Bloody Subject 4
By: Ron Edmondson Mustard Seed Thoughts
God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Romans 3:25-26 NIV

Oh, the blood of Jesus, that washes white as snow.

We have looked this week at the blood of Jesus, the shed blood, which, by faith, cleanses us from all our unrighteousness. Today, we look at Pauls presentation to us of what that blood means to us spiritually.

Do not ask me to explain all of God. I cannot. But, I can tell you that God foreknew that man would sin. He created us to be perfect, but He knew we would let Him down. So, in preparation, out of His love for us, He prepared a way, through the shedding of blood, for you and I to come to Him in His Holiness.

Because God is Holy, meaning He has no sin, and since He has said that sin cannot go unpunished, all sin must have a consequence, and that consequence is death. If God did not deal with sin, He would not be God. The early sacrifices were suitable for a short time, but they were like us paying interest only on a loan. There was never any payment on the actual principal, the principal debt of sin.

Therefore, when the sinless and perfect Jesus was sacrificed, He took on our sins. He actually became sin so that with Him sin might die as well. He has paid the price of sin and God has considered that sin debt paid in full. There is now no further shedding of blood needed for the remission of sin. Thus, He was the perfect and final sacrifice. When He died and rose from the grave He gave way to new life!

Now, having said all that, our what is our response to what Christ did for us by shedding His own blood? We must receive His works as our perfect sacrifice. We must accept His substitution work done on ou r behalf. He took our place, shedding blood on our behalf, and we now accept Him as our Savior, through His work on the Cross.

Have you accepted the shed blood of Jesus for the remission of your sins? Oh, the blood of Jesus, that washes white as snow! Thank you, Jesus, for your shed blood!
