=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Dad-Dee, by Russ Lawson

I find children a wonderful source of inspiration. Children often
demonstrate what we should be as adults or what we should think
regarding having Christ in our lives.

My daughter-in-law, Mylinda, shared this little anecdote with me. A few
weeks ago she was sitting with 9 month old Allison, playing and talking
with her as we adults sometimes do. She looked at the baby and said,
"How did you get to be so cute?"

To her surprise, our smart and beautiful grand daughter looked at her
and simply said, "Dad-dee," as if answering her question. When she
shared the story with me I just smiled and told her that I hope she
realized that her intelligent daughter inherited it through genetics
passed from grandfather to father to daughter!

When you are done smiling at the foolishness of a doting grand father,
stop and think about the spiritual application of this story. Who do
you blame (or claim) is responsible for you being what you are? If you
are a Christian it's wonderful to be able to be identified as a Child
of the King. To say, "I am what I am because of the Father!" There is a
spiritual song that talks about having "the Father's eyes." Eyes that
will allow us to see what God sees of people and our world.

The child of the King.

If we claim to be a Christian, all that we are and all that we will
ever be is because of what we inherited from The Father! The apostle
Paul wrote these wonderful words about our "spiritual blood
relationship" to God:

I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my
prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation,
so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your
heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to
which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in
the saints (Ephesians 1:16-18 NIV).

One translation puts verse 18 this way:

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can
understand the wonderful future he has promised to those he called.
I want you to realize what a rich and glorious inheritance he has
given to his people (NLT).

Never forget that as a Christian, you are the adopted child of God and
that God wants to flood "the eyes of your heart" with light helping you
realize that you are truly the child of the King!

P.S. Yes, Allison has my blue eyes also!

Morning & Evening -- Genesis 21:6 and Revelation 3:7

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday, June 15, 2008

MORNING:

"And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that
hear will laugh with me."
-- Genesis 21:6

It was far above the power of nature, and even contrary to its laws,
that the aged Sarah should be honoured with a son; and even so it is
beyond all ordinary rules that I, a poor, helpless, undone sinner,
should find grace to bear about in my soul the indwelling Spirit of the
Lord Jesus. I, who once despaired, as well I might, for my nature was
as dry, and withered, and barren, and accursed as a howling wilderness,
even I have been made to bring forth fruit unto holiness. Well may my
mouth be filled with joyous laughter, because of the singular,
surprising grace which I have received of the Lord, for I have found
Jesus, the promised seed, and he is mine for ever. This day will I lift
up psalms of triumph unto the Lord who has remembered my low estate,
for "my heart rejoiceth in the Lord; mine horn is exalted in the Lord;
my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies, because I rejoice in thy
salvation."

I would have all those that hear of my great deliverance from hell, and
my most blessed visitation from on high, laugh for joy with me. I would
surprise my family with my abundant peace; I would delight my friends
with my ever-increasing happiness; I would edify the Church with my
grateful confessions; and even impress the world with the cheerfulness
of my daily conversation. Bunyan tells us that Mercy laughed in her
sleep, and no wonder when she dreamed of Jesus; my joy shall not stop
short of hers while my Beloved is the theme of my daily thoughts. The
Lord Jesus is a deep sea of joy: my soul shall dive therein, shall be
swallowed up in the delights of his society. Sarah looked on her Isaac,
and laughed with excess of rapture, and all her friends laughed with
her; and thou, my soul, look on thy Jesus, and bid heaven and earth
unite in thy joy unspeakable.

EVENING:

"He openeth, and no man shutteth."
-- Revelation 3:7

Jesus is the keeper of the gates of paradise and before every believing
soul he setteth an open door, which no man or devil shall be able to
close against it. What joy it will be to find that faith in him is the
golden key to the everlasting doors. My soul, dost thou carry this key
in thy bosom, or art thou trusting to some deceitful pick-lock, which
will fail thee at last? Hear this parable of the preacher, and remember
it. The great King has made a banquet, and he has proclaimed to all the
world that none shall enter but those who bring with them the fairest
flower that blooms. The spirits of men advance to the gate by
thousands, and they bring each one the flower which he esteems the
queen of the garden; but in crowds they are driven from the royal
presence, and enter not into the festive halls. Some bear in their hand
the deadly nightshade of superstition, or the flaunting poppies of
Rome, or the hemlock of self- righteousness, but these are not dear to
the King, the bearers are shut out of the pearly gates. My soul, hast
thou gathered the rose of Sharon? Dost thou wear the lily of the valley
in thy bosom constantly? If so, when thou comest up to the gates of
heaven thou wilt know its value, for thou hast only to show this
choicest of flowers, and the Porter will open: not for a moment will he
deny thee admission, for to that rose the Porter openeth ever. Thou
shalt find thy way with the rose of Sharon in thy hand up to the throne
of God himself, for heaven itself possesses nothing that excels its
radiant beauty, and of all the flowers that bloom in paradise there is
none that can rival the lily of the valley. My soul, get Calvary's
blood-red rose into thy hand by faith, by love wear it, by communion
preserve it, by daily watchfulness make it thine all in all, and thou
shalt be blessed beyond all bliss, happy beyond a dream. Jesus, be mine
for ever, my God, my heaven, my all.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Get A Move On"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

June 15, 2008

GET A MOVE ON

And beside this ... add . .

2 Peter 1:5

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2pe+1:5&sr=1

You have inherited the Divine nature, says Peter (v.4), now screw
your attention down and form habits, give diligence, concentrate.
"Add" means all that character means. No man is born either naturally
or supernaturally with character, he has to make character. Nor are
we born with habits; we have to form habits on the basis of the new
life God has put into us. We are not meant to be illuminated
versions, but the common stuff of ordinary life exhibiting the marvel
of the grace of God. Drudgery is the touchstone of character. The
great hindrance in spiritual life is that we will look for big things
to do. "Jesus took a towel...and began to wash the disciples' feet."

There are times when there is no illumination and no thrill, but just
the daily round, the common task. Routine is God's way of saving us
between our times of inspiration. Do not expect God always to give
you His thrilling minutes, but learn to live in the domain of
drudgery by the power of God.

It is the "adding" that is difficult. We say we do not expect God to
carry us to heaven on flowery beds of ease, and yet we act as if we
did! The tiniest detail in which I obey has all the omnipotent power
of the grace of God behind it. If I do my duty, not for duty's sake,
but because I believe God is engineering my circumstances, then at
the very point of my obedience the whole superb grace of God is mine
through the Atonement.

Praying with Paul : "Boasting in Christ"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / PRAYING WITH PAUL from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

BOASTING IN CHRIST

2 Corinthians 10:15-18

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2+Corinthians+10:15-18

Dear Father,

Let me have pride in what I do, not in claiming someone else's
work. Grant me to be active for you in new endeavors or new places,
not boasting of work done in another person's field.

Father, increase my faith, so that the sphere of the influence of
your Good News may be greatly enlarged through me and passed on
even to other lands. Let me boast, not of what I do, but of what
you do through me. "Let him who boasts boast of the Lord."

What I really want, Father, is not to commend myself, just talking
a good story, but to have your approval, your acceptance, your
commendation.

In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

WJD! -- Delivered! -- Mark 9:25-27

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / WHAT JESUS DID! --

--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Delivered!

Jesus saw that all the people were running there to see what
was happening. So Jesus spoke to the evil spirit. Jesus said,
"You evil spirit that makes this boy deaf and stops him from
talking--I command you to come out of this boy and never
enter him again!" The {evil} spirit screamed. The spirit
caused the boy to fall on the ground again, and then the
spirit came out. The boy looked like he was dead. Many people
said, "He is dead!" But Jesus held the boy's hand and helped
him stand.

-- Mark 9:25-27 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
One of the things I love so much about Jesus is that his miracles were
not about him or for him. He cared about the people he healed. He took
care of their dignity as well as their physical ailment. Jesus healed
the boy before the crowd of onlookers grew too large. When the boy was
healed, he took him by the hand and helped him up. The miracle wasn't
about Jesus' power being displayed to dazzle the crowds. No, the
miracle was about the love and care of God being shown.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
O Father in heaven, help me treat with dignity and grace all those you
give me the privilege to serve. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Today's Verse : Matthew 6:15

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

June 15, 2008

VERSE:
But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not
forgive your sins.
-- Matthew 6:15

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Matthew+6:15

THOUGHT:
Can you think of a more frightening thought than God not
forgiving our sins? We know how much he paid so our sins could be
forgiven! We know how much he loves us! We know how much he wants
us to be in relationship with him! So why would he withhold his
forgiveness? Because we demonstrate that we have not received it or
do not understand it! God is gracious and he will not accept those
who are not gracious!

PRAYER:
Holy God, there are those that I do find it difficult to
forgive. Please, right now while I'm praying, soften my heart by
your Spirit, cleanse my soul of any bitterness or resentment, and
please empower me to let go of the pain of the past and forgive. I
thank you for this grace to not only be forgiven, but to also
forgive. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Today's KJV Verse : Matthew 6:15

June 15, 2008

VERSE:
But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not
forgive your sins.
-- Matthew 6:15

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Matthew+6:15&translation=kjv

Amen.
