Ten Billion?
What good will it be if a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Matthew 16:26a NIV
The Lord asked me a question one day. Now it wasn't an audible question, but I knew it came straight from Him. It was simple, easy to understand, but it required me to concentrate deeply before I answered.
Here's the question: If I had to make a choice between two options which would I choose?
1. I could receive $10 million. I would keep my salvation, but lose my close walk with God.
2. I could lose everything I had materially, but grow far deeper in my walk with God.
Dear reader, I hope by now that you know how I love the Lord. I consider myself a sold-out Christian. But, I want you to know this was a difficult choice to make at least at first.
You see, I know what it is like to have little. I know how it feels to owe more than you make. I have had the sensation of wondering how I would pay my mortgage. Let me tell you (and many of you can relate), it ain't fun (excuse me for the use of an incorrect word, but it seemed to fit).
I thought for a minute. Do you realize that probably 80% of the worldly problems I have ever had in life could have been solved with a little bit more money? If I had $10 million, I could eliminate all but 20% of my problems, at least in theory.
Then I remembered, through all my hard times, where would I have been without my walk Jesus? How could I have survived if it hadn't been for the great Comforter? Where would my strength come from if God wasn't active in my life? How could I live without Him?
No, the choice is clear! Ten million, or ten billion, it doesn't matter, nothing can take the place of a steady, growing relationship with the God Almighty!
Nothing!
