Christ Service 3

For He knew who was going to betray Him, and that was why He said not every one was clean. When He had finished washing their feet, He put on His clothes and returned to His place. John 13:11-12a NIV

As I read about this incredible act of service, Christ washing the feet of the disciples, something very profound jumps out at me. Jesus washed 24 feet. He washed 12 pairs of feet. Twelve disciples. Twelve sets of feet. Twelve (disciples) times two (two feet for each disciple), equals twenty four.

I'm sure you know how to count, and I am not trying to insult you, but I want to illustrate a point about Christ that literally blows my mind. Jesus washed the feet of every disciple, including Judas, who He already knew was about to betray Him! Judas Iscariot, who would soon betray Jesus, selling His location out to the Roman soldiers, got his feet washed along with the rest of the disciples.

I can imagine washing the feet of my wife. (I don't do this, but I would if I had to.) I can imagine washing the feet of our two boys. I can even imagine if I absolutely had to, washing the feet of a close friend. (If I have one reading this, don't ask!) But, with everything inside of me, I can't imagine washing the smelly feet of my enemy! Can you?

Perhaps you are one of those readers that simply cannot believe a Holy God could love someone like you? My dear friend, look at the example of the Servant Leader Jesus Christ. He does not discriminate in dispensing His love. He does not qualify His love by your actions or your inactions.

Jesus washed the feet of Judas and the gospel was available to Him, just as it was to the rest of the disciples. Judas rejected Christ. Christ did not reject Judas!

And, Christ has not rejected you! Have you rejected Christ?
