One Thing I Want to be Known For
For I live in eager expectation and hope that I will never do anything that causes me shame, but that I will always be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past, and that my life will always honor Christ, whether I live or I die. Philippians 1:20 NLT
Paul was not saying that he had never done anything wrong, or that nothing in his past could cause him shame. He was admitting that he was a "new creation" and that his heart's desire now was to please God, and to consistently live a life in which God would be proud. I have to admit....I share Paul's desire!
I'm not going to sugar-coat it. We are living in difficult days. It is not easy anymore to live the Christian life. It is no longer the norm to do the right thing. There appears at times to be no moral compass for America. The Bible is no longer respected as it once was, and prayer has been far removed from our schools. The idea of teaching children right from wrong is watered down depending on what an individual's opinion of right and wrong is. Tolerance is the new buzz word for our current culture.
One thing I know for sure, as long as there is time left on this earth, I want to be known as one who loves the Lord with all my heart and soul. I don't want to do anything that would shame me in front of my Father. I want to proclaim the good news into the streets of our world.
I want people to know that I am a Christian. I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of salvation. Whether I live or die, I want my life to honor my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
