New Trust 1
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
I trust in you for salvation, O LORD! Genesis 49:18 NLT

The word trust appears nearly 150 times in the Bible. The word trust frequently describes the faith a person places in something. It refers to a sincere confidence. Trust can be a noun or a verb. You can have trust (noun) or choose to trust (verb). This week lets consider that word in the context of the Bible.

As seen in todays verse, trust is first and foremost for salvation. We choose to trust that God can save us, we place our trust in Him alone, and then we confidently trust that we have salvation. Each of these acts of trust is based on the promises God has given us in His Word and the unchanging character of God insures them.

As we go through this series, please examine how the word trust identifies your faith in God. Have you chosen Christ as your salvation? Is Jesus alone your means to get to God? Are you confident in your salvation because of the trust you have in the promises an d power of God to save you? Life has a way of trying to destroy your trust, but you must choose to trust the God of the Bible. Have you? Do you trust Him more each day?

As a New Year approaches, will your level of trust increase? Do you trust the God's goodness, His mercy and grace for 2009? Lord, help us to grow our trust in You.
