The Wife Thing
Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun....all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9:9 NIV
Solomon was the wisest man of all time. In his search for the meaning of life; the real pleasure of this world, his advice to us is this: enjoy your wife!
Solomon had many wives, and many lovers too. In fact, he had all the so-called pleasures of the world at his command. He had the ability to order up anything that his mind could conceive. Yet, he found in the end, that God's way, one man and one woman, committed to each other for a lifetime, was the most excellent way. Perhaps that is why Solomon wrote Song of Songs as a brilliant tribute to the wife of his youth.
My wife and I have busy jobs. We often talk with each other throughout the day whether by text, phone or email. Still, there is no more precious time than when the two of us have time alone, leaving the world behind, and can focus on our love for each other. Our marriage is fueled by these special times.
Dear friend, if you are married, praise God for your spouse. Ask God's richest blessings upon them, and that you would cherish them with all your heart. Celebrate the gift of life and marriage together! Commit to one person, forever! And, if you, like Solomon, have made mistakes, learn from them, as Solomon did, and from this day forward, you find pleasures in life from the simplicity, (yet complexity) of God's gift to you in your spouse
