Immanuel Five
I call on the Lord in my distress, and He answers me. Psalm 120:1 NIV
Time and time again I have called upon the Lord in distress. It has been very true in the year 2008. Will next year be any different?
Over my short life, I have experienced my share of heartaches. I have had times when I felt as though my life, at least as I had known it so far, was about to end. Once or twice, I have even questioned whether the world would be a better place without out me in it. I am simply being honest. If you are honest with yourself, you have had similar feelings. You may even be at one of those places in your life right now.
I know what it is like to do without a want or two. (Thankfully, I also know what it is like to have plenty.) I have struggled to pay bills, suffered the loss of a friend, had the love I shared rejected by another. I have watched love ones die, witnessed others struggle with great illness.
There have been times when my spirit was weak; when I did not feel God anywhere. Times, also, when my prayers seemed to go unanswered and the answers I did receive seemed so distant from my own desires.
Yes, I have had times of distress in my life...but through it all, I have to admit, God has never let me down...not even once! I cannot tell you of your trials or tribulations. I cannot answer the whys or the how comes of your life. I cannot say what God is up to with you.
All I can do is share with you from my personal experience. God is faithful! He is who He claims to be! He does deliver every single time!
Having just celebrated another wonderful season of remembering Christ's Birth, it helps me to reflect on how that Savior, born in that manger, over 2000 years ago, has changed my life for good. In my distress, I do call upon the Lord...and He does hear! In addition, I praise Him for that once again!
How about you?
