Offended Four
Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11 NIV
Are you aiming for perfection? That should be the goal of the believer; to be like Christ in all that we do. That is especially true in how we relate to others. Since the first and greatest commandment and is to love God and love others, how we relate to others is vitally important. We must strive not to be offensive.
It occurred to me as I was preparing for this series that some people are just naturally offensive people. Dont take offense to that statement. If you do, you may need to!
Part of being people who dont offend people willingly is examining our own lives to see if we are offensive. If you are the one constantly saying the wrong thing; if you consistently hurt peoples feelings; if every joke you tell makes people uncomfortable or even angry, could the prob lem with offending people be YOU?
I know people who have no regard for anyone elses feelings and they just chalk it up to Thats the way I am! That may be their answer, but Im not sure thats a good one. I am not to be like me. I am to be like Christ. There is a world of difference between the two.
Who are you striving to be like? Are you striving to be like Christ? Today, spend some time alone with Christ asking Him to help you examine yourself to see if you are the problem in offensive relationships.
