Today's Verse : Jude 1:24-25

January 24, 2008

VERSE:
To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you
before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy -- to
the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and
forevermore! Amen.
-- Jude 1:24-25

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Jude+1:24-25

THOUGHT:
What a great cluster of truths are found in this one prayer of
blessing. Our eyes are first drawn to what God can do for us --
prevent us from falling and present us before his glorious presence
in joyful perfection. But on closer inspection, our hearts are
drawn to the description of our incredible God: the one who is
able, the only God, our Savior, the one who lives in glory and
majesty and power and authority, the one who has communicated to us
through Jesus our Lord, and the one who exists before all ages and
who is alive now and who will be forevermore. Our blessings as
God's children are incredible, but the reason why they are is that
our God is beyond incredible, awesome, and wonderful. Our words
cannot do him justice. Our brightest insights cannot comprehend the
glory he has. Yet despite his grandeur, he loves you and me in our
finite mortality!

PRAYER:
Awesome and Holy Lord Most High, thank you for not only being
God, but for loving me and showing yourself to me in the face of
Jesus. I look forward to standing in your presence, enjoying your
shared perfection, and praising your glory with the angels. Please
accept my limited and human praise until the day my words are
unchained from their mortality and my imperfections are swallowed
up in your glory. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: The Boat Story Three

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
The Boat Story Three
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:38-39 NIV

Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"

Jesus, dont you care that my heart is broken? Jesus, dont you care that my spouse is abusing me? Jesus, dont you care that my child is growing away from the Lord? Jesus, dont you care that my marriage is falling apart? Jesus, dont you care that I cant pay these bills? Jesus, dont you care that my grandmother is suffering in physical pain? Jesus, dont you care that ( you fill in the blank here)? Jesus, dont you care?

Have you ever asked those questions? Have you ever wondered where God was? Have you ever questioned the wisdom in His plan?

When the storms of life come our way, even though Jesus is asleep in the stern of the boat, we can sometimes forget that He is working all things for good. The Bible is full of great promises, many of them that I have personally experienced, but when the struggles come, those promises often seem empty at best.

The disciples were standing in water! The boat was about to sink! The waves were getting stronger! The storm was raging! The lives were threatened! The fear was rampant! The trust was diminishing! Ever been there?

Maybe you are there right now. Does Jesus care? May I tell you, based on the Word of God and personal experience, that Jesus does indeed care! He cares, and He has a plan! Hold tight to Him! Call upon Him! Tell Him your fears! Trust only in Him! Then watch Him as He calms the storm! (In His time of course!)

When you are in the final days of your life, what will you want?

Will you find comfort in rereading your financial statement? Of
course not. What will matter then will be people. If
relationships will matter most then, shouldn't they matter most

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Remember Grace, by Skye Noe

I wish I was better at documenting my life. As much as I like to think
my memory is strong and full of detail, there is so much that has
slipped away. There are many solutions to this problem; some people are
journal writers and have years of memorable moments locked away safely
in the pages of their diary. Others choose to take lots of pictures and
have boxes of old photos that chronicle special events. And still
others have turned to blogging as a source of remembrance. These
methods are diverse in nature, but the goal is inherently the same. We
all strive to tell our story. We long for opportunities to relive the
moments of our lives and without a record these moments are lost
forever.

Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his
disciples which are not recorded in this book (John 20:30).

Ever wonder how many miracles of Jesus are unknown to the world?

How many blind were given sight by His loving touch?

How many of the dead were brought back to life?

The stories of Jesus' life here on earth are precious to us because,
for believers, it gives a glimpse of what is to come. The unconditional
love combined with boundless mercy and infinite power set the stage for
the most beautiful collection of stories. If only the disciples had a
better memory. Perhaps they could have added more stories to the book,
but now it's too late. These stories have fallen into the past.

The miracles of Jesus are alive ...

But wait, look what the next verse says:

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the son of God, and that by believing you may have life in
his name (John 20:31).

We will never know the details of every miracle performed by Jesus, but
we can still tell our story. The miracles of Jesus are alive and with
us today. Everyone that accepts "Jesus is the Christ, the son of God,
and that by believing you may have life in his name," has taken part in
a miracle.

I'll continue to lose certain memories over the years, but I will never
forget the miracle of God's grace. The proof is documented in my heart
and written in the journal of my mind. God's miracle of grace is new
each day. If you would like to learn how to accept this grace and start
your own story, please visit our website at www.hopeforlife.org or
contact me at skye@hopeforlife.org.

Morning & Evening -- Psalms 89:19 and Song of Solomon 1:4

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

MORNING:

"I have exalted one chosen out of the people."
-- Psalms 89:19

Why was Christ chosen out of the people? Speak, my heart, for
heart-thoughts are best. Was it not that he might be able to be our
brother, in the blest tie of kindred blood? Oh, what relationship there
is between Christ and the believer! The believer can say, "I have a
Brother in heaven; I may be poor, but I have a Brother who is rich, and
is a King, and will he suffer me to want while he is on his throne? Oh,
no! He loves me; he is my Brother." Believer, wear this blessed
thought, like a necklace of diamonds, around the neck of thy memory;
put it, as a golden ring, on the finger of recollection, and use it as
the King's own seal, stamping the petitions of thy faith with
confidence of success. He is a brother born for adversity, treat him as
such.

Christ was also chosen out of the people that he might know our wants
and sympathize with us. "He was tempted in all points like as we are,
yet without sin." In all our sorrows we have his sympathy. Temptation,
pain, disappointment, weakness, weariness, poverty-he knows them all,
for he has felt all. Remember this, Christian, and let it comfort thee.
However difficult and painful thy road, it is marked by the footsteps
of thy Saviour; and even when thou reachest the dark valley of the
shadow of death, and the deep waters of the swelling Jordan, thou wilt
find his footprints there. In all places whithersoever we go, he has
been our forerunner; each burden we have to carry, has once been laid
on the shoulders of Immanuel.

"His way was much rougher and darker than mine
Did Christ, my Lord, suffer, and shall I repine?"

Take courage! Royal feet have left a blood-red track upon the road, and
consecrated the thorny path for ever.

EVENING:

"We will remember thy love more than wine."
-- Song of Solomon 1:4

Jesus will not let his people forget his love. If all the love they
have enjoyed should be forgotten, he will visit them with fresh love.
"Do you forget my cross?" says he, "I will cause you to remember it;
for at my table I will manifest myself anew to you. Do you forget what
I did for you in the council-chamber of eternity? I will remind you of
it, for you shall need a counsellor, and shall find me ready at your
call." Mothers do not let their children forget them. If the boy has
gone to Australia, and does not write home, his mother writes-"Has John
forgotten his mother?" Then there comes back a sweet epistle, which
proves that the gentle reminder was not in vain. So is it with Jesus,
he says to us, "Remember me," and our response is, "We will remember
thy love." We will remember thy love and its matchless history. It is
ancient as the glory which thou hadst with the Father before the world
was. We remember, O Jesus, thine eternal love when thou didst become
our Surety, and espouse us as thy betrothed. We remember the love which
suggested the sacrifice of thyself, the love which, until the fulness
of time, mused over that sacrifice, and long for the hour whereof in
the volume of the book it was written of thee, "Lo, I come." We
remember thy love, O Jesus as it was manifest to us in thy holy life,
from the manger of Bethlehem to the garden of Gethsemane. We track thee
from the cradle to the grave-for every word and deed of thine was
love-and we rejoice in thy love, which death did not exhaust; thy love
which shone resplendent in thy resurrection. We remember that burning
fire of love which will never let thee hold thy peace until thy chosen
ones be all safely housed, until Zion be glorified, and Jerusalem
settled on her everlasting foundations of light and love in heaven.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Transformed By Insight"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST --

http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

January 23, 2008

TRANSFORMED BY INSIGHT

We all, with open face, beholding as in a glass the
glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image.

2 Corinthians 3:1

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2co+3:1&sr=1

The outstanding characteristic of a Christian is this unveiled
frankness before God so that the life becomes a mirror for other
lives. By being filled with the Spirit we are transformed, and by
beholding we become mirrors. You always know when a man has been
beholding the glory of the Lord, you feel in your inner spirit that
he is the mirror of the Lord's own character. Beware of anything
which would sully that mirror in you; it is nearly always a good
thing, the good that is not the best.

The golden rule for your life and mine is this concentrated keeping
of the life open towards God. Let everything else - work, clothes,
food, everything on earth - go by the board, saving that one thing.
The rush of other things always tends to obscure this concentration
on God. We have to maintain ourselves in the place of beholding,
keeping the life absolutely spiritual all through. Let other things
come and go as they may, let other people criticize as they will, but
never allow anything to obscure the life that is hid with Christ in
God. Never be hurried out of the relationship of abiding in Him. It
is the one thing that is apt to fluctuate but it ought not to. The
severest discipline of a Christian's life is to learn how to keep
"beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord."

THE RIGHTEOUS REIGN OF GRACE

Romans 5:18-24

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+5:18-24

Dear Father, bestower of eternal life,

How amazing that, even though one man's disobedience leads to
condemnation, the obedience of Jesus acquits us, makes us righteous
and leads to life!

Thank you that, whereas law increased the trespass, your grace
abounded all the more! Sin reigned in death, but your grace reigned
through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.

Thank you, Father in heaven. Thank you, thank you, thank you! In
the name of Jesus, our Savior and Justifier, I offer this thanks
and praise for your wonderful grace. Amen.

Pressures of the Caring

The next morning, Jesus woke up very early. Jesus left the
house while it was still dark. He went to a place to be alone
and pray. Later, Simon and his friends went to look for
Jesus. They found Jesus and said, "All the people are looking
for you!"

-- Mark 1:35-37 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
The more ministry involves working with people, the more we need quiet
time with God. In the previous verses in Mark 1, Jesus has been highly
involved in people-intensive ministry as he teaches, preaches, heals,
and casts out demons. This is exhausting work. Yet there is always more
work with people than any one of us can complete. There will always be
another need, broken heart, hurting soul, and desperate problem. For us
to continue to minister, we desperately need to get alone and be with
God to renew our relationship, to restore our soul, and to rekindle our
passion in the presence of God.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Father, I don't have the pressure or crush of people that your Son
faced in his ministry. However, I know I need to follow his example and
get away to center myself in your will and be rekindled by time in your
presence. Help me become more disciplined as I commit my life to
serving others as my Lord did. In Jesus' name and for his cause I pray.
Amen.
