Man of Law 1
Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do in Egypt--to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel. Deuteronomy 34:10 NIV
This week I want us to consider one question: What made Moses successful in the faith? What was it that allowed him the privilege of knowing God in such an intimate way? Some people look at Mosess life and see failure. He was a known murderer. He admitted his weakness as a leader. We also know he didnt get to enter into the Promise Land with the rest of the Israelites after their forty year wilderness experience.
But, was Moses a failure? To answer this question, examine todays verses. They tell us there was no prophet like Moses; that Moses knew God face to face; that through Gods strength, Moses did great miracles; and that no one has ever shown the mighty power of God that Moses displayed. We also know from the New Testament that when Jesus went with Peter, James and John to the Mountain of Transfiguration that Moses was there with Elijah, reflecting the glory of God. Some believe, and I tend to lean this direction, that one of the two witnesses mentioned in Revelation, who appear during the Last Days, is Moses. I would say Moses saw success in his walk with the Lord.
So, this week, how? What made Moses successful? As you and I reflect on that question, let me also encourage you to consider another question. What is making you a success in your Christian walk? Granted, we are all successful in Christ Jesus, because it is all about Him anyway, but how do you achieve greatness for the Lord, as Moses did?
