful testimony. It made me wonder if I send out "calling
cards" in my interactions with strangers, signs that those who "know
the secret handshake" would pick up on. Taking it further, do I send
out "touches of God" others could feel whether they personally knew
their Savior or not? Touches that might lead the way to Him?

God on eBay?

Of course, God is everywhere. I shouldn't feel wonder finding Him
anywhere. Everywhere I go, I should seek Him and every place I visit, I
should reveal Him through loving words and kind gestures.

Let your conversation be gracious and effective so that you will
have the right answer for everyone (Colossians 4:6 NLT).

Morning & Evening -- Acts 5:31 and Psalms 91:5

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

MORNING:

"Him hath God exalted."
-- Acts 5:31

Jesus, our Lord, once crucified, dead and buried, now sits upon the
throne of glory. The highest place that heaven affords is his by
undisputed right. It is sweet to remember that the exaltation of Christ
in heaven is a representative exaltation. He is exalted at the Father's
right hand, and though as Jehovah he had eminent glories, in which
finite creatures cannot share, yet as the Mediator, the honours which
Jesus wears in heaven are the heritage of all the saints. It is
delightful to reflect how close is Christ's union with his people. We
are actually one with him; we are members of his body; and his
exaltation is our exaltation. He will give us to sit upon his throne,
even as he has overcome, and is set down with his Father on his throne;
he has a crown, and he gives us crowns too; he has a throne, but he is
not content with having a throne to himself, on his right hand there
must be his queen, arrayed in "gold of Ophir." He cannot be glorified
without his bride. Look up, believer, to Jesus now; let the eye of your
faith behold him with many crowns upon his head; and remember that you
will one day be like him, when you shall see him as he is; you shall
not be so great as he is, you shall not be so divine, but still you
shall, in a measure, share the same honours, and enjoy the same
happiness and the same dignity which he possesses. Be content to live
unknown for a little while, and to walk your weary way through the
fields of poverty, or up the hills of affliction; for by-and-by you
shall reign with Christ, for he has "made us kings and priests unto
God, and we shall reign for ever and ever." Oh!, wonderful thought for
the children of God! We have Christ for our glorious representative in
heaven's courts now, and soon he will come and receive us to himself,
to be with him there, to behold his glory, and to share his joy.

EVENING:

"Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night."
-- Psalms 91:5

What is this terror? It may be the cry of fire, or the noise of
thieves, or fancied appearances, or the shriek of sudden sickness or
death. We live in the world of death and sorrow, we may therefore look
for ills as well in the night-watches as beneath the glare of the
broiling sun. Nor should this alarm us, for be the terror what it may,
the promise is that the believer shall not be afraid. Why should he?
Let us put it more closely, why should we? God our Father is here, and
will be here all through the lonely hours; he is an almighty Watcher, a
sleepless Guardian, a faithful Friend. Nothing can happen without his
direction, for even hell itself is under his control. Darkness is not
dark to him. He has promised to be a wall of fire around his people-and
who can break through such a barrier? Worldlings may well be afraid,
for they have an angry God above them, a guilty conscience within them,
and a yawning hell beneath them; but we who rest in Jesus are saved
from all these through rich mercy. If we give way to foolish fear we
shall dishonour our profession, and lead others to doubt the reality of
godliness. We ought to be afraid of being afraid, lest we should vex
the Holy Spirit by foolish distrust. Down, then, ye dismal forebodings
and groundless apprehensions, God has not forgotten to be gracious, nor
shut up his tender mercies; it may be night in the soul, but there need
be no terror, for the God of love changes not. Children of light may
walk in darkness, but they are not therefore cast away, nay, they are
now enabled to prove their adoption by trusting in their heavenly
Father as hypocrites cannot do.

"Though the night be dark and dreary,
Darkness cannot hide from thee;
Thou art he, who, never weary,
Watchest where thy people be."

My Utmost For His Highest : "The Light That Fails"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 22, 2008

THE LIGHT THAT FAILS

We all with open face beholding ... the glory of the
Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:18

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2co+3:18&sr=1

A servant of God must stand so much alone that he never knows he is
alone. In the first phases of Christian life disheartenments come,
people who used to be lights flicker out, and those who used to stand
with us pass away. We have to get so used to it that we never know we
are standing alone. "All men forsook me . . notwithstanding the Lord
stood with me" (2 Tim. 4:16-17). We must build our faith, not on the
fading light, but on the light that never fails. When "big" men go we
are sad, until we see that they are meant to go, the one thing that
remains is looking in the face of God for ourselves.

Allow nothing to keep you from looking God sternly in the face about
yourself and about your doctrine, and every time you preach see that
you look God in the face about things first, then the glory will
remain all through. A Christian worker is one who perpetually looks
in the face of God and then goes forth to talk to people. The
characteristic of the ministry of Christ is that of unconscious glory
that abides. "Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he
talked with Him."

We are never called on to parade our doubts or to express the hidden
ecstasies of our life with God. The secret of the worker's life is
that he keeps in tune with God all the time.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Great Revealing

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Great Revealing
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets. Revelation 10:7 NIV

Every commentary I read on this verse of God's perfect word says the "mystery of God" is the fact that He would accept sinners into Heaven, by the forgiveness of sin, through the shed blood of His Son! I agree!

It is a mystery that a Holy God would not reject a mortal man like me!

That He would grant His grace to me is sometimes more than I can understand! (Don't get me wrong! I may not understand grace, but I'm still taking it!)

I'm not a prophet, and really not a Bible scholar, but I'd like to add a thought of my own to this verse! The complete mystery of God is still to be revealed!

You and I can expect to be surprised! We can anticipate being blown away at His glory. I suspect the best of the Father is still waiting for us!

Creation is great! God has done a wonderful job of speaking beauty into existence. We are fascinated with His love and grace. But, mark my word (really His word), the best is yet to come!

Heaven is going to be full of wonders we really know nothing about! It will be an awesome revelation! We couldn't understand it now if He explained it!

I'm looking forward to discovering the full mystery of God.

Praying with Paul : "Waiting on Each Other"

WAITING ON EACH OTHER

1 Corinthians 11:33-34

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+11:33-34

Dear Father, giver of bread and wine,

Give each of us perfect courtesy toward others, even more, perfect
love. When we come together, may we wait on each other.

May each of us satisfy our hunger at home rather than behave as
gluttons in the assembly of your people!

May we come together not to be condemned, but to build each other
up, and to be nourished by that bread which is life indeed, Jesus
Christ.

In the name of Jesus, who is the daily bread and wine of our
lives, I ask. Amen.

I Am Here!

That night, the boat was still in the middle of the lake.
Jesus was alone on the land. Jesus saw the boat far away on
the lake. He saw the followers working hard to row the boat.
The wind was blowing against them. Sometime between three and
six o'clock in the morning, Jesus went to the boat. Jesus was
walking on the water. Jesus continued walking until he was
almost past the boat. But the followers saw Jesus walking on
the water. They thought he was a ghost. The followers shouted
with fear. All the followers saw Jesus and were very afraid.
But Jesus spoke to the followers and said, "Don't worry! It's
me! Don't be afraid."

-- Mark 6:47-50 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
Where do you most fear being abandoned? Jesus will be there! That's the
message here. In the middle of the storm -- in a familiar place in a
storm with people you know and love and yet feel so helpless and alone
-- Jesus will meet you. If you will call out to him and trust his
desire to come to you and to help you, you will see him there. Don't
fear the storm! Don't be disconsolate because of the fear in the eyes
of those around you. Jesus will meet you in the storm and keep you
safe.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O Abba Father, help me believe that I will never be abandoned or left
alone -- not even in my worst and most fearful times. In Jesus' name I
ask for this faith. Amen.

Today's Verse : Ephesians 4:22-23

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

April 22, 2008

VERSE:
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put
off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful
desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds...
-- Ephesians 4:22-23

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Ephesians+4:22-23

THOUGHT:
We are made new when we become Christians. Most of us, however,
have moments when the old way of life erupts and wants to make its
presence known. This means that being new is a lifetime decision we
must make each day. As we make that commitment and seek to follow
the Lordship of our Savior, the Holy Spirit's power (that Paul
talks about all through Ephesians) is promised to us and the
Spirit's goal is to mature us to be like Christ. (Eph. 4:12-16; 2
Cor. 3:18)

PRAYER:
Almighty God and dear Heavenly Father, please bless me today as
I seek to live as a new person -- cleansed, made holy, and
empowered by your Spirit. Give me a new and clean mind as I
intentionally put aside my old habits and desires. In Jesus' name I
pray. Amen.
