Mustard Seed Thought: In Love

For He wounds, but He also binds up; He injures, but His hands also
heal. Job 5:23 NIV

God hates sin. Sin is so contrary to God's nature, that He cannot allow sin
anywhere in His presence. This is precisely why God turned His back on
Jesus when He was on the Cross. Because sin must be punished, and
because God (in the Trinity) is the only one without sin, in His
justness He must do the punishing. This next statement may sound harsh
to you, but I truly believe a loving God, because of His justness, feels
no remorse in carrying out that punishment. He does it all in love.

Just as God must do the punishing, God also gets to do the
rewarding. God gets to award salvation. He gets to mend a broken heart,
create new life, and wipe the tears from our eyes. God gets to paint
sunsets, shape the clouds and transform a caterpillar into a butterfly.
He does it all in love.

Dear friend, God is love; first and foremost. God is also just. I hope you
can see both sides to the character of God. His justice will allow sin,
and those in sin, to be cast for eternity into Hell. His love and His
grace will allow sinners, who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ, to spend an eternity with Him in Heaven. He does it all in love.
