Man of Law 4
For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing. And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt. Fear the LORD your God and serve Him. Hold fast to Him and take your oaths in His name. He is your praise; He is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes. Your forefathers who went down into Egypt were seventy in all, and now the LORD your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky. Deuteronomy 10:17-22 NIV
Not only did Moses know that God is God, and not only did Moses learn to trust God in everything, but Moses had also learned the character of God. Moses was raised a privileged individual. Through Gods protection Moses grew up in a prominent home, with wealth and influence at his disposal. Moses could have easily looked down upon people of lesser means, but Moses saw something different in the character of God. Moses saw that God loves everyone, from the greatest to the least in society. Moses encouraged others to have the same generosity as God.
I have a friend who is a millionaire. I have marveled at his sons selection of friends. Here is a boy, that by every fiscal standard, is a privileged individual. His father can buy him the nicest cars, provide him with travel opportunities, and send him to the best of schools. This boy, however, drives an average car, attends public schools, and his closest friends live on the other side of town. His best friend is a boy whos family appears to live an extremely modest lifestyle. I believe my friends son clearly demonstrates the character of God.
The man, or woman, who is growing in spiritual maturity will not be a respecter of persons. That means they will be just as comfortable with someone who has l ittle as they are with someone who has much in the worlds eyes. Does this describe your life? Does it describe mine?
