Bible Plan 3
At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. Luke 10:21 NIV
Gods Word is meant to be understood. He is not trying to hide something from you.
One of the most frequent reasons I hear from people for not reading the Bible is that they cant understand it. Sure, there are difficult passages in the Bible, but the basic content is this: Jesus! If you read it looking for Him, it may make it easier to understand.
The Bible, however, is not like any other book. You cant read the Bible like you would the newspaper and expect to get anything out of it. The Bible was written by God. Its not about history, its about God. Its not a book of literature. Its a book of hope, love and relationship with the Creator God. To understand the Bible you do nt need education, you need revelation. You dont need a scholar you need a Savior. You dont need a translator you need the promised Holy Spirit. To understand the Bible you need God to show you what it means.
Let me suggest you try something the next time you read Gods Word. First, read it not for information, but for relationship. Read it as if God wrote it just for you. Second, read it in context. You cant just read one verse and think you have it all figured out. God is a God of order. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His Word does not contradict itself. Finally, read it consistently. I often say to God, Im going to read this passage until You reveal to me what You want me to know. Sometimes that takes one time reading it; sometimes it takes several.
God is not trying to hide from you. He wants you to know Him through His Word. Try finding God within the pages of Scripture today.
