Up All Night
He will not let you stumble and fall; the one who watches over you will not sleep. Indeed, He who watches over Israel never tires and never sleeps. Psalm 121:3-4
While you slept last night, God was watching over you! Isn't that a comforting thought?
The God who made the Heavens and the Earth, the Creator of the stars, moon and planets, the One who hears each prayer is the same One who never sleeps, so that He can protectively watch over His children.
When the boys were little, bedtime at our house was an event. Wed tuck both boys in, pray for them and with them, often read a short story, or talk briefly about the events of the day. It was a special time the boys looked forward to. So did I!
Sometimes the schedule would get a little cramped towards the end of a night. With school early the next morning, it was important they get enough sleep, but our nighttime tradition couldnt be altered. One thing we learned was that our boys wa nted to go to bed before we did. They wanted plenty of time to fall asleep before we retired for the evening. I guess they felt safer if they knew we were still up.
I'm an adult now. My parents are no longer waiting up for me. I'm usually the last one to go to bed at my house, but it is a comforting thought to know my Heavenly Father is watching me throughout each night.
And, it is the strength I receive from my Father that allows me to give strength back to my family. Thank you, God, for watching over your children!
