The Boat Story Four
He said to His disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Mark 4:40 NIV
No, faith. How can you say we have no faith? I wonder if the disciples ever asked Jesus that question. After the storm was calmed, and the shock and amazement wore off, I wonder if they started to think about what Jesus had asked, Do you still have NO faith?.
How could He ask such a question? Didnt they leave their lives to follow Him? Didnt Peter and Andrew drop their fishing business? Didnt Matthew leave his tax collecting? Hadnt they followed Jesus, even when it wasnt yet popular to do so? Didnt they do so without asking a lot of questions? Did they request references on Jesus? Did they require great miracles before they agreed to follow Him? How then can Jesus ask them if they NO faith?
You know the answer, dont you? You know that when the storms of life come, no matter how hard you try, fear starts to creep its nasty little head into your li fe. You know that worry starts to play with your mind. You know that you start to question the outcome of the situation...as if you had...wait a minute...what did Jesus call it...that's right...it begins to seem as though you have "NO faith" at all! Isn't that the way it works?
Jesus asked because He knew that unless we had 100% faith, which we dont, there would be times when we seem to have no faith at all. Where are you today? Are you at full faith, or are the trials in your life right now causing you to feel that you have no faith? God wants to restore your faith today. You can trust Him; again, and again, and again!
