John-Like, 4
Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me." Matthew 11:6 NIV
Jesus says we are blessed if we dont all away on account of Him. Thats what He told John the Baptist when John was questioning where Jesus was while John was in prison. I think Jesus was encouraging John to stay strong in his faith. I think Jesus encourages you and me to do the same.
The Christian life is hard. Jesus warned us that people would hate us, because they hated Him. There are more than ample opportunities to denounce our faith. Its tough to stand for the moral, godly ways when morals in society are getting looser by the day. Let's be honest, sometimes it is tough to stay faithful to Christ when it seems the world who isn't faithful is having more "fun"; and getting more "stuff".
But, Jesus said blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me I dont know what kind of reward John the Baptist had in store for him in Heaven, but it must have been s pecial. When I look at a sunset, I realize there is a God who doesnt do things half way. He is a perfectionist! Surely Johns reward was (and is) worthy of the suffering he endured. I cant imagine God doing any less for John than absolute splendor and glory.
Whatever you are going through, no matter how hard it is, regardless of what you see as the potential fallout on earth, stay faithful to Christ! Keep your eyes on Jesus! You will be blessed. I dont have all the answers as to when or how, but I can assure you, because Jesus, who is Truth, promised that blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me!
Jesus keeps His promises!
