Today's Verse : Romans 8:1-2

VERSE:
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of
life set me free from the law of sin and death.

-- Romans 8:1-2
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+8:1-2

THOUGHT:
The law of Spirit and life is a great liberator! We are set free
from the law of sin and death. Death has no mastery over us because
of Jesus' resurrection. Sin has no claim on us because Jesus on the
Cross paid off our debt to sin. We stand before God as his
righteous children, free at last because of the work of our mighty
Lord Jesus Christ. There is no condemnation in our future, only
glory!

PRAYER:
Thank you, Almighty God, for your plan to pay my ransom and to
liberate me from sin and death. Thank you for the confidence I have
because of your incomparable grace given to me through Jesus, in
whose name I pray. Amen.

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Hold On To Your Faith

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Hold On To Your Faith
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
Only hold on to what you have until I come. Revelation 2:25 NIV

Jesus was addressing the church at Thyatira. Many in the church had allowed false teaching to enter into their worship. They had diluted the Truth for lies of the devil. Yet, even among this church, there were a few who remained faithful. Jesus tells them to Hold on.

That is still Jesus' advice for the church today. Oh, I know life is difficult. As a pastor, there is never a Sunday that I don't hear about a new trial in the life of someone in our church. For that matter, if they aren't sharing, I'll share some of my own.

Life is full of strife. The world tries its best sometimes to get us down, to cause us to lose our joy. The stress and pressures in society today have led to a rise in suicides and depression. More is spent today on psychiatric care than ever before.

Jesus understands our pain. He knows the difficulties we face in life. He knows the temptation s of life are great. But, His best advice for us is sometimes just to Hold on.

Hold on to your faith in Him who controls the wind and the sea. Hold on to the Truth found in the Word of God. Hold on to the promises that He is who He claims to be and will do what He says He will do. Hold on to the future He has for you, a future of hope and joy which will last for all eternity.

Hold on to Christ today as you persevere through life. HOLD ON, dear Christian, HOLD ON!

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Eye Exams, by Steve Ridgell

I had my annual eye exam today, and I had the same thought I have
every year. What would happen if I could memorize the eye chart ahead
of time? I could "read" even the smallest line and it would not matter
whether the chart was far or near. Left eye or right, it would not even
matter. No more prescriptions for glasses. No more worry about breaking
them, or losing them. All I would have to do would be to memorize the
chart.

I could recite the proper letters in the proper order. My Optometrist
would pronounce my vision to be 20/20. Learn the chart, recite it
correctly, and my worries are over. Except for one problem: I still
would not be able to see as clearly as I should. Memorizing the chart
is not the same as being able to see the chart. An eye chart is not
about knowledge, or correct answers. It is about being able to see.

Some people think about the Bible like I think about an eye chart, but
the Bible is not simply a set of facts to memorize. It is the story of
God's relationship with man. It is told with God's own words. It is a
blueprint for living. The Bible itself says that it is a "lamp to my
feet and a light for my path." God speaks to us so we can see him, know
him, and live with him.

So the problem with using the Bible as a series of facts to be learned
misses the point. You still will not see. It is one thing to know Jesus
was born in Bethlehem. It is quite another to see that God sent a Son
from heaven to live among us, to let us know him, and to provide a way
to live in his house forever.

Knowing the right answers does not always make for a right life.

The purpose of the eye chart is not just to get the answers right; it
is to help me be able to see. The purpose of the Bible is not to just
get the answers right; it is to help me see God.

Morning & Evening -- 2 Corinthians 12:9 and Psalms 36:8

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

MORNING:

"My grace is sufficient for thee."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9

If none of God's saints were poor and tried, we should not know half so
well the consolations of divine grace. When we find the wanderer who
has not where to lay his head, who yet can say, "Still will I trust in
the Lord;" when we see the pauper starving on bread and water, who
still glories in Jesus; when we see the bereaved widow overwhelmed in
affliction, and yet having faith in Christ, oh! what honour it reflects
on the gospel. God's grace is illustrated and magnified in the poverty
and trials of believers. Saints bear up under every discouragement,
believing that all things work together for their good, and that out of
apparent evils a real blessing shall ultimately spring-that their God
will either work a deliverance for them speedily, or most assuredly
support them in the trouble, as long as he is pleased to keep them in
it. This patience of the saints proves the power of divine grace. There
is a lighthouse out at sea: it is a calm night-I cannot tell whether
the edifice is firm; the tempest must rage about it, and then I shall
know whether it will stand. So with the Spirit's work: if it were not
on many occasions surrounded with tempestuous waters, we should not
know that it was true and strong; if the winds did not blow upon it, we
should not know how firm and secure it was. The master-works of God are
those men who stand in the midst of difficulties, stedfast,
unmoveable,-

"Calm mid the bewildering cry,
Confident of victory."

He who would glorify his God must set his account upon meeting with
many trials. No man can be illustrious before the Lord unless his
conflicts be many. If then, yours be a much-tried path, rejoice in it,
because you will the better show forth the all-sufficient grace of God.
As for his failing you, never dream of it-hate the thought. The God who
has been sufficient until now, should be trusted to the end.

EVENING:

"They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy
house."
-- Psalms 36:8

Sheba's queen was amazed at the sumptuousness of Solomon's table. She
lost all heart when she saw the provision of a single day; and she
marvelled equally at the company of servants who were feasted at the
royal board. But what is this to the hospitalities of the God of grace?
Ten thousand thousand of his people are daily fed; hungry and thirsty,
they bring large appetites with them to the banquet, but not one of
them returns unsatisfied; there is enough for each, enough for all,
enough for evermore. Though the host that feed at Jehovah's table is
countless as the stars of heaven, yet each one has his portion of meat.
Think how much grace one saint requires, so much that nothing but the
Infinite could supply him for one day; and yet the Lord spreads his
table, not for one, but many saints, not for one day, but for many
years; not for many years only, but for generation after generation.
Observe the full feasting spoken of in the text, the guests at mercy's
banquet are satisfied, nay, more "abundantly satisfied;" and that not
with ordinary fare, but with fatness, the peculiar fatness of God's own
house; and such feasting is guaranteed by a faithful promise to all
those children of men who put their trust under the shadow of Jehovah's
wings. I once thought if I might but get the broken meat at God's back
door of grace I should be satisfied; like the woman who said, "The dogs
eat of the crumbs that fall from the master's table;" but no child of
God is ever served with scraps and leavings; like Mephibosheth, they
all eat from the king's own table. In matters of grace, we all have
Benjamin's mess-we all have ten times more than we could have expected,
and though our necessities are great, yet are we often amazed at the
marvellous plenty of grace which God gives us experimentally to enjoy.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Could This Be True Of Me?"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

March 4, 2009

COULD THIS BE TRUE OF ME?

But none of these things move me, neither count I my
life dear unto myself.

Acts 20:24
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=ac+20:24&sr=1

It is easier to serve God without a vision, easier to work for God
without a call, because then you are not bothered by what God
requires; common sense is your guide, veneered over with Christian
sentiment. You will be more prosperous and successful, more
leisure-hearted, if you never realize the call of God. But if once
you receive a commission from Jesus Christ, the memory of what God
wants will always come like a goad; you will no longer be able to
work for Him on the common-sense basis.

What do I really count dear? If I have not been gripped by Jesus
Christ, I will count service dear, time given to God dear, my life
dear unto myself. Paul says he counted his life dear only in order
that he might fulfil the ministry he had received; he refused to use
his energy for any other thing. Acts 20:24 states Paul's almost
sublime annoyance at being asked to consider himself; he was
absolutely indifferent to any consideration other than that of
fulfilling the ministry he had received. Practical work may be a
competitor against abandonment to God, because practical work is
based on this argument - Remember how 'useful you are here, or -
Think how much value you would be in that particular type of work."
That attitude does not put Jesus Christ as the Guide as to where we
should go, but our judgment as to where we are of most use. Never
consider whether you are of use; but ever consider that you are not
your own but His.

Praying with Paul : "Abounding in Hope"

ABOUNDING IN HOPE

Romans 15:1-13
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+15:1-13

Dear Father, who welcomes all into your family,

Help us to welcome one another, as Christ has welcomed us, for
your glory.

For you taught us that Christ became a servant to the circumcised
to show your truthfulness - in order to confirm the promises made
to the patriarchs, and in order that we who were not Jews might
glorify you for your mercy.

May you, our Father and God, fill us with all joy and peace in
believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we may abound in
hope.

In the name of Jesus and according to his command. Amen.

Benevolent Compassion

"If a person asks you for something, then give it to him.
Don't refuse to give to a person that wants to borrow from
you."

-- Matthew 5:42 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
In the last several statements, Jesus challenges us to a way of life
that does not reflect conventional thinking. These radical challenges
should not be read legalistically. At the same time, we must hear
Jesus' imploring us to live by a Kingdom Family ethic toward others so
that we can be powerful witnesses in a world so self-absorbed. While
letting someone take financial advantage of us is not Jesus' intention
(there certainly are other passages in the New Testament that help us
understand this), he definitely wants us to be incredibly generous with
others. We must refuse to put our personal possessions above the needs
of others. God's Kingdom, and our citizenship in it, should be the
primary force determining what we do to help, how we help, and how much
we give up to help. But clearly, our lifestyle should be one of
blessing and helping and giving, not judging and criticizing and
hoarding.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Sacrificial Father, you gave so much for me so that I could be your
child. Please help me see people through your eyes, with your truth and
compassion. I want to be a source of blessing in what I say and do.
Grow my generosity so others may see your grace in me and give you the
glory. In the name of your most precious Gift I pray. Amen.

THE END OF REASON: A RESPONSE TO THE NEW ATHEISTS, by Ravi Zacharias
Zacharias cuts to the core of the atheist problem and presents a case
for truth resolving itself in a presentation of God in the person of
Jesus Christ as the intelligence behind the universe, and the end (the
culmination, not the cessation) of reason.
