Whatever Your Stress...
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
And she, greatly distressed, prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly. 1 Samuel 1:10 NASV

Hannah loved the Lord. She wanted a child so much and could not understand why her womb had been closed. She was provoked by her counterpart Peninnah, Elkanahs other wife. With her heart heavy, Hannah cries out to the Lord.

Dear friend, when you are going through the trials of life, where else can you turn? God is waiting today for some of you to cry out to Him in distress, so He can answer your prayer.

Several years ago, I remember hearing of a dear woman whose son was involved in a serious accident. He was in a coma, hanging on to life by a single breath. The doctors were baffled, and the mother felt that she was at her end. The pain was almost more than she could contain.

Days quickly turned into weeks with no progress one way or the other. Friends from church would come by the hospital, each one offering to pray for her sick child. The mothe r began to prepare for the worst, not sensing that the boy would ever return to normal.

One day, sitting at the boys bedside, where she had been almost consistently since that first dreadful day, she cried out to God, really for the first time. She asked God why He had allowed this to happen to her child. Why had all the prayers of her friends not been answered? She sensed in that moment God tell her that He was waiting for one more prayer... that of the mother. She had simply not prayed. She had let others call to God on her behalf. She had instead spent her time trying to worry her son back to health. Almost instantly after her prayer, the boy opened his eyes and began a speedy road to recovery.

I can't verify the accuracy of this story, but I do know this. God did hear Hannah's earnest prayer, and He WILL hear yours.

Whatever your distress, call on the Lord today. It could be the prayer He's waiting for.
