God's Comfort Four
Comforting Words By: Ron Edmondson
As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem." Isaiah 66:13 NIV

There is nothing quite like seeing a young child comforted by his mother. I was in grocery recently and witnessed a little boy falling. He wasnt hurt that much, but he started to cry. I tried to offer help to him, but he didnt want me. He wanted his mother. When Momma arrived everything was okay. She knew how to comfort her little boy.

Who do you think taught that mother how to comfort? Did she read it in a book? Was she taught in Mommas School? Did she learn it on Oprah? Of course a mothers love is instinctive. It comes naturally. I have watched many of the young mothers in our Sunday School class before their first child. Many times they worry about how they will be as a mother. When it comes to comforting their children, however, Ive yet to find a mother that didnt know how.

That instinct could have only come from the mothe rs designer. God created a mothers love. God designed a mother to comfort her child? Dont you think God, who came up with the idea of a mothers comfort, should know something about comforting?

I dont know where you are struggling in your life right now. If the statistics among the readers of Mustard Seeds holds true, then the chances are very good that if you are reading this, then you are in the middle of a trial right now. You could use comforting. I might remind you that God knows how to comfort; even better than a mother knows how to comfort her hurting child.
