Man of Law 2
Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. Keep His decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time. Deuteronomy 4:39-40 NIV
One of the key reasons for the success of Moses was that Moses had a proper view of God. Moses didnt debate his beliefs in his head. Perhaps at one time Moses might have questioned his faith, as many of us do, but there came a time when Moses concluded in his heart that God is God and there is no other. That belief system became the catalyst for every thought and action that Moses performed the rest of his life.
I remember sharing a principle of life with one of my boys several years ago. He seemed to be listening, but as with most teenagers, I wasnt sure what I was saying was being accepted. At that point, I told him that nothing I was saying would become a reality in his life until he accepted it as truth in his heart. It is one thing to understand something intellectually, but it doesnt really become a part of our life, deep down in our soul, until we accept it in our heart. The heart the central part of shaping our belief system. (Romans 10:10)
Moses had lived an exciting life full of many privileges and many calamities. We dont know all that took place in shaping his beliefs, but we do know this. At some point, he chose God as God.
Have you decided, in your heart, that God is who He says He is? Is He the God above all gods? Is that truth real to you? Accepting God as the one true, Living God, above everything else, is a critical step in reaching spiritual maturity.
