The Key Being the Experience of Christ

The Key Being the Experience of Christ

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bible Verses ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Phil. 1:7 ...since both in my bonds and in the defense and
confirmation of the gospel you are all fellow partakers with
me of grace. (8) For God is my witness how I long after you
all in the inward parts of Christ Jesus. (9) And this I
pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in full
knowledge and all discernment, (11) Being filled with the
fruit of righteousness, which is through Jesus Christ, to the
glory and praise of God.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words of Ministry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In 1:7-11 Paul uses a number of important terms. He speaks of
the defense of the gospel, the confirmation of the gospel,
full knowledge, all discernment, proving by testing, and the
fruit of righteousness. In verse 8 he even refers to the
"inward parts of Christ Jesus." The key to understanding
these verses and all the terms and expressions they contain
is the experience of Christ. The experience of Christ is the
master key which opens the door to the book of Philippians.
It is proper to say that the defense of the gospel, the
confirmation of the gospel, knowledge, discernment, proving
by testing, purity, and the fruit of righteousness are all
Christ Himself. Yes, even the defense of the gospel is
Christ. If we do not have Christ, there is no way for us to
defend the gospel. We can defend it only by Christ, not by
eloquence. It is possible to preach the gospel and even to
mention Christ quite often without having the reality of
Christ in our speaking. In such a preaching of the gospel,
there is no ministry of Christ to others. The way to defend
the gospel is to minister Christ. Christ is also the genuine
confirmation of the gospel, for He is the centrality, the
focal point, of the gospel. Apart from Him, there is no
confirmation of the gospel.

True knowledge and discernment are also Christ Himself. If we
experience Christ day by day, we shall be filled with
knowledge and discernment. We shall discern matters not by
our natural cleverness, but by the Christ who lives within
us. Our experience of Christ will make us wise and tactful.
The indwelling Christ is our perceptive power. Although I was
a true seeker after the Lord when I was young, I did not know
that Christ could be my discernment, my tact, and my
perception. But through the years I have come to see that He
is the very ability by which I can see into the nature of
things. The indwelling Christ is my perception.

Today's Verse : Romans 5:6-7

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

January 20, 2009

VERSE:
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless,
Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a
righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to
die.
-- Romans 5:6-7
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+5:6-7

THOUGHT:
Christ died for the ungodly. Christ died for me. I am powerless
to save myself or make myself righteous. Without Jesus' sacrificial
death and without God's grace I could not be saved. Jesus did for
me what I could not do and paid off my debt to sin which I could
not pay. He did it for me; not because I was good enough to be
worthy of his death, but because I couldn't be worthy without him.

PRAYER:
Loving God, thank you. Sacrificial Savior, I praise you. Words
cannot express my thanks for the gift of your grace that cost so
much and yet means so much to me. All honor, glory, and praise to
my Father who sits on the throne and my Lord Jesus who went to the
cross and in whose name I offer my thanks. Amen.

Hello ! OKEZCQKNSE

J. K THOMAS & ASSOCIATES
(Will, Finance & Probate Solicitors)
London ,United Kingdom

Hello Friend,

Please pardon me for invading your privacy. The reason for sending this email is very fundamental to the doctrine of human privileges and rights. My name is Barrister Lee Thomas a legal practitioner based in London and the personal Attorney to late Mr. Adams , a national of your country who died along with his wife and two sons in a Tube explosion between King's Cross-and Russell Square in London. My client was a successful and accomplished family man, who had made enough fortune before his untimely death. Since then I had made several Inquiries through your Embassy to locate any of my clients extended relative but this exercise has proved unsuccessful. After several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to trace his relatives through the Internet, to locate any member of his family, not much progress was recorded. My late client was an influential wealthy businessman, An oil magnet here in London and he left behind a deposit of fifteen Million United State Dollars only $15,000,000.00 (USD) in his domiciliary

To my greatest astonishment, I discovered that you bear the same surname with my late client and coincidentally, you are national of the same country. Being convinced that you may be related with my late client or that you might provide clue to my search, I therefore, decided to contact with these facts before me, because of the similarities. By virtue of my closeness to the deceased and his immediate family, I am very much aware of my clients financial standing . I have reasoned very professionally and I feel it will be legally proper to present you as the next of kin of my deceased client, so that you can be paid the funds left in his bank account. I therefore seek your consent to present you as the Next of Kin to the Deceased since you are at an advantage, bearing the same surname and equally from the same country that the proceeds of this Bank Account valued at $15,000,000.00 (USD) will be paid. We shall both share the funds. 40% for me and 55% to you, while 5% should be for Expenses or your Government

Lee Thomas

Mustard Seed Thoughts: Crisis Mode

ChristWeb.com : Mustard Seed Thoughts
Crisis Mode
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
But deal well with me, O Sovereign Lord, for the sake of your own reputation! Rescue me because you are so faithful and good. Psalm 109:21 NIV

If you are a child of God in a crisis situation, and you need God to come through, you can count on one thing being true: HE WILL!

When God's children are at risk, God is busy working the ultimate outcome to our good. Oh, I know, it doesn't always seem that way. In fact sometimes we just can't see how anything good could come from the situation. How could God ever make this FOR my benefit? But, the fact of the matter is, God will deliver you in time. After all, He has every promise in His word riding that fact!

God has already vowed never to leave His children, nor forsake them. He has promised that nothing, neither death nor life, nor present or future, will ever be able to separate us from His love. He has committed to bring His children into His presence, equip us with the power of the Holy Spirit, deliver us from evil, and to never put us to shame! (And I haven't even scratched the surface of promises yet!)

Let me ask you a few questions: What kind of father would I be if I sat by and watched someone physically assault my child? When my son cries, who should be the first to dry his tears? What if I paid no attention to my son when hes hurting? Wouldn't you expect me to respond? I love my child, right? So I would respond!

Well then, how much more perfectly does God love than I do? How much more can I expect my Heavenly Father to respond?

God will deal with you well, not because you are worthy, but because He is Worthy; not because you are good, but because He is Holy; not because you are lovely, but because He is Love! God will come through for the same reason He does everything. He is God!

=========================== TODAY'S ARTICLE ==========================

Radical Community, by Phil Ware

Disappointed. Distrustful. Disconnected. Forgotten. Neglected.
Unnoticed. Unneeded. Unused.

Those are just a few of the terms I hear from folks when they talk
about their bad church experiences. Granted, I know many who feel very
differently about their "church experience," but for those who have
opted out of "church-in-a-box," these words feel true. Yet there
remains a deep yearning in all of us to connect with others and be a
part of something bigger than we are -- to be part of a place where God
is present and their presence is important to the group.

Jesus promised that when we meet together in community -- even in very
small numbers -- he is present (Matthew 18:20). Yet very few have taken
time to look at the radical community the Lord describes and says is
crucial for our walk with God. We have a tendency in our politically
correct climate to neglect this call. Maybe it's because of the harsh
and vivid images. Things like ...

* putting a donkey-sized millstone around our neck and being thrown
into the sea (Matthew 18:6)

* gouging out our eyes or cutting off our hands if they lead us to
sin (Matthew 18:7-9)

* being thrown into the fires of Gehenna (Matthew 18:8-9)

* being handed over to the officer of torture in a prison (Matthew
18:34)

Jesus is using a common rhetorical device called hyperbole. But don't
read that as meaning exaggeration: Jesus is using shocking language to
communicate the urgency and importance of the message he is sharing. He
wants to shock us into listening. And as I have wrestled with this
chapter this past week, I have felt like I have lived through one of
those old movies of a nuclear bomb test site -- you know, where the
atomic winds blow past everything, they dissolve, and then are swept
away. I have been convicted, shocked, and challenged. My first response
was to ask, "Jesus, why is this so important to you that you use such
strong language and such harsh images? Why are you so adamant?"

His answer is clear. We desperately need this kind of community --
those outside the church see us as fake and many who have left feel
abandoned and neglected. Eternal destinies are at stake and redemptive
community is crucial to help all of us through life. We are precious to
God -- the term that is used here repeatedly is that we are God's
"little ones" (Matthew 18:6; Matthew 18:10; Matthew 18:14 -- in
Matthew, Mark and Luke, the term "little ones" refers to disciples of
Jesus and not to physical children.). God doesn't want any of us to be
lost or to perish (Matthew 18:14). He wants all of us to find community
.. and his presence.

Unfortunately, churches often toss around family language and the close
language of community to talk about themselves. Yet all too frequently,
these words do not have the substance to back up the talk. People feel
cheated and lied to when they realize the language isn't real!

The good news, however, is that community can be real. And when it is,
Jesus is present. Those who have experienced genuine community know
this is true. And for those who don't believe they have ever had this
kind of experience, Jesus lays out four principles for radical and
genuine community:

1. I have to be accountable for my actions and my influence (Matthew
18:6-9). While I will have to face God for the things I have done
while on earth, the issue Jesus is talking about here is the sin we
commit that causes others to stumble and sin through our influence.
I have to be willing to be responsible for the influence of my own
sin. Living in community does mean we take into consideration the
impact of what we do on those around us!

2. I have to reach out and rescue those in trouble (Matthew 18:10-14).
Like a shepherd that goes in search of his lost sheep, I must be
willing to go out and find those who are part of my community that
I know are in trouble (James 5:19-20). In community, I am my
brother's (or sisters') keeper!

3. I have to hold those who sin accountable and work to redeem them (Matthew
18:15-20). These may be some of the most ignored verses in the
Bible. Jesus makes clear, rather than gossip about someone or
condemn them in some other way, I am responsible to go, to help my
friend see the error of his or her way.

4. I need to forgive those who sin against me, and do so generously
from the heart (Matthew 18:21-35). Jesus has forgiven me with great
generosity and love; I must do the same with others who have
wronged me.

His answer is clear.

Notice that each of us is called to these four forms of community. This
is not just for leaders -- elders, pastors, ministers, counselors, or
teachers. Each of these principles is found in other places in the New
Testament. Jesus, however, puts them together in one place and says,
"Live with me in genuine, radical community!" And when we do, we help
others know they belong. We help them find their way in a world of
conflicting voices. We make sure they receive the love and acceptance
of Jesus in strong, yet tender, ways. And as we do, in the risk and
challenge of it all, there in the middle of trying and our hurt and our
moments when we think it is too hard and not possible, the Lord shows
up among us, and we experience the presence, might, and grace of Jesus.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow! Strong stuff from Jesus. How do you feel about all of this?

Do you believe we practice these four principles of community very
well?

Why are they important for genuine community?

I'd love to get your comments about this and other ideas on community
on my blog:

Morning & Evening -- Song of Solomon 3:1 and Luke 24:45

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / Charles Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday, January 19, 2009

MORNING:

"I sought him, but I found him not."
-- Song of Solomon 3:1

Tell me where you lost the company of a Christ, and I will tell you the
most likely place to find him. Have you lost Christ in the closet by
restraining prayer? Then it is there you must seek and find him. Did
you lose Christ by sin? You will find Christ in no other way but by the
giving up of the sin, and seeking by the Holy Spirit to mortify the
member in which the lust doth dwell. Did you lose Christ by neglecting
the Scriptures? You must find Christ in the Scriptures. It is a true
proverb, "Look for a thing where you dropped it, it is there." So look
for Christ where you lost him, for he has not gone away. But it is hard
work to go back for Christ. Bunyan tells us, the pilgrim found the
piece of the road back to the Arbour of Ease, where he lost his roll,
the hardest he had ever travelled. Twenty miles onward is easier than
to go one mile back for the lost evidence.

Take care, then, when you find your Master, to cling close to him. But
how is it you have lost him? One would have thought you would never
have parted with such a precious friend, whose presence is so sweet,
whose words are so comforting, and whose company is so dear to you! How
is it that you did not watch him every moment for fear of losing sight
of him? Yet, since you have let him go, what a mercy that you are
seeking him, even though you mournfully groan, "O that I knew where I
might find him!" Go on seeking, for it is dangerous to be without thy
Lord. Without Christ you are like a sheep without its shepherd; like a
tree without water at its roots; like a sere leaf in the tempest-not
bound to the tree of life. With thine whole heart seek him, and he will
be found of thee: only give thyself thoroughly up to the search, and
verily, thou shalt yet discover him to thy joy and gladness.

EVENING:

"Then opened he their understanding, that they might
understand the Scriptures."
-- Luke 24:45

He whom we viewed last evening as opening Scripture, we here perceive
opening the understanding. In the first work he has many
fellow-labourers, but in the second he stands alone; many can bring the
Scriptures to the mind, but the Lord alone can prepare the mind to
receive the Scriptures. Our Lord Jesus differs from all other teachers;
they reach the ear, but he instructs the heart; they deal with the
outward letter, but he imparts an inward taste for the truth, by which
we perceive its savour and spirit. The most unlearned of men become
ripe scholars in the school of grace when the Lord Jesus by his Holy
Spirit unfolds the mysteries of the kingdom to them, and grants the
divine anointing by which they are enabled to behold the invisible.
Happy are we if we have had our understandings cleared and strengthened
by the Master! How many men of profound learning are ignorant of
eternal things! They know the killing letter of revelation, but its
killing spirit they cannot discern; they have a veil upon their hearts
which the eyes of carnal reason cannot penetrate. Such was our case a
little time ago; we who now see were once utterly blind; truth was to
us as beauty in the dark, a thing unnoticed and neglected. Had it not
been for the love of Jesus we should have remained to this moment in
utter ignorance, for without his gracious opening of our understanding,
we could no more have attained to spiritual knowledge than an infant
can climb the Pyramids, or an ostrich fly up to the stars. Jesus'
College is the only one in which God's truth can be really learned;
other schools may teach us what is to be believed, but Christ's alone
can show us how to believe it. Let us sit at the feet of Jesus, and by
earnest prayer call in his blessed aid that our dull wits may grow
brighter, and our feeble understandings may receive heavenly things.

My Utmost For His Highest : "Vision And Darkness"

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

January 19, 2009

VISION AND DARKNESS

An horror of great darkness fell upon him.

Genesis 15:1
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=ge+15:1&sr=1

Whenever God gives a vision to a saint, He puts him, as it were, in
the shadow of His hand, and the saint's duty is to be still and
listen. There is a darkness which comes from excess of light, and
then is the time to listen. Genesis 16 is an illustration of
listening to good advice when it is dark instead of waiting for God
to send the light. When God gives a vision and darkness follows,
wait. God will make you in accordance with the vision He has given if
you will wait His time. Never try and help God fulfil His word.
Abraham went through thirteen years of silence, but in those years
all self-sufficiency was destroyed; there was no possibility left of
relying on common-sense ways. Those years of silence were a time of
discipline, not of displeasure. Never pump up joy and confidence, but
stay upon God (cf. Isaiah 1:10,11).

Have I any confidence in the flesh? Or have I got beyond all
confidence in myself and in men and women of God; in books and
prayers and ecstasies; and is my confidence placed now in God
Himself, not in His blessings? "I am the Almighty God" - El-Shaddai,
the All-Powerful God. The one thing for which we are all being
disciplined is to know that God is real. As soon as God becomes real,
other people become shadows. Nothing that other saints do or say can
ever perturb the one who is built on God.

MY FAITH

Romans 4:22-25
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+4:22-25

Dear Father, our Savior,

Thank you for Abraham's example of a faith credited as
righteousness. And thank you that these words are written not only
for Abraham's sake, but for ours as well - that faith will be
credited as righteousness to those who believe in you, the God who
raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was put to death for our
misdeeds and was raised for our justification.

Thank you for so wonderful a salvation, precious God.

In the name of Jesus I ask this and by his authority I lift up my
faith as the only thing I have to offer you. Amen.

WJD! -- The Famine Is Over! -- Matthew 3:5-6

-/\/\-----------------------------------------------------------------
\ / WHAT JESUS DID! -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday, January 19, 2009

The Famine Is Over!

People went to hear John. The people came from Jerusalem and
all Judea and all the area around the Jordan River. People
told the sins they had done, and John baptized them in the
Jordan River.

-- Matthew 3:5-6 (ERV)

KEY THOUGHT:
There is something self-revealing in God's word when presented in all
of its liberating and uncomfortable truth. Amos had warned God's people
many years earlier that there would be a famine for God's word, a time
when the voice of God through the prophets would go silent. John was
the re-awakening of God's voice through a prophet. There was a clarity
and ring of truth in his convicting message. He called people to a
life-change through the confession of sins and baptism. People flocked
to hear him, and then changed their lives based on John's message from
God. John was not in a convenient location. John didn't have money or
power to gain an audience. What was John's attractiveness? God's voice
was recognizable in his preaching. The famine was over! People flocked
to feed on the truth of God!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Holy and Righteous Father, give me a love for your truth and a passion
for your word. Through your Spirit, please enable me to understand and
apply your truth in my daily life. In the name of my Lord Jesus I pray.
Amen.
