Your Satisfaction 4
Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him-for this is his lot. Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work-this is a gift of God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart. Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 NIV
What keeps you occupied with gladness of heart? What is it that makes you satisfied?
Solomon discovered that chasing after things in life was meaningless. They really do not satisfy us, because there will always be more we need or want and we cannot take stuff with us. There is something internal, I believe, in the life of every person that allows him to find true satisfaction in the person of Jesus Christ alone. Only Jesus truly satisfies.
Are you satisfied with your life? If not, t hink for a moment what you are seeking to bring you satisfaction. Are you counting on your relationship with others? Remember, people will disappoint you. Are you depending on a financial solution to satisfy you? Have you been watching the volatility of the economy on the nightly news? You cannot depend on money to make you happy!
Jesus tells us not to worry, because He cares for us. Perhaps it would be good to read Matthew 6:25-33 for a reminder of just how much He does care for you. You can be satisfied in Jesus Christ, because He gave His life so that you may have a relationship with God through Him. Christ is preparing a future for you to spend eternity with Him.
Your heart will be full of gladness and you will find satisfaction in life when you (and me) seek to find our satisfaction in the person of Jesus Christ. He alone truly satisfies!
